I just had my gas valve replaced because I was having same issue.. New one worked, but stopped firing up due to low voltage.. everything replaced and worked... 2 weeks later... same issue.. and will only fire up when I tap on the gas valve where the wires go into it
What a shame to trash that 35 year old beauty with all the bells and whistles when you can buy a universal RobertShaw or Honeywell intermittent spark controller all day long on ebay or Amazon for under a hundred bucks. And here I sit with my rusty old faithful stripped down version of your Lennox G12. Geez!

Replacement Residio (Honeywell) S8610U - 3009. I'm not an expert so make sure you cross reference this with Lennox parts expert.
This was perfect for me. Same exact furnace from the same year and same wires.
