Something I forgot to mention. It’s so fun playing these old games again, when we had to use our imagination. Today’s games are stunningly beautiful but I find much more pleasure in these older console and computer games. You could really get lost in these. am I crazy or do others feel the same way? I’m curious.
Not crazy at all mate im the same ... i spend 90% of my gaming time on old games as they are far better...as long as there is a nostalgia factor...thats something that no matter how flashy new games are will never have
Mate I agree wholeheartedly, I love the new games and systems but when I was a kid these games took genuine skill and hand eye coordination and they're still more fun to play I think.
@@purplehaze2342 - you are 100% correct!! There’s a reason why these old games are still so popular today!! Most of the garbage that comes out today disappears after a year or two!
Ah, my childhood was great, I owned or played pretty much all of these
I absolutely loved super sprint, spent so many hours playing this on my brother's ST.
Cant argue with number 1 , Turrican 2 is my top on ST or Amiga, such a go to , easy to pick up and play game!
The way I played Populous, I always built two levels of land whereas the enemy AI only built one level. After playing a couple of hours, when both had a lot of land & people, I made it flood. All of my people were safe whereas all the enemy houses were sunk. A few stragglers managed to swim to the shore but they were easily dealt with.
Dude! You’re on fire today. Two amazing videos. That FM Townes stuff was amazing. I never knew there were so many great arcade ports!!
So these videos are videos i had to take down from my real channel 2 years ago...but they are an important part of my channels history, thats why i started this channel to dump them here
@@osg-extrabits3152 - ahh... I didn’t even realize this was the extra vita channel. I subscribe to both and these just come up in my “new videos” list that I scroll through many times a day.
Great list, some I hadn't seen before. A few missing in action were Virus and Sleep Walker. The latter made use of the STE's advanced graphics and sound, making it akin to the quality of its Amiga counterpart.
21:49 The green disembodied head of a woman pops up and asks "Where did YOU learn to fly?"
Spent many hours playing this on my old C64. First game I bought when I got my Atari ST, simply brilliant. Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes back with Elite in my top 10 Atari ST games.
Great vid osg.. some fab choices.
I used to play altered beast on my mates ST as a kid, along with kickoff which I used to be ok at...however I tried playing it recently on antstream for the Amiga it's safe to say I got hammered. Turrican 2 is still brilliant I often play the SNES version. Great picks by the way fella
Amazing! have to mention Rocket Ranger and Barbarian 2 :)
I loved my ST although I used mine mainly for music and recording. It was fantastic for music back in the day. Ive seen archive studio footage of Depeche Mode and they were using the STE to help record one of their albums.
But I still found time to play some fantastic games. I’m glad you had DM at #1. That and Chaos Strikes Back were brilliant. I can still recall the excitement and tension of wandering around those corridors. Give me that over things like Elden Ring anytime.
Llamatron too. Another classic. Used to sit up to the early hours with my housemate playing 2 player. We finished all the levels, killing off the Screaming Mandies on level 99 before looping around it all again.
I would have also picked these games.
Eye Of The Beholder - Like Dungeon Master with an upgrade
Ishar 1 and 2 - A French company, I believe (Silmarils). Another RPG but with beautiful graphics.
Fire And Ice - Stunning but tough platformer starring Cool Coyote. Took nearly 2 hours to play from start to finish
Gods - Bitmap brothers Greek god themed platform game. Classy and very addictive
As was The Chaos Engine. More Bitmap Brothers. Great 2 player fun.
The Killing Game Show - seemingly forgotten masterpiece. You’re a prisoner in a mech suit. Aim = get to the top of the level before the deadly, rising liquid death catches you. Some of the levels were designed so that you got to the exit literally with microseconds to spare. I had to rub chalk into my palm as it was so sweaty from stress that the joystick kept slipping 😮
Lure Of The Temptress - Point and Click adventure in a Game of Thrones type world. No titties though.
Cannon Fodder - guide your platoon through the jungle killing the gooks. Id be traumatised if one of my little men died 💀
Can you make an only-joystick game ranking? Ideal collection to retroconsole without keyboard.
dungeon master the best ...a lot of nights ,days :)
I loved the Defender of the crown, played all day
Great choices!
It was an amazing time for game design. So many indie developers pushing the envelope.
I didn't know about Time Bandit being a game. Nice
Carrier Command, Defender of the Crown, Dungeon Master... amazing games....
