If they made this optic with the same kind of reticle as the Credo 2-10×36 it would blow the Credo out the water... It's still a cool optic though and the galss is amazing for the money. I really like their PLX and GLX line... My go to LPVO's is their 1-6 and 1-8 with one of their ACSS reticles in them like the Raptor M2 and M6. To me those are extremely fast and it makes shooting at distance almost like cheating and again the optics have great glass for the money. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

I have a 13.7 rifle with a swamp Fox 1 x 10 BDC. Many of my other Scopes are primary arms 1-6 and 4x14 which I love the reticle. But I can't afford that two and a half by 10 but I've been eyeballing they're new one by 10 lpvo because primary arms just has the best reticles.

  • @SCQT

good stuff man, agree pretty much all around.
I got this and the Credo at the same time because i really wasnt sure which one i was going to end up with. I went into it honestly wanting to end up with the Credo, and while it is a solid optic, i just thought that between the much more useable at low power reticle, and the absurdly generous eyebox, the GLx was a better fit for a scope carbine. Not that the optical quality of the Trijicon was bad, but it just wasnt really enough better. Slightly better color transmission, but meh, i was expecting more. Vastly prefer the GLx turrets, even though i dont really dial them much, but the lock is super nice to have.
One thing i would say about the parallax. I find that if it just stick it at ~250-300, from 50-175 it doesnt really matter enough, from 175-350 its pretty much on, and past that there is enough time to tune if you want to take it. Basically i would say the Credo was doing the same thing, fixed ~300y parallax, but without the ability to tune it when it would be nice. The depth of field did seem a bit wider on the Credo, but not really enough to make a meaningful difference in use.
Would absolutely love to see a ~$1400 PLx version of this from them, built in the same ethos of their new 1-8. Could potentially dominate the MPVO market, which thankfully seems to be getting a little more love lately.

A chevron with exposed turrets doesn't make sense IMHO. There's no point in dialing at extended range if you have no wind holds in the reticle. PAs Athena reticle would make much better sense in this optic. I sold mine shortly after purchasing. I sacrificed FFP and went with the NF NXS Compact 2.5-10. It has parallax adjustment, the Mil-R reticle which includes a 0.1 increment ranging Mil T grid, and crystal clear glass. Very happy with that decision.

I know this is a little late but I feel the following is a "good to know".
I went for this set up. I got the glx 2.5-10, the ADM Delta mount (cantilever) and the option ADM picatinny top clamp for the mount. Where I strayed was the dot. Instead of the regular Vortex Sparc I went with the Solar version, figuring it was essentially the same with added solar. I was wrong. The mount/picatinny adapter is slightly different. I have the original sparc on another rifle (luckily) but used the high mount for that one. The difference is that with the original it uses one cross bar/tension screw/bolt. This bolt is the feature that sits in the gap of picatinny. You then tighten it down and it clamps on. The solarw, however, uses two screws and has a machined protrusion that fits into the picstinny slot. The issues was that when the mount was on and in place the two screws did not have clearance to pass through the dots mount as the positive portions of the picatiny top clamp blocked them. There was no way around it. Luckily I still held on to the low mount from the original Sparc and it mated to the solar just fine. Then using the single tension screw was able to mount it just fine to the top clamp picatinny. Just something to think about. Also there is very little if any clearance between the dot housing and the elevation dial. (You shouldn't need to dial anyway, it's a 10x FFP with a mil tree, git gud) but something to note.
Just wanted to get this info out there to anyone that may be interested in this set up.

It's interesting that you said you weren't that into dialing parallax, when you said the lack of parallax adjustment was the Credo's only real lack. How's the glass compare between the two? Is Trijicon's glass $300 better?

    • @barrelandhatchet
      @barrelandhatchet  Рік тому +4

Great question, when we did the credo, we did say that the lack of parallax was something we wished we had, well now that we ran a scope with parallax adjustment, we changed our thoughts on the parallel being needed so a scoped carbine specifically. The target transitions were just so fast, that in order to make those shots, we had to mess with parallax and it slowed you down, or if you didn’t adjust it, caused misses at further distances like 400-600 yards. So it’s something that with the credo, we are now in the opinion of no parallax for a scoped carbine is actually decent.

    • @woodrowcall3158

If your eye alignment behind the scope is perfectly consistent then you never need parallax adjustment.
That being said, one of my most embarrassing missed shots in competition was a parallax induced error at 25 yards that threw me completely off target. Granted I was severely extended around a barrier, had my parallax adjusted to max, and I was in the left edge of my eyebox, but I never forgot what parallax was afterwards.

Unless something is wildly different about these scopes than anything used in the precision rifle world you shouldn’t really be coming off the gun to check parallax yardage numbers, those are a guideline and aren’t set in stone. I’ve never seen anyone do that at a prs match and they are shooting much further so much more parallax error if you get it wrong. With time you will get a feel for what good parallax looks like, though that is a benefit of scopes that are extremely forgiving for parallax.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding what you were putting down with that though.

