I saw Jimmy Herring in a small field festival in my small ass hometown of Morgan County, GA and I had no idea who he was. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Shortly after I started attending Panic shows for the first time and saw him and was blown away that that was the same guy. Watching him in front of a few hundred people and then watching him from the nosebleeds. What a humble and extraordinary guitar master. I grew up on Panic but once I saw them live a fire was lit that I knew I would never be able to put out. ✌🏼❤️🤘🏼
My first Jimmy Herring experience was when he was playing with Col Bruce. We ended up in a tiny bar in Lawrence, KS with a very small crowd. Blew my mind!
I saw these guys in Raleigh NC and was tripping balls on shrooms. It was a night I will never forget, it's a night I cannot remember. Make sense? Me neither. But it's one of those moments where a layer of your mind gets peeled back, but the details are hard to recall. I just remember emotions, feelings and vibes. A very surreal night.
I was with a girl friend and hanging with molly. Spread our friends ashes in the rose bushes up by the street. Hot as crap, clothes coming off and Panic crushed it!
Bassist was the first thing that caught me about the band too. New listener here. Been a deadhead and phish phan for a long time. Figured i would give it a shot
Jimmy, man. Such tasteful awesome stuff! A consummate professional. I love how he never has a microphone in front of him- he’s like, don’t even ask me to sing one note.
Couldnt refrain. Wizard Yes! From a player's standpoint and technically speaking there is nobody that can hang with him. Buckethead would be it. This cat told me once "Jimmy is too good you know"... Ultra Modest with the responsibility as well. How high can you go?
And this is why Ive always loved WP and their covers...This and Fairies Wear Boots are my favorite covers. They closed St.Louis with it in 2014...I was still buzzing from Phases of the Moon.
Bang! Just got four tickets to see WIDESPREAD PANIC at the Joint in The Hard Rock Cafe in sunny Las Vegas tomorrow night!!! Tight venue to see such an amazing band. Cheers
A big fan of Jimmy's long before he joined WSP, and having seen them many times starting in the mid-90s, I saw him take the band to a whole 'nother level beginning at Vegoose 2006.
If you don't get how the greatness of the jam is right when the video starts then you don't how bad ass Panic was back in 2013 >Ride Me High on speed lol, really fast
@reality check you must have a better ear for music than the greats. Bob Weir, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, and Col Bruce Hampton must not have the refined tastes that you have.
@reality check Bob Weir has sold more records than you. I saw Wolf Brothers in concert it was not good, but Bobby knows talent. He just cant be lead guitar. That's why he picked Jimmy and Warren.
John Aylesworth idk bout all that but they should have never have made Todd leave the band, Duane- stay in the mf pocket gd. And while I’m commenting dead company should have stolen this wizard in the corner out from underneath John Bells whiskey and ribs belly, for number one choice to fill in for Jerry. 1. Jimmy Herring 2. Derek Trucks 3. John Scofield 4. Warren Haynes 5. John Mayer is on this list merely because the kid was playing the dead before “You’re Body Is a Wonderland” N. Charleston Coliseum can be fun.
Not 71, more like 77-78, the Shakedown era, more funk. '71 was The 11 era, much more intense. But to be honest, the sound more like Max Creek than anything.
@@kylegraham8481 There is no fill in for Jerry. The Grateful Dead haven't played a show since 1995. I'm glad the dead exist for people to discover the music, but feel sorry for those who never had the chance to see Jerry.
legunncat not sure where max creek come from or why u directed ur comment towards me. IMO the dead is done. But if they gonna do the damn thing there’s my list of current players that have already collaborated with or friends with members. U got a better one?
Haha. Yep! The man plays that bass like a lead guitar player, and he’s not too bad either! But really, they all are very good in their own right. But together its a six headed monster laying it all down through incredible layers that are one.
Ride me high is my favorite live .... several times pelam and uno w Houser and George... I don't even go hard like this any more but it's been a special day w my betty sue and showed her a new jam and we coming back to Bobby s root .... geaux tigers Paul Finbaum foot on Florida
I have heard of these guys I recently bought a CD lot had a couple Widespread Panic CDs in there and I like these cats do they still tour? Remind me of a hard rock or harder Rock version of something like the Grateful Dead I imagine Their audience is filled with dead heads am I right on that assumption?
Anyone else quarantined watching panic vids?
Yep
Cough
show the kids what music is!
Checked in
👍🎸

Did grow up under a rock like Patrick starr?
Welcome to the tribe bro
Keep exploring it gets better. the crowds are wonderful. the crowds are like a grateful dead or little feet show, fukin grooving.
Keep coming back brother .they’ll take you there
Hands down jimmy kills it on guitar.. very rhythmic.
My husband grew up with him. He's a great person also

Sounds like a WSMFP show!!!💫💞👽💖💯

@@scottwallen6397 Nice! I bet there's many who have an awesome story or memory about a Wide Spread concert.
Makes sense to me😐
Thats Widespread Fuckin Panic baby!! Good, clean, face melting fun!
Respect to the Almighty Jj Cale
My sentiments exactly!

