So he started with $27k, and "consolidated" it to $400/month. He's been going for 4 years, which means he's already paid *almost $20,000*, and he still owes $15k. So, the company has pocketed $7000, or 35% of the amount he's paid. What a scam. 😬

this is great and all, how old are you btw? It still shocks me how so many Americans basically follow's the US gov'ts example, spending more than it takes in on taxes. But really, the USA kinda feels it needs to keep spending on things like military bases around the world, questionable military ventures such as Iraq, Afghanistan, now $10s of billions in military aid to Ukraine, etc etc... This is truly a dying Empire.
I was raised on eating out. It was just the way we did things. I’m in a crazy amount of debt and my parents are in and out of various amounts of debt too. The fact that if you’re in debt you don’t eat out BLEW MY MIND. It wasn’t until I saw Caleb berating people and calling it lazy that I even realized. I mean, we have to eat right?? How can I cut down that spending?? I wanted to learn to cook for fun, but now we cook almost every night and eat leftovers for lunch the next day. It hurts when we eat out and it’s a quarter of our groceries bill for the whole week
Caleb categorized eating out in the entertainment budget in another video. Categorizing it this way could help you continue to see eating out as something that's not groceries, but a form of entertainment that must be budgeted.
Agree completely, great job turning around your mindset! It makes me so mad when I hear people online justifying that eating out is cheaper than grocery shopping, because they're comparing $30 or $40 a day of eating out to $100 a week of groceries. I've budgeted for 5 straight years, my eating out budget is now $300 per month and entertainment is $200. All of our groceries for a family of 3 are $450. We have big fun budgets now because we have paid off debt and saved aggressively for years and are now loosening up. But the cost is easily 5 to 6 times higher to eat a meal out vs cook. Multiplied by 2 or 3 for family members, the cost sky rockets! ☠️
It's amazing how we generally inherit our parent's financial literacy and habits. It takes work to even recognise that there are other ways to do it, let alone find a better way.
@@aongaaong For sure. It's so convenient and feels like such a treat to eat out. But it is sad when you reach that day where your favorite restaurant is no longer a treat and you go kinda numb to it. It somehow tastes and feels better to do it twice a month than to do it every other day.
Honestly shout out to the people that come on as well. This guy handled himself well. It can’t be easy to have someone dig through your finances, let alone on video.
Officially free of my credit card debt, I’ve been religiously watching these videos and they’ve helped me so much. I went from 6k in credit card debt to 0 in 2 months thanks to Caleb
One of the best series on financial literacy I've come across. Not only does he help someone with their Financials, he goes through all of the errors in their money management then works on a plan to fix it and improve going forward giving the person he's auditing and the audience a real world example of how all these complicated financial work and why they matter
It was funny with how often Only Fans comes up in Caleb's audits and people get embarrassed and try to gloss over it. This dude laughed and OWNED his frivolous expense. 😂

Not sure if anyone else has noticed but it seems like the items on amazon have been seriously slipping quality wise. I feel like that alone has made me reduce my amazon spending. Tired of buying something thinking I got a deal just for it to break within a week or not function correctly.

Hey Caleb, if I may; You're going to need to set-up a focus-lock for both your cameras. If it's currently in auto-focus, then you should be able to lock onto a subject before you start recording. Audio is crisp, video quality is crisp except it's struggling when you move your hands around and and it seems to be switching between your mic, hands, and face. Focus-lock should fix this.

The IRS currently charges 7% interest with a late fee of 0.25% per month which they also charge interest on. Back in 2018 when he started the payment plan the interest probably was 3%. But the Fed continues to raise interest rates so it might go up to 8% later in the year. I would pay this IRS bill ASAP. Especially with $100K salary.
that car payment makes me feel sick not to mention the insurance on top of it… and he works from home??? wow. i really feel for this guy and appreciate how honest he is and how he takes accountability
He should be careful with all those business expenses with little income; if you run a loss for too many years, the IRS will consider you a hobby and tax the income without allowing for expenses to reduce the income…
Caleb, your channel is blowing up! Congrats and thank you for what you’re doing! These videos have changed my mindset. I thought I would be in debt for several more years but I should be debt free by the end of the year.
Id even recommend he goes without a car for six months (or until all but the student loans are gone) and pay his roommate or someone else to use their car once and awhile. Then use that extra 800 to 1000 to set up an emergency fund and pay down all but the student loans, then get a 10k car. He'll be out of the stressful debt much sooner.
We need a Financial Audit t-shirt. The main graphic is Caleb with the classic suffering look. (thumb in the corner of one eye and middle finger in the corner of the other eye) Then there are words spread around saying "coffee coffee food food food coffee"
I used to watch this show to feel better about myself - "at least I'm not doing what these guys are doing" meanwhile I have 20k of car debt too! This week I paid off all my credit cards. I am selling all my collectibles to pay the car off, and will be making double the minimum starting next month. I will be debt free by the end of the year and then begin retirement planning. Caleb and team have opened my eyes - I will post again once the car is paid off in full. I love you, Caleb!!!
Don't get me wrong, I love me a good 4Runner and one day hope to own one myself. But 99.99% of people who own one don't need it. It's one of the beefiest SUVs out there, it's basically a truck made for offroading. Dude didn't need it and should sell it ASAP, luckily they hold value stupidly well.
These people never take accountability on credit cards. You didn’t need a financial literacy course to know that you should pay off the things you buy with a credit card. It’s always the parents or someone else’s fault.
You would be surprised the number of teens who think credit cards are free money. You rack up 10k in debt and it only costs you a few hundred a month on minimum payments. There are a LOT of people who don't understand what that costs in the long run. It sounds like common sense, but I literally know people who leased a car with their parents and DIDNT UNDERSTAND that it's basically a rental. Parents advising kids to pay 600+ a month for their car and insurance to lease... It's crazy out there.
Caleb's "WHY!?" is in my head every time I look at eating out. I now always pack a snack if expecting to be gone more than 2 hours. Otherwise I only eat out if I'm (1) freaking starving and (2) stuck in some unfortunate spot with no food like an unexpected traffic accident + traffic that ups my commute home by 2+ hours
I love these episodes that show having more money doesn't mean you necessarily solve your problems or know what to do with it. Keep up the great content!

