Looks like you had a sudden oil pump failure. Wow, this is rare. I've flown this for thousands of hours during development and never had an oil pump failure in flight. I'm glad you captured it. If felt so real. This is why we gave the failure rate sliders to increase the chance of these things happening. Great job.
The simulation of the engine literally destroying itself due yo lack of oil blew my mind! You should be extremely proud of this product u made! Thank you for stopping by
Does failures needs to be turned on in MSFS options?
No the failures are independent of MSFS
As EVERYONE who has reviewed this aircraft ALL say this is the most realistic plane available for purchase in the sim. If you want to or are going for your PPL, this plane is a wonderful add-on tutorial, thanks! !! !!!
Yea the way i see it also. Im learning so much about how to take care of the engine and spot internal issues. That can be life saving
I'd doubt if It would be a good idea to let someone do PPL training in a high performance plane like the Comanche hehe.
@@caribbaviator7058 It isnt. The good news is that A2A basically used the Comanche for the development of their new platform. I really hope that now once the platform is ready, they can start converting their old planes like the C172 to Accusim 2.0.
This best plane in the simulator regarding a ga plane
@@kaefermichaify i am really hoping the 172 makes a return to msfs. i loved that plane in p3d and it really put me back into flying the 172 vs the dc-3 i typically parked my butt in lol
Holy shit, the level of detail during the engine failure is amazing! The vibrations at 25:17 say it all 👌
I hope to never experience this in real life but the detail is so amazing
Looks like you lost oil pressure. The prop pitch governor works with oil pressure so that’s the first thing that went and what caused the RPM to get so high out of nowhere. Without that lubrication, your engine then slowly tore itself to shreds. Amazing level of detail!
Wow!! Thats is amazing level of detail but what would cause the loss of oil pressure?
@@BluGamesas you saw in the maintenance page of the tablet at the end of the video, the oil pump stopped working
@@BluGames Well that is of later concern. Procedures for Oil pressure loss are in the manual and Emergency checklist Loss of oil pressure.
Good spot. So okay, at 24 minutes we see the bottom left engine instruments needle drop to nothing and the rpm needle shoot up at the same time. We see at 7:21 that the oil pump was orange before the engine started. The details on it at 8:50 showed it as still being airworthy. Oil temperature looks okay on takeoff. Any idea what he did wrong?
@@weswheel4834nothing besides going in the air with a worn oil pump. If I had to guess, he had the wrong oil for the conditions he was flying in.
That was certainly a fatal hull loss. I'll say one thing, at least you kept fatalities to the 4 of you and didn't take out any homes or schools in the process!
Excellent video. I need you to keep making videos of this beauty!
Thank you so much. But it was 4 fatalities too many
@@BluGames Sometimes it can't be helped, lol!
One little nugget I was taught is that groundspeed = survival. Crashing at 80 knots has 4x the energy as crashing at 40 knots. The FAA's Pilot Knowledge and Operating Handbook does the math and concludes if you crash at 50 mph with a 9G deceleration your ground roll will be 9.4 feet. Double speed is 37.6 feet.
Crash at VS0 with full flaps and into the wind and statistics say you'll walk away. This plane is PERFECT for practicing.
your friend in the backsit seemed on shock 😂
l’m loving the comanche too!!
I had exact the same failure. Luckily on downwind. Judging height vs energy, deciding when to turn, crabbing, etc, is a very useful exercise for real life.
Nice sounds like u atleast survived! Yea good practice
I do hope they'll make use of the soft material physics when 2024 comes out. That way we can see the tiedowns unravel instead of just snapping off
That would be a great little detail
Thanks the crash was excellent learnt a lot. First lesson, check oil pressure asap. Look for landing sight and land into wind full flaps at stall speed. Which is better, gear down or leave up?
Most cases gear down
Watched a few videos on this plane, and this one was THE BEST!
Wow, thanks! Glad u enjoyed it
This is why I love this aircraft! I was flying it the other day and had an oil line disconnect. Lost all oil and seized the engine.
Yes exactly
Really nice ! Well made. Which ATC Tool did you used for voice commanding / communication ?
I used pilotedge
Awesome vid. Did you disconnect Pilotedge? I understand they will support an emergency.
I have not seen the whole video but at around 21.37 you tell there is something wrong with the brakes. Irl I would have to abort the flight and get back to the hanger to let it checked. Will watch the rest of the video.
Yea should have stayed on the ground
wouldnt it be awesome if soft physics and damage modeling was introduced. Man that would be amazing
Yeah I agree
Right at 24:00 you say it "doesn't feel twitchy", and immediately your oil pressure drops to zero. 😂 oof!
Big ooof
Pilot Edge controllers are just as hesitant to handle emergencies as VATSIM huh? Shame given it is a paid service for training.
