NHTSA New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) Frontal Impact:
The frontal crash test evaluates injury to the head, neck, chest, and legs of the driver and front seat passenger. Crash test dummies representing an average-sized adult male and a small-sized adult female are placed in the driver and front passenger seats, respectively, and are secured with seat belts. Vehicles are crashed into a fixed barrier at 35 mph (56.3km/h), which is equivalent to a head-on collision between two similar vehicles each moving at 35 mph. 1 star is the lowest rating; 5 stars is the highest. More stars equal safer cars.

It just seems to me that cars have gone from intelligently picking which airbags to set off to just pushing a big button that says "DEPLOY ALL THE THINGS!" Fender benders are going to start firing off all eight or nine airbags, deafening the occupants and totaling the car after a 10 mph love tap.
deloreanman14 I think they are trying to be as safe as possible but I completely get what you mean It wouldn’t be fun or a minor accident to cause the airbag to deploy

very strange with the delay on the right curtain airbags though the body itself stayed pretty rigid so that's good at least
The passenger side curtain airbags didn't deploy until the car began to rebound backwards and then began to lift off of the ground (look closely at the passenger side front tire). It was at that point it probably thought a rollover was imminent. Still doesn't explain why the driver side curtain airbags deployed when it did independent of the passenger side.

Jaem Maddog maybe wait till later models of this redesign I have heard new models or redesigned ones can have bugs that need to be worked out and will be with later model years
This car does awesome in crash tests. Very impressed. But it wouldn’t even crash like this. Rear ended maybe.
