Rapala X-Raps are my favorite slashbait / jerkbait. A PHENOMENAL lure that was and still is WAAAY ahead of its time and who invented the weight transfer system in a jerkbait… the Rapala X-Rap. And THEY ARE STILL SELLING TODAY IN STORES AND LOOK SO REALISTIC! A Lure that truly was and still is ahead of its time.
The less poundage on your line the deeper your bait will dive. The longer your rod, the more likely you'll slap the water with the tip but you'll get longer casts.

What's wrong with that. It's a 7 to 1 ratio. One turn of the handle 360 degrees = 7 turns of the spool. The spool circumference is about 4" or so. 7 times 4" is 28"

Or early 2000’s. Either way the Rapala X-Raps came out a long time ago and are still relevant and sold still to this day!

No but it certainly helps to allow you to get to deeper water so there’s enough depth for it to not get hung up on grass or hit bottom.
