This is so so good.. wow.. this hit me big time right after the first listening.. and now.. after the 7th or 8th listening.. it just sounds perfect.. what a brilliant blues song .. I may sip some more beer here and listen to it one more time.. then no more I swear ... just one more time :)
Well, they can't go wrong with the source material...if you like this check out the original version on Tom's Glitter and Doom LP for the definitive fire and brimstone, apocalyptic heft version.
Loving the original Tom one of course... what's not to love in Tom Waits and his musicks ? This is just one incredible cover by some incredible musicians... as long as there is some new music like this this world is not totally lost and fucked up :)
Very excited to see it played in less then a week! Warren always has some great special guest and seems to enjoy playing the TAB. Every song released so far is spot on.
Found this gem this evening on radio here in New Zealand called 95bfm whilst driving in the rain it felt good whilst driving in the rain 🌧 it has a nostalgic vibe to it, what a mad track I love it!
Saw the Mule last Saturday night with Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams and The Avett Brothers. Warren and the boys just blew us all away! They did such a beautiful job on this tune, damn near made me cry.
Absolutely pure genius! Just when you think you may be missing the original vocal "attack" of Tom Waits, you realize that the band has turned this into a complete differente beast, just by adding a new groove to it, but keeping the original "intent", Warren's vocals as soulful as ever ... and the keys add a whole new dimension to the song! THIS is what a cover version is all about!
Muito bom.Muito obrigado. Grande blues, ouvindo agora as três horas e vinte minutos da madrugada, depois de assisti um documentário sobre Stugis Rally, fechando a madruga com chave de ouro. Sucesso sempre para vocês. Felicidades from south of Brasil!
Another brilliant cover and blues tribute. Can't wait for the album to come out already. Warren Haynes is definitely one of the greatest guitarists of our generation.
Really great interpretation of a solid tom waits song. If you don't know Tom, don't start with this song or the real gone record. Go back to the earl stuff like night hawks or ol' 55. Go in order of the albums and your love/appreciation of waits will grow with each record as the waits style evolves with each one. Waits is an american treasure. An artists artist.
guys from GOV'T MULE here is a big fan of you here in Brazil, I listen and buy the band's albums since the beginning, it all culminated in seeing a show of yours, in the Netherlands, but precisely in Amsterdam, at the club melkweg, on July 8, 2014, considering this a dream come true, to see you playing live, provided by my eldest son, who at the time was attending college in Holland and the funny thing that was on the fateful day, that in Brazil our team player trailed 7-1 to Germany. Anyway guys, listening to this new album from you, I continue to be impressed with such virtuosity and performance of the band. I can't wait to have this physical CD in my collection, big hug here from Fabrizio from the beautiful country called Brazil !!! 🇧🇷
Warren told somebody up front before a song at Steel Stacks " this guitar cost less than your hat, this is a 149 dollar guitar. The best 149 dollars I ever spent".
Play this album over and over, never get tired of it.........

It’s good but it’s not Tom good. Nice tribute to the master, though.
Yo, listen to Mr Tom Waits sing it to ya ✌🏻 life changing

Tom waits to me is the Greatest but i love the Mule and this is magic, you have done a fantastic job of this track warren.
That guitar solo, pure vintage blues style, just Great!
Allen Woody , I miss him dearly His birthday was 10/3 RIP BRO
I don't really know that much about bass, but his sound was instantly recognizable. Huge loss.

This song is very beautiful! Warren Haynes, I think, is the best guitarist of our time.
100% AGREE!!!!
It’s a Tom Waits song…
And Derek Trucks 🙂

Agreed. Sublime
Sincere sentiment, oh man! Solid bottom, driving soul into the threshold of inner truth. Grateful 🙏🙏🙏
Sparse arrangement makes this sound nice and raw. Great guitar tone and vocal growl. I would like the vamp and fills to go on for 20 minutes

Warren told somebody up front before a song at Steel Stacks " this guitar cost less than your hat, this is a 149 dollar guitar. The best 149 dollars I ever spent".
OH HELL YEAH
Is it Tom on guest vocals maybe?
"I'm not Abel, I'm just Cain" haha. #yeahuright
✨🔥✨
Thanks Tom Waits
Show me the hard ass cover of tribal mules
Unless you’ve been through what the protagonist in the song has you can’t relate They nailed it. I though the original was brilliant but a little fast
Ok, quite nice cover, but I prefer Tom Waits' original.
It's not really about trying to make a better song. It's about paying tribute. And putting a different spin on a good song.
That's my favorite band Warren Haynes took Duane Allmans place in the Allmans Bros.