Both my kids bought their first homes at 24 with 20% down and still have over $10K in their savings accounts. Just takes parents teaching their kids what to do and how to manage money.
I went from about $15,000 in credit card debt to less than $5000 and much of that progress came from watching these videos and applying the lwssons/advice. Still working on getting debt free but it all comes in due time. I will be debt free in about 4 months at the rate I have been paying things down. The best thing, in my experience, to pay it down was just getting a simple budget made and stop eating out. Those are rao simple tbings to help almost anyways.
These videos are so good. Congrats on your channel growing so quickly. 🥳 The only thing that I personally would add is a whiteboard, or a big screen that updates with the numbers as you enter them. A lot of people are visual learners, (I’m one of those people). Your budget crunching helped me figure out a plan to get my budget to a better healthier place. I'm not american, not only am I european, I'm from a post-soviet country, too. And I watch all of these videos as soon as they come out pretty much. And I must say, americans fucking scare me. Where I'm from we have no credit card culture and being in bad debts is not common in any way. And it would often look like wow, people in the US live so lavishly, the young people seem to be just enjoying life to the fullest. But then you listen to all these young people and in a sense they *do* live a lavish lifestyle - going to eat out multiple times a week, ordering food, getting new cars etc. etc. - but in actuality they literally have no money, they're drowning in debt. That's so incredibaly scary to look at.
I’m also from Europe that happens here but in a lot smaller scale than USA , also we didn’t have a credit card culture but banks nowadays are targeting people like crazy even in the buy now pay later sector. in my country I think car loans are the worst ones from my anecdotal evidence.

this is great and all, how old are you btw? It still shocks me how so many Americans basically follow's the US gov'ts example, spending more than it takes in on taxes. But really, the USA kinda feels it needs to keep spending on things like military bases around the world, questionable military ventures such as Iraq, Afghanistan, now $10s of billions in military aid to Ukraine, etc etc... This is truly a dying Empire.

Yeah 5k is not a typical debt amount ha. But eliminate it as quick as possible and resist future borrowing.
@@mollyprior5288 Damn that is so true… I’m trying my best at 35 to not make the mistake of my parents.
Good man
One of the best series on financial literacy I've come across.
And we liked him for it

Not sure if anyone else has noticed but it seems like the items on amazon have been seriously slipping quality wise. I feel like that alone has made me reduce my amazon spending. Tired of buying something thinking I got a deal just for it to break within a week or not function correctly.
I’ve had instances where cosmetics/beauty products I’ve ordered from Amazon are either expired or were stored improperly so it’s not even just regular items - there’s definitely issues with the quality control of what is being sold
It’s also more expensive now.
I canceled my membership. Buying over $25 gets you free shipping on most things anyway so it works out great.

Man I feel bad for this guy. We need financial education in high schools across America.
The government wants us broke. That's why we learn nothing of value.
The banks and government wouldn’t want that! How else would kids take out student loans and maxing out their credit cards?
Don't get me wrong, I love me a good 4Runner and one day hope to own one myself. But 99.99% of people who own one don't need it. It's one of the beefiest SUVs out there, it's basically a truck made for offroading. Dude didn't need it and should sell it ASAP, luckily they hold value stupidly well.
Caleb's gonna make it big. He should be hitting a million subscribers by next year.
Jacob's way of saying "yeah" is so consistent and mellow, that it makes all of Caleb's up and down reactions sound hilarious 🤣

Still working on getting debt free but it all comes in due time. I will be debt free in about 4 months at the rate I have been paying things down. The best thing, in my experience, to pay it down was just getting a simple budget made and stop eating out. Those are rao simple tbings to help almost anyways.
