@MJ oh man, that's too bad. Maybe then leave a box or bag with "free books" on a bench somewhere (don't forget to come back and remove the box/bag and leftovers). Most people love taking free books with them
@MJ my village has an old telephone box turned into a little free library. Plus there's one at the local co-op and a little café. My library accepts books too.

I wish you would've given Six Of Crows and Crooked Kingdom a go! It can absolutely stand alone without the S&B trilogy and it's SO much better it's incredible! Kudos for unhauling this much!
Jaws is an atrocious book and it should NEVER been read. I unhauled it the moment I finished it.

It doesn't sound like you've actually read Six of Crows, so maybe give it and Crooked Kingdom a try before getting rid of them.
I'm not a huge fan of YA fantasy, but I really enjoyed that duology and it stands on its own. (I still haven't read anything else by her, except half of Ninth House.)
I hear you. I can't sell my unhauls. Not cut out for that life, because selling stresses me out. Love donating to charity shops, free libraries, and school libraries.

OMG YES! Where the Crawdads Sing is a book I associate with a negative person. Luckily, I didn't like the book so I was more then willing to through it in the unhaul box and never look back 😂

With YA it’s the repetitiveness that I can’t deal with. Like I don’t need to be reminded every 3 pages why the character feels this way, what happened to make them feel that way again, nor how troubling the decision is for the character or others involved. I drives me crazy. That’s why I can’t do YA.

When I get rid of ARCs, I take them to my local used bookstore and put them in the free bin- I don’t have a free little library so that’s the best option
I got way more invested in this than I thought I would lol Though I would say that six of crows duology is way different from the shadow and bones trilogy, so maybe give that another try. But I don't know your reading taste well enough yet to know if you'd enjoy it or not :)

I associate “The Perks of Being a Wildflower” with a past breakup. It was the book I was reading when I was going through the breakup. I haven’t been able to finish reading it or watch the movie because of that event.

It's obviously completely up to you, but Gavin, as someone who DNFed the first Shadow and Bone book, but absolutely loved the Netflix show adaptation, and within one week read the Six of Crows duology, and is trying to contemplate what to read next that could match the level of love I have for a group of characters such as much as the ones in Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom I really think you should have kept those two books at least. However, that's just me and if you ever wanted to reexplore the Grishaverse later in a video vlog I would 100% be here for it and I don't think I would be alone on that.
For what to do with the arcs, you could leave them in a free little library (if you have any near you).
Haven't watched the video yet but I'm guessing you're going to have to unhaul 300 books.
Critical Reception for Taylor Jenkins Reid currently exist on a spectrum between Jack Edwards (favourable) to Gavin Heatherington (relatively less favourable)

My poor completionist heart can't fathom stopping a series before the end, but I'm glad your shelves have space for books you actually want! If your local library does book sales, they may take those arcs off your hands. I always see a ton of arcs for $1-2 donations at my library in the US. 🤔

Watched this while icing a pumpkin spice cake and then eating a piece. I feel the same about the Spellslinger books. The first one was entertaining so I got the second one but then I couldn't get myself to care anymore to actually read it.
Earlier this year I sorted out a lot of bring-me-no-spark-of-joy books, but now I'm sorting out the ones in my enormous 90+ TBR list. I've whittled them (brutally) down to c.30 books! Feels good to flick the old cr*p XD
Now I can read this lot of books I'm actually excited to read, and keep playing God of War Ragnarok (which is fantastic btw!)

For the ARCs, you should do a video with some kind of big book project. Like making art using pages from the ARCs you don't want
Sad because I love the city of brass series but if you're feeling relieved than it is definitely the right decision for you! Lol I always donate my unhaul books as well because I can't be bothered with the selling and the packaging and ultimately I might make some profit but I get enough review books that I feel like giving to charity is a good full cycle. I think the court of miracles was meh I unhauled my illumicrate copy even though it was gorgeous. Okay i get the shadow and bone but ngl the six of crows hurt me a lil. I read spellslinger but it was meh and unhauled my signed copy.
I totally agree about the Netflix stickers that can't come off, I hate it when books have them. At least make them a real sticker, so I can take it off if I want to...

An Idea to donate your arcs, a good place might be like a community home/residential home for people with disabilities or people that are not able to live by themselves (I don't know what the proper terminology in the UK is, but I know here in Germany are often happy to take book donations)

I totally get that idea of getting rid of stuff that you associate with someone, like I went on a date thing with this guy at the cinema and it ended so badly I have never watched that movie again 😂😂😂
I paused to see if anything on my TBR pile or shelf could be unhauled so that I could participate and typically to help me decide I'll read the synopsis and ask if that is interesting to me and then also see what the average Goodreads rating is, I do not go by rating alone but sometimes the rating helps me decide. If I'm questioning my interest AND the Goodreads average rating is below 3.5 then I feel safer unhauling a book. Unfortunately for my shelves, I've currently got a stack of about 27 books that all sound promising to me and are at least 3.6 average ratings on Goodreads. I do not keep books I've read that I dislike, they immediately go into a bin that I keep for unhauling so that my read shelves are books I'm happy to look at. So much for participating in some unhauling/cleaning of my space.
OH NO SPELLSLINGER! I've been trying to collect that complete series in the same size! I love that series so much but everytime I order a book it comes in a different size which has been driving me insane! Typically I prefer adult series, but I personally could not get into the Great Cloaks series and I've always preferred the Spellslinger world.
I'm feeling that side eye all the way over here in North Dakota. That's ok we don't have the same taste in every book.
I totally get that with relating books to people and also not having the want to sell books. I always give books to charity or my sisters when I do an unhaul

Re: what to do with ARCs, I've directly recycled them, as well as books that are leaving my collection taht are simply in too poor of a shape to give to the used book store. Paper recycling generally do accept paperbacks without issue; take the covers off of hardbacks.
I have not had that many PSLs this year - but I might have to try this for the ones I have had!

Yes I had to unhaul a few books associated with a toxic ex friend. Totally understand about associated a book to a friend. I try now, not to associated any books with friends.

the only one i think i've read is the midnight library which i absolutely loved, it really impacted me, i found so much relatableability in it and just yhh i totally read it at the right point in my life. but... i do see how some people don't like it and whatnot but i'd keep it haha x great video i love watching you talk about books
