Cool, I like this kind of content. China is large and diverse. Tier 3 city is something I haven't had chance to know about. In village, they have election. I mean real election to found village committee. It calls grass-roots democracy. It is very good if you have chance to talk with the local about it. Cheers

Someone mentioned Daniel Dumbrill who is also a Canadian and fellow vlogger. I have enjoyed many of his videos... one set took me thru Tibet. Another vlogger I recently discovered is Anni Guli who is a young pretty Uyghur who makes videos of Xinjiang. Thing is, she speaks Mandarin (I believe)... can't understand anything she says... but she is charming and exuberates a very positive girlish spirit. Love you guys videos. Keep it up. You talk... but I look at the surroundings and scenery behind you. When we see what you see, world ignorance will be conquered.
The first time I came to China many years ago, I stood on a junction of the Great Wall just outside of Beijing. I look at the wall going over mountains one way,... then look at the wall going over mountains the other way... and I thought, "they got 4000 miles of this??? Man, I'm proud to be half-Chinese!" My other half is Japanese. Proud to be Japanese too. Katana... most perfect sword in the world... not only a deadly weapon but a beautiful object of art.

I come from Shunde ! What I want to talk about Shunde is that in fact it is a rich city in China,(may be seems a littel tradtional and not so many tall buildings),it has two top 500 companies in the world. It is the hometown of Bruce LEE, it is one of the "Captial of food" admitted by the UNISCO

Don't think this is considered 'rural' in China. Like what Numuves said, tier 3 city/town maybe, or just a small town.
There are other extremely rural, mountainous town/villages.
Maybe he can do some videos on the really rural ones.