RoboCop 2, Xenon 2, magic pocket, creatures, ork, lotus Esprit, Italy '90, final fight, midnight resistance
Missing Another World, R-Type, LucasArts adventures...
Agree, they were genre breaking. Still get that warm fuzzy feeling just thinking about those games. Especially Another World on my friend’s Amiga
Nice list
Oids should be on this list!
F16 combat pilot, Millennium 2.2, Oil imperium, Megalomania, Frontier, Vroom, Lotus turbo challenge , Risky woods, Wonderboy in monsterland, Joust should be on the list.....
You got Oids and Dungeon Master, so where's Sundog ????
@@Kire2112 Never mind the top 30 Atari ST games. Sundog is the only one that matters.
We all know the best game on the Atari ST was Dungeon Master I played for hours non stop it was the only reason I bought an st
I'd definitely rank Dungeon Master as #1, followed by Kick Off 2 and Turrican 2, and there are a couple of notable absences, but overall I'd say I agree with about 75% of these.
I don't know, there is a couple of game on here I liked so to each their own I guess.
My all time faves are Star Raiders, Mis. command, Packman, Astroids, Donkey Kong, Space invaders, An F-15 jet fighter game. 7 City's of Gold and some ultima games. Oh yeah, even though it was a text only game it was still fun. A game called Zork.
I really miss my Atari St computer. I'm tempted to find one for sale (if I could find a working one that is) and play all the old and really fun games.
My most played games where Lotus esprit with my brother or gianna sisters (that main theme song still gives me the feelings).
Not long after the atari I got a nintendo 8 bit -> a sega megadrive 16bit -> playstation 1 -> ps3
I still have each machine at home , but where the atari is ....😢 the only one I dont have anymore!
Lotus Esprit Turbo? Loved that game! We used to play 2 player on two separate monitors in different rooms and took great amusement from slagging opponent off by using a ride player name
Nice list! That’s not the ST version of Lemmings, though.
Comment faire vous pour enregistrer l'écran ?
It's strange how Super sprint passed me by. I loved Super off-road, Supercars and Nitro but never played Super sprint. I thought Wings of death would make it in with your love of shooters.
I played Nitro on my friends Amiga and loved it, but nothing came close to the simplicity of Super Sprint.
Childhood!
What is that karate game in the Elite section? You forgot to separate it.
@14:00 they got that sound clip from a scaffolding accident !!!!
Come on OSG it's been like a year and you said it was on the way!
Vroom is missing
Honestly I always thought that at least for the Atari ST "Flight if the Intruder" was MUCH better than Falcon... but alas.
Think I would've had Midwinter instead of Time Bandits... solid list nonetheless though - props for having Hunter in there; no-one seems to remember that!
i do and Midwinter II, both are forgotten in time but truly esp 2 open the world for multi vehicle open world. Where at that time could you grab a car , drive to the beach, get a sub, go to another island, come back and your car would still be there, all in in a massive 3D open world, it had more vehicle variety than GTA to be honest
👍👍
😍😍
I think, OIDS is missing
Warhead!
What about jug
i beat two rounds of llamatron :)
Supers cars 1 and 2
where is CAPTIVE!
where s vroom ?
Indiana jones and the last crusade
replace buggy boy with VROOM and Speedball with ANOTHER WORLD Gauntled with PANZA KICK BOXING dungeon master with ELVIRA 2 bubble bobble with BACKLASH add ELTIE FRONTIER CORRIDOR NORTH AND SOUTH
IMO Midwinter 2 was better than Hunter.
Deuteros.
Wizzball
"Ever made"... You're american, aren't you? Many good games missing, namely Delphine software ones : Operation Stealth, Future Wars (les Voyageurs du temps), Another World, and so much more : Toki, Vroom, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, Sherman M4, Arkanoid, ...
How could you leave out Midwinter? Are you a communist or something? 😀
If these are the best I'd hate to see the worst!?? Only IK+ & Turrican 2 that look decent games! Thanks for the video though....but your C64 and Amiga videos had much better games ;-)
Weird dreams looks amazing and sound 2
Bonjour OSG. IK+ / Vroom / SpeedBall 2.
Where the fuck is Xenon 2 Megablast?
Game is pretty crap tbh mate, music and graphics are good .... but gameplay is like watching paint dry
dungeon master probably the best for me
Of course :)
IK+ / Vroom / SpeedBall 2.