Just found this band, I keep coming back for the bassist
Panic Fucks dude
You must attend a live show
Yup. That makes all of us.
Bassist was the first thing that caught me about the band too. New listener here. Been a deadhead and phish phan for a long time. Figured i would give it a shot
Meanest man in bass.
And also a very nice and thoughtful guy.
The epitome of a JAM BAND
This is an official “ JAM”
That would be Phish
The relentless keyboard funk backing everything up!
Jimmy, man. Such tasteful awesome stuff! A consummate professional.
I love how he never has a microphone in front of him- he’s like, don’t even ask me to sing one note.
Been a fan of his since the Col. Bruce Hampton days. Jimmy is one of the best on the scene
Jimmy Herring is a wizard!! Definitely underrated
Couldnt refrain. Wizard Yes! From a player's standpoint and technically speaking there is nobody that can hang with him. Buckethead would be it. This cat told me once "Jimmy is too good you know"... Ultra Modest with the responsibility as well. How high can you go?
@@thevillageshaman Jimmy is from my hometown of Fayetteville. (Military brat) He is a freaking legend. His talent goes waaaaayyyyy back.
Funky as Hell and the guitar is pure 🔥

So amazing I love this group keep jamming widespread
Iconic and thrilling times
DO NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS DANG
Jimmy gave himself to the guitar, the lesson is simple, surrender to your passion.
Me tryin
WOW. And you know hardly anything leaves me speechless. Thank you, Jamie xo ❤
This is a hot one. FO SHO. I remember that night well. Nothing like a hometown show.

thank you for rekindling my memories, like stirring the warmth on christmas day.
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
What an odd response to this video, I grew up on Arnold Murray. Don’t listen to him anymore grew out of it but keep preaching the gospel, friend.
Jimmy makes that Pail Reed talk nobody can teach this he puts what he's feeling into his fingers simply amazing what he does
Santana is my favorite for playing great jams that give everybody happy feet. These guys are next for sure. Love their style of jamming.
Just saw Santana last year the crowd did not have happy feet so old that they all say down and he was just slaying on the axe still
great jams....love this band
REST IN PEACE JJ CALE 🙏
sound is outstanding groove is cruisin
Hated them in college but as I got older they began to click in my head
GREAT BAND ! Nice grooves.....
That's rocking boy's!

Nice jam guys, loving the funk 👏👂🔥
This what I have been missing all of you and a few shows 0
Still jamming ❤
7:50-9:05 is just the grooviest thing these ears have heard
Listen to Lost in the K hole by The Chemical brothers. Same bass beat
Funk = Groove it's that simple man.
have you never heard 90's phish or zappa or hendrix?????????
you should listen to more music, that is all
Amazing funk beat! Yeah!
Is it just me or do they always kill it in Charleston??
Seth Stine many years ago, they had such a vibrant connection with the Charleston audience. So much was happening there with music. It was great.
I hadn’t seen a dud there ever
Jimmy guitar sounds like he is trying to communicate with the aliens in Close Encounters.. sweet
He is communicating with aliens🖐🌀🍄💗
Used to see Jimmy with ARU all the time, he is such a tone monster, I used to post up right in front of his cabs. Incredibly loud shows.

Saw the boys my 30th show in bama and jb's britches were hanging! Them boots ❤️
Hang tough Jimmy. We are pulling for you
Cant believe Todd is gone man. King of Swing.
Todd Nance? He was my friend.
Just Listen!!!!!🔥
Some guitar gods go slipping under the radar. But many great guitarists will tell that Jimmy was a huge influence on their playing.
I don’t even play the radio but he intoxicates me.
And Allan Holdsworth influenced Jimmy.
Like JJCale (who wrote this song)
Huge influence on the GOAT himself, Derek Trucks
Moon Shine lol
Bad Ass... They keep on Rockin'!
Mando Navarro Jr. Ju
amazing sounds

Gotta experience at least 1 show in the School's zone!
Wow. Good stuff!
Fucking perfect.....🤦♂️talk about 'let's not rush this' 🙋♂️ best version ever💂♀️💣💂♀️
This band is good; heard some Hatfield and the North, Gentle Giant, Little Feat,Dickie Betts in some of their riffs, made it their own
Chills every time.
Fuck yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

Bass is Killin it
Damn. 10 years ago already
For sure rock n roll should never sound good on video, yet this does. Why do i wish I was at this concert? Cause it fuckin rocks.
Widespread panic rules!!!!
San Diego tomorrow. Ready to lose my mind again
Very 70’s Jeff Beck sounding... I like it.
If you don't get how the greatness of the jam is right when the video starts then you don't how bad ass Panic was back in 2013 >Ride Me High on speed lol, really fast

@reality check i was just curious since Jimmy sucks so bad are you a better guitar player than him?

They remind me of The Grateful Dead in 1971. These guys are about the music.
John Aylesworth

You know it's going to be great music when you hear that little click sound at the beginning. Every time.
Some guy you're not familiar with just yet Absolutely!
So who. First time. I love new music
Two clicks at the end is EVH.
You know it's gonna be a great song when the boys take the stage
Does anybody know what that sound click is? I have been wondering for a while
So so PERFECT 🥰 💞

the clavinet is killer!!

OH YES!!
I usually dislike jam band type bands but I went to a widespread panic show and irlt was really good. That old guy SHREDS on guitar.
"That old guy" is one of the most respected guitar players in the world.
Old guys have had a long time to practice. Jimmy Herring,.. one of the greatest.
I don't think 56 is that old. You must be a "kid".
He's shredded since he was a very young man. He isn't that old now. Course his Gandalf the wizard style doesn't make him look any younger.
Live and learn.
JJ Cale didn’t he originally do this tune?❤
1of my last shows