Sometimes they will except it but i didnt want to bother them
27:45 look on their faces! LOL. Awesome! Imagine if they eventually add realistic damage/fire/reaction by passengers, LOL. IT would truly be a lot of fun!
That would be EPIC!!
You have to turn the fuel tanks switch to on to be able to check the sumps
That wasn't a crash. That was landing ... with style! And I purchased this today. Only 1 flight so far, but wow - very impressive. Hope this pushes the competition a bit and we see more releases that are this well done.
With style!!!
Great content, just my cup of tea! Dumb question: did you do Red Dead Redemption Let's Plays back in the day? I remember a great series from guy named blu
No i didnt sadly!! I would have loved to tho! I love the rdr2 story
Great video. You should sue Pilotedge for making you fly below 2,500ft. If you'd been at 4,500ft then you'd have had more time. They owe you a new plane ;)
Yea exactly!! Jk technically i had to stay below 3000 to avoid the burban class charlie airspace
Mine just broke on finals after a hour flight in the Austrian mountains. Man, almost had a heart attack.
Wow that sounds intense
Yep Jarmin 750. I was begging you to check your oil pressure, that was entertaining.
Lol i know now…
I used the FSX C172 from A2A for my real life PPL training. Already that plane was fantastic, but the VFR experience of FSX even with the VFR Germany addons leaves lot to be desired. After all, it was a platform from 2006, and the age shows. MSFS lacked great VFR planes so far, and since MSFS is so fantastic for VFR training, finally with the arrival of A2A we have a great PPL trainer. I just hope they bring the A2A C172 trainer to MSFS with Accusim 2.0 - the Comanche is a great plane, but it certainly is not a trainer.
I would love the c172 to practice for my training
What do you mean it's not a trainer?🤔
Hey Blue Games, are you still having the problem with brakes that can be seen at 21:07 ? I've been struggling with this problem too and so have a few other people that replied to my post on the A2A forums. Something's wrong with the brakes post 1.1 I believe.
1 of my brakes actually failed. So i fixed it on the maintenance screen after the flight
@@BluGames And you never had the problem again ?
I doubt it was the reason to be honest because I've been having the exact same issue with the brakes you had in this video but mine were never broken in the maintenance screen. Yours were most likely broken because it was an auction plane.
Huh how do you get your passengers to be visible? Mine are invisible.
In the weight & balance screen just click on the passenger boxes and they should populate
@@BluGames Yeah I know how to add them but they don't visually shown when I do.
That was surprising realistic, I’m glad to see more developers including those aspects of flying, in real flying it’s not if but when! A few months ago I lost a cylinder on upwind and definitely needed a new pair of pants. Not that it would have help in that instant but always stop the windmilling propeller and pull the prop control to low rpm for best glide distance
I've always believed that it takes a special type of person to be a pilot. Cautious but not fearful, confident, but not arrogant.
Interesting to watch this engine failure, but apart from the fact that it could have been prevented by proper checks, the pilot’s reaction was far from appropriate. In reality you have little time at such low altitude (a reason to study and memorize emergency checklists as well), but in order to lower fire hazard upon landing you should at least turn magnetos off, mixture off, fuel pump off and fuel tanks disconnected. Also unlock the door, otherwise the door might not open after damaging the airframe. Lower gear and flaps when you know you can make it to the desired landing field. You could have walked away choosing the adjacent field, but now I fear you might have had four fatalities, either by the crash or a subsequent fire.
How does the pot look if there is water in the fuel tank? How to differ water from fuel in the pot in the simulator? Thank you.
Fuel is blue.
Water is clear.
If theres water u will see clear liquid on top of the blue liquid inside the cup.
@@BluGames Why is water on top of a blue liquid if gasoline is lighter than water. So the water must be under the gasoline.
@@BluGames This video by Scott (A2A) shows that water is under fuel ("Accu-Sim Comanche 250 MSFS Walk Around" timecode from 04 : 12)
Fuel selector has to be on left or right main tank to check fuel
The engine monitor did indicate 0 oil pressure
Wow i need to watch this back again and look closer
Hi...I just purchased this highly detailed aircraft...I'm gonna love it. Question: how did you get the tablet to be outside with you during the walk-around?
When you click walkaround mode in the tablet. Its goes with you
@@BluGames DUH.....Thank you, sir.
Not very realistic, that lady should be freaking out, screaming and making the situation worse
Great review, what are you using for ATC that sounds great
Its a paid atc network called “pilotedge”
Thanks I checking that out!
After putting fuel in the tanks, did you check for water in the tank again ? Not that it mattered .. lol You landed with a lot of speed , to much in this case , especially with faulty brakes ..allways come in as slow as you can ,sideslipping, flaps, and taking your time can save your ass and your plane.. As they say "if you can walk away from the aircraft, it was a good landing and If you can use the aircraft again, it was a perfect landing"..
Copy that
A little late to this video, but wanted to say the reason you had trouble taxi'ing and during take off was because you still had the parking brake set 'on' from when you were holding short at the runway :) I'm impressed you actually got it off the ground!
