Building Muscle with Kettlebell Swings : Try This Small Change
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2020
- If your focus is building muscle with kettlebell swings, at some point your going to have to progressively lift heavier.
The Kettlebell swing is not a lift with your arms, yet you ABSOLUTELY use the muscles in your upper back, shoulders and arms to do the exercise. It's silly to say you don't.
The heavier you go the more arms you'll have to use. This is great if you are doing our heavy 50 swings a day focus.
Try this tip to activate more muscle for your heavy kettlebell swings that will keep you safer and in better control as well.
Please share anywhere you wish.

Total game changer, thank you.
Very welcome
This is a great detail, not just for building muscle, but even more importantly, to protect the ligaments like you mentioned. I’m going to start doing swings this way!
Exactly.
subtle external cues make a world of difference - good stuff!
Thank you yes they can!
Another great cue. Thank you sir
Great coaching as always.
Thank you
Solid idea! I feel my bad lit up on even light swings.
Brilliant way of explaining the swing, really good explanation
Than k you
Awesome addition to the swing
Lemme know how it goes.
i also feel like when I keep a bit of a bend in my elbows, I feel it more in my arms and chest because I'm resisting the bell from swinging all the way out? it's easier to do the swing though, because the length of the pendulum is shorter. I'd like to try that in combination with the pulling at the edge of the grip. really is amazing how much you can do with such a "simple" exercise. it's been a lifesaver during COVID. thanks!
Thanks for the tip brother.
Of course. Hope it helps you
Worth the try, thanks!
Very welcome
Body gains and goals....🔥🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤❤ Thank you from Detroit!
Of course! Thanks for support!
I'll be trying that in my next practice.
Nice. Will allow you to go heavier with better control
I will definitely give it a go on tomorrow's training session. cheers
Let me know
@@kettlebellmusclegain oh I will for sure, I think my coach ( Strongfirst certified ) has mentioned it too.
Dude, always the little things. Love this.
Thanks
Very useful tip.
Yes it is. Enjoy
Now invaluable information . We amateurs have a lot to learn coach.
Happy to help
I think i've been doing this without realizing. definitely feels more like a fast deadlift to me.
Hi Joe, and thanks for this KB Swing added tip / tutorial!
1 comment / question: I’ve been doing a variation of my own to the same exercise by activating a bit more the calves, raising my heels right after elevating my arms-KB from the crouch.
I’ve tried both exercise variations and I don’t feel like sacrificing the core movement’s muscles activation neither the form itself, though, definitely feeling the calves working more all in one integrated exercise.
Is this a NOT to do movement or can we be talking here of and added value muscle activation-work 🆚 an intrinsic activation of the calfs as of a more support - stabilization muscle(s) involved within the KB Swings? Thanks a ton!!! ✊
Great advice! You think possibile basing one complete training on kettlebell swing?
yeah man i cant stand it
Great vid. Is this an isometric exercise when you are pulling the handles apart since they won’t break?
That part of it can be.
Agree with last comment - great cue
Thanks
I've smoked myself for a while just doing this one thing. I always thought there was more lat involved there, but agree it'll get the mid-lower traps and the rear delt. Of course, I find learning that one thing helps when transitioning to 1H swings with heavier bells. Thinking a 40kg is in my future now that I've achieved Timeless Simple.
Absolutely more lats. Youre right and yes get that 40.
@@kettlebellmusclegain I'm thinking about trying out IronWarrior bells from South Dakota too. Cool to have a company making bells in the USA!!!
yes there are quite a few now!
Very cool, I didn’t know that. I usually do “standing plank” swing like I try to throw the bell forward.
Can do both . this is good to activate the shoulder muscles ans keep tendons / ligaments happy
Despite lockdown you’re still in mob enforcer shape
Haha. Thanks man
Does it work with a T-bar kettkebell? That's what I use for 2 arm swings, Made from 1" pipe with stacked steel plates.
Sure! Chalk up , grip and dont slip
I've been finding lately that a swing isn't worth doing unless it's at least half my body weight. Makes a huge difference and forces me to focus on form and keeping everything tight during the swing.
Beauty of Kb ia rheres so many ways for so many goals. Single arma, double, alternating, staggered stances, moving etc!
Good man very nice very nice very nice very nice very nice love you
How do I apply this principle to one hand swings?
One hand swings are a little different due to the already occuring rotation. Just think of keeping your shoulder in socket when it gets heavy
I get tennis elbow on one of my arms when doing swings, im doing with correct form, any ideas to prevent it?
Not bad form probably just lots of it or too heavy too soon. Massage and rest. Check out ARMAID tool at www.thekettlebelllocker.com/recovery its the best for this.
@@kettlebellmusclegain thanks
Thank you sir for sharing...will kettlebell swings build some muscle in my upper legs..?
In the rear they can. Add squats and somersault squats
@@kettlebellmusclegain thank you...is the goblet squat good?
I do it
Reverse lunges as well
@@kettlebellmusclegain ok cheers ..
Does it matter how heavy your kettlebell is for example I have a 40 lb kettlebell I can do about 20 swings with it but if I up my repetitions intensity time under tension can I still build muscle if I don't take any breaks in between from each kettlebell exercise
At some point you'll need heavier bells. What are you doing with it besides swings.? Check out my Simple start program at WWW.KBMUSCLE.com in the samples tab.
@@kettlebellmusclegain so I mean to tell me higher reps or no rest periods in-between swings squat pressed and other workouts won't put strain on ur muscles?
It will but it will tire you out before building max strength. Use a bit of everything
@@kettlebellmusclegain will it at least help me burn fat and keep the muscle that I have if I do one set after another time under attention
It should
When are we going to see you flexing those gains? 😉
Bout 8 more days I guess