I picked up the GLX 1-10 bc the 2.5-10 is out of stock. The eyebox is horrendous. Extremely tight. Even at 6x. How would you rate the 2.5-10 eyebox? Figure it’s prob a little better with a larger objective lens.

How do you think this would do in a 1.93 mount? I was looking at the plxc but it’s never in stock and that extra further magnification is kinda nice. And is it possible to run a side mount dot in a hanger mount or are the knobs and objective lens to big?

    • @woodrowcall3158

I’d suggest a 1.425” and mounting over the the top. Whether you are running NODs or are firing supported from a platform, I find the piggyback is superior for a heavier or more precision oriented rig.
You can run a 1.93” mount with no issue, but I personally feel you are losing the benefit of a more solid cheek weld and are needlessly elevating your optic plane above the bore.
Either way I’d suggest looking at a Griffin Armament SPRM mount, it will give you the option to run piggy-back, 45°, or 90° in a bombproof mount.

Should I get the PA 2.5X10 or the Athlon 2X12 for my 18" GPR/SPR build??
I'd prefer the lower 2X and the higher 12X.... but so many people really seem to dig this GLX scope... my rifle shoots sub MOA at 600 yards, so I really want to take advantage of this capability of precision shots inside of 600 yards.... my goal is to never be in an under 50 yard "battle" scenario, but I'd want the ability to use the scope if that unlikely scenario occurred..... I definitely don't want an lpvo because I want parallax adjustments for clearer shots past 200 yards....
    What's your recommendation?

    • @woodrowcall3158
      @woodrowcall3158 11 місяців тому +1

Butting in with my unsolicited opinion.
Assuming you are talking about the PA GLx and Athlon Helos BTR.
I’ve been behind both, both are good performers inside of their price range. You won’t notice the 0.5x difference on the low end or the extra 2x at the high end, but the clarity and eyebox on the PA GLx is noticeably better. To me the extra clarity provides a noticeable improvement to PID and overall long range utility than the extra 2x on the Athlon.
I can’t comment on the accuracy of either’s adjustments or parallax.
Despite often being referred to as “side focus”, parallax adjustments have nothing to do with focusing the image (that’s adjusted at the diopter), they are for transposing the reticle over the same focal plane as the target image. If your parallax is not adjusted correctly you can still shoot accurately with consistent head positioning, but the capacity for parallax error is increased. Generally speaking the greatest capacity for parallax error exists at closer ranges under 200yds.

@woodrowcall3158 thanks for the input.... I was wondering how much better 2X on the low end would be over the 2.5X, and I was also thinking maybe it's better to have the extra magnification with the 12X.... but, if it's truly not noticeable, maybe I will in fact go with the Primary Arms.... I'd definitely rather but American made ..
      Thanks again

PRS has ruined shooting due to over penetration of cover. example. Shooting from inside a building, if you stick your weapon out the window or hang it out the window, you will get attention you don't want. Shoot from inside the building. If your rifle is too heavy drop weight so you can hold it.

Dig the channel, dig the content. The general consensus in the community is leaning towards the current rigs you're running, in relation to the content you're producing. *"Barrel & Hatchet"* is a kewl name, but why not keep the name only in principle, and drop the dumb a$$ tomahawk, and carry something actually practical like a boys axe, preferably something swedish? I'm obviously nitpicking, but as someone that's done SERE work for a decade, everytime I see a tomahawk I cringe. They're the highpoint of edged tools. If you were to show up to a SERE class with a hawk on your pack you'd be roasted all weekend. They're equatable to a pistol caliber carbine with a 18 inch barrel. It's obviously irrelevant and I'm being a petty betch, but everytime I see your cutscenes looking Gucci in the jungle, it's ruined by that dumb a$$ tool. Drop the hawk, and pickup a small forest (I think they're equally as gimmicky, but infinitely more capable). If size end weight is a concern I have a 1000g Basque I'd be willing to ship, just so long as you never post tomahawk related scene ever again, lol. It's a highly desireable, hand crafted slip fit axe; like a tomahawk. There's only one man on the planet producing them, for a company that's hundreds of years old. He's in his 90's, and will be retiring shortly, making the basques impossible to come by. They're regarded as the standard. Due to makers age the quality has started to slip, but I have several from a decade ago. Just tak it, and post a video burning that damn tomahawk...
I'm a 2-10x fanboi as well, ever since I regrettably sold my NF years ago, I've been searching for a good compromise. Would you recommend this over the Trijicon? I've been using my mk4 back and forth on my DMR's, but it really is a sht optic.
I think I sold your shop an FNC a few months ago via GunBroker. Does that ring a bell? I'm 99% sure it was "triple A," and it was a shop in Florida.