Edit: At least it was already on for landing tho!
Lol!!! Thanks better late then never
When oil pressure is lost the oil can't circulate in the engine and why CHO cylinder head overheat displayed, causing temps to seize the engine in flight.☕
Lol thank you. Your are exactly correct
Hmm, in owning this one first time I saw an engine loss. Good landing despite the wing hitting the hill. Loll
Oil pressure went bye bye lol
Mhm
I've been flying the A2A Comanche in FSX then in P3D since 2012 or so, but I'm very impressed with the MSFS version. I'm waiting for A2A to release the P-40 in MSFS before I make the switch.
I'm hoping they bring back the J3. I know we have an abundance of Cubs in MSFS, but we don't have a single really good J3.
Great video! I love the realism that it brings to the sim, but I wonder if this plane is still a good option for non-pilots, what are your thoughts? Thanks!
Yes, absolutely
get that prop feathered!
Now i know lol
you lost your oil pump
Is that what it was? How do you know?
@@BluGames You probably already reviewed by now but yea the oil pressure gauge went to 0 instantly, had to go back myself. Pretty cool how it will make a person have to react fast in a situation like that.
@@BluGames Oil Pressure gauge was at 0 before the engine quit and the pump was one of the components that had completely failed in the inspection
I just wander - why oil pump died so quickly. How many hours you've put into aircraft? It was yellow on inspection, and really did not show, that it can fail so quickly, I believe... Did you have real time wear, or speed it up? I just wander, because it does not look realistic if it can happen that quick. Just a though.
Well he had a used aircraft so it was already preworn to some degree
I sped up the wear and tear
Bet the guy in that pickup truck was quite surprised.
Heya, what were you using for ATC? sounded like live atc of some sort? cheers
Pilotedge.net for atc.
Great experience. And for the emergence of this model. Well worth the value of $50. And I got last night. I am in the middle of setting up my cockpit views the way I like. I have as well have all the Saitek panels. I was wondering if they would connect. I heard that people said they don't properly. But All are working for me. Great video Blu.
That was really interesting to see. Saved your passengers, dude! Nice one.
Thanks a ton!
At 24 he lost oil pressure, ok, but while he was on ground, nothing was so wrong to cancel the flight.
So, it was a really random failure? or he did something wrong in flight?
got my carb get frozen today, restarted engine 1000ft above ground
Thats cool!
I know what I’m saving up for
Was that vatsim or pilot edge?
Maybe I missed it, but did you attempt to feather the prop?
After i lost the engine no i didnt
It may not have gone into feather if you were already in a runaway situation, which it seems you were.
Did you exercise the prop before takeoff?
Very, very, very few single-engine piston aircraft, with controllable pitch props, have the ability to feather. The best you can do is get them into a very coarse pitch, assuming the prop is still turning and there is nothing wrong with the oil pump. The very coarse pitch may help if the prop is not turning, but not sure what the results would be if it was still windmilling with that coarse pitch.
How did you get the maintenance hanger with the plane up on bricks?
The hangar is a scenery. But the bricks are built into the maintance secrion of the plane
Great video , the best streamer in GA I WOULD SAY
Jeez wow thank you!
Amazing simulation of engine failure, horrible aeronautical decision making in response tho
When something goes wrong at the A2A
Piper Comanche 250
But this can be repaired or inspected, right?
(Which airport did you take off from?) 🛫✈️🛩️🛬
Yea u can prevent many of these failures with normal maintance. I took off from KVNY i think
At least you didn't die alone! haha. Too high, too fast.
Lol
Do you prefer Pilotedge over Vatsim?
PE has the advantage of pretty much non stop coverage, but for a smaller area and a fee.
Within the Pilotedge area
thanks- nice, fun, relatively quick, informative intro....
On calibrating the compass, doesn't pressing 'D' do it as well?
Yes, as long as this plane follows the MSFS default keyboard actions.
I havent tried this one.
After flying for 5-10mins, the manifold pressure drops to zero, the Comanche lost power and dive to the ground. The aircraft doesn't respond even when I add more power with the throttle.
Any reason for the sudden lost of power?
You destroying your engine, lower that rpm and mixture
@@curtisridge2506 noted thanks, didn't know this is stimulated in A2A too.
Lots of things could be the problem, it is a complex sim. But if you lose manifold pressure the first thing I would check is icing and flip on the carb heat to see if it helps. Also, follow the emergency checklists
Hes right
@@curtisridge2506 I reduced the RPM and mixture, the engine still stall after 5-10 minutes. Probably is carb heat problem.
Yessir
No Oil Pressure.
Yeaa…
I think you died
RIP
But at least he missed the truck driving through the scrub by about 6 feet!
He died when he got the bill for the overhaul, and other damages.
Man it looks so nice
It is
