Ive just switched to claw on my 5th day and honestly this might be the best hand placement video it helped so much with the little tip of putting my index finger between square and x before my hands were hurting now it feels much better thank u
The thing that got me the most when switching to the PS5 controller was my right ring finger. There’s a slight hump on the back side (good for normal grip, adds a natural contour) that creates a lot of pressure on the ring finger. I tried bending and moving it in various ways, but ended up going back to the DS4. Which sucks because I loved how it felt :( Maybe there will be a product to add to some padding there? A man can only hope
Dang I've never noticed have you tried to move your hand up or down the controller for a better fit!? It would suck to have to use a PS4 controller over that
This was extremely helpful in getting my claw grip right, especially the position of the finger. Normally on the PC with my mouse and keyboard, so I'm not as well versed in using a controller. Thanks for the guide.
New to claw. The way I hold the controller cause my hands to slip I have to constantly readjust and o can't reach the "o" or left arrow pad buttons comfortably.
I learned to play claw and adjusted to it in only two or three hours tops… it’s really not that hard once you get used to pressing the buttons at the same time as aiming. My hands are on the larger side so I actually prefer the ps5 controller over the ps4, even tho most people prefer the opposite. I love playing claw it took my game to the next level and without the need for 3rd party controllers which saves a ton of money. Claw grip for life!!!
I’m pretty sure the whole arthritis thing was a marketing ploy. Before scuf came out there was no article or concern playing claw, when scuf first launched the Xbox and ps3 controllers there main marketing ploy (on there super rinky-dink) website was clawing caused arthirites. For me claw doesn’t hurt my hands at all!
Claw definitely hurts your right ring finger for long usage of time in a competitive game like fortnite. I think people with small hands should stick to ps4 controller and people with big hands should move to ps5 controller.
Idk theres some people ik like Lucky Chamu and Sib they are in the COD scene and have hand pain from claw but theres people like Scump that are chillen I think it varies from person to person just think its the incorrect yet optimal way to hold a controller
I tried to play claw same way as PS4 but in the middle I found for me it was more easy to push R2 with anular finger and R1 with middle finger so my hand never moves, the dificulty in early time was how to carry the controller right side, but now is naturally and confortable.
I play fort on ps5 so I have to use the controller but the ps4 controller for me is much nicer for claw also the triggers on ps5 go back a bit so it’s harder to claw sometimes
You must have small hands. My hands are on the larger side and for that reason I find the ps5 controller much more comfortable to claw than the ps4 version
I need to use the dpad plus the left joystick in Dark Souls since often you want to move while switching items. On a Xbox controler I could just use my right thumb on the dpad. It's annoying that the PS5 still has no support for third party controllers. I'll try this, and see how it feels for now
I hate the dualsense, every 3rd party has the same body, can't use DS4. Awesome. The fucking thing causes pain and sores in my hands. There's no comfortable grip, claw or not.
@@kyngrigid4562 i have the right one on and I can press that one with ease but I tried with the left one on as well i still can’t press the left one. But even the right one I can press with my finger is it the way I grip the controller or?
@JaiiGuy okay this might sound weird it's going to be hard to explain on text but I'll do my best. Press down on the stick ( while holding ) wrap your hand around the controller to find what position your hand need to be in to have that stick pressed that will give you a good idea of where your hand needs to sit.
Yeah one thing that seems to work when that happens is to straighten your pointer finger, put your controller in hand get a feel for how far or close that hand and the controller need to be in order to press all buttons easily. 2. Slide the controller closer to your wrist 3. Practice when you move 1 finger other fingers will wanna move it's just a twitch in the muscles over time it'll go away on its own
Are you having issues with the stoutness of the r1 on the ps5 controller? I use r1 as my firing button, but on single fire weapons It's like a miss fire or dead shot. I press it and 1 of 3 it don't fire. Have you found a way around this other then using your ps4 controller?
Might have to swap my triggers n bumpers around tbh. I feel like theres not a seamless transition between them. I normally have the back side of my middle finger lay between them but with this, It’s sat on the hinge of the trigger meaning I’m not getting much of a pull. Any way to set custom mappings in the settings of the PS5? Edit: Just gave it a try and my god it feels way better. Bit awkward to remember if I was to play a game with driving or a racing game but still, it’s far better.
For frame of reference I’m an Xbox guy and have just picked up a PS5 and 0:47 this is how I normally play with my Xbox controller. But with this controller the triggers are different, feels like theres too much of a gap between the bumpers ( L1 & R1 ) and the triggers ( L2 & R2 ) feels like my middle finger sits on the hinge of the trigger meaning theres not much pull / squeeze.
Yes the bumper on xbox is small thick and is helpfully to play claw. I use to play claw in ps4 controller as well but with PS5 the buttons are bigger, better I guess but this shape it could be more dificult to play claw. I found it was more confortable to use the anular finger to press R2 so just the little finger is carrying the right side. After a way is confortable and it now its not a problem but my claw is a bit different using a ps4 or xbox controller than a PS5 controller.
I’m starting claw for the first time after playing with paddles for the last 2 years. I’m struggling with the how to to press the face buttons, do use your tip or the knuckle part of your index finger to hit the buttons?
Ive recently got a ps5 and its so hard enjoy when the controller feels so uncomfortable ive never had a controller give me hand aches and sony forces you to have that shitty shape
Once I got my ps5 I had switch from my regular six finger claw to eight finger. It feels a little strange at first but puts a lot less stress on my hands.
