The spiritual world has powers and capabilities that us humans do not nor understand. This is just how the Christian World View might look at this. HE DID. Right before that, He DID tell her that there's a man coming through to see her "DAUGHTER". doesn't require that much intelligence to figure out what that means. and after that he asked Did your dad pass because it's the polite thing to do. it would be weird and rude if he just continued without validating the information with her first.
