Tim, you've found our favourite place! We've stayed here a few times since 2016 (birthday treats) and we love it so much that we got married there in September 2021. We booked the entire Windmill and had a marquee put up in the garden. All our family stayed in the Windmill and loved it too. Every room is different and has it's own charm. Unfortunately, it blew a gale on our wedding day and I had visions of chasing the marquee over the marshes! It was a wonderful day in spite of the weather. We actually married in the breakfast room which was set up beautifully for the wedding ceremony. We really can't fault the place and hope to visit every year for a long time to come. You've really made my day!
That's a beautiful choice for a wedding. We've stayed there before and enjoyed it. There was a stormy night for us too, complete with high tide on the river which rose dramatically. Very atmospheric.
My daughter got married there too. It was great having the whole windmill to yourselves. Owners were lovely too. I think it’s lovely as an intimate wedding venue.
I might be controversial here, but what I love about our English weather are the windy days followed by a beautiful washed clean blue and sparkly day. I also love rain after a hot and sunny spell. I have travelled and nowhere else in the World I've visited has had that wonderful washed clean crisp ozone scent. 😁❤️
I spend a lot of time photographing the Norfolk coast, I love those days when you get showers and then you breaks in the clouds and you get the contrast between the dark skies and the sun shining. Absolutely beautiful. You can say this about the UK we have interesting weather.
Jacqueline, you know there’s a word for that beautiful earthy scent is activated….petrichor. Coined in 1964 by two researchers specialising in mineral chemistry. It’s constructed from Ancient Greek… Petra, meaning rock Ichor, the golden fluid that flows through the gods in Greek mythology
I use earplugs, I live near a busy road, and also busy with loud people during the weekend nights. They work....like a charm. Even my former neighbor who was very loud many many nights. Once I started using the earplugs, he could make as much noise as he wanted, I slept like a baby, couldn't hear it. I put my alarmclock in ny phone at the loudest, and it wakes me up perfectly. Also in hotels I use the earplugs, no one is keeping me awake at night anymore. 😊
It looked lovely. The accommodation was very cosy and homely. The fried breakfast looked delicious 😋 The surrounding area/the views were stunning. However…I think £245 a night is rather steep. The room, although lovely, was rather snug. Noise from the selfish sods upstairs would have annoyed me. Yes, of course you are going to hear people in an old building with wooden floors but banging doors late and early is just plain thoughtless. Would I like to stay here? Yes. Would I pay £245? No.
@@johngalt6708 Oh absolutely. You’re paying for the novelty factor. I totally get it. But it’s still too much 😮 😂 I’ve just paid £279 for a 3 night cottage break. I know it’s not directly comparable, but I’d rather have 3 nights away than just 1.
Got to say that this is probably my favourite of your stays, Tim! What a beautiful place, with that view across the marshes, and being able to be walk through the swishing reeds. And the windmill...always been my dream to live in one. And the room was exactly what I like. Really lovely, thanks for this.
What a great place to stay, and it's good to see an old building being preserved and put to good use. I loved the room, shame you didn't get a better sleep though, and I would stay there if I could afford it. As someone who lives not far from North Wales I am always amazed by how flat Norfolk is, that's a real novelty for me! Talking of North Wales have you thought about staying in Portmeirion Village? I've been there on a day out, but not stayed, but I bet it is a lovely place to stay.
We got married at cley windmill in 2016 and hired the whole windmill for us and our guests! Would absolutely recommend staying or getting married here the food was beautiful to.
So charming! They should have a white noise machine in each room. You can also use white noise apps which definitely help. I live in an apartment with a toddler above me so my white noise machine is essential!
Windmill's are great. You crack me up "It doesn't feel like I'm staying in a Windmill, it feels more like a lighthouse." The balcony (to me) seems much more desirable than an upper room.
You certainly do find some unique places at which to stay. Worth the money for the experience. Lovely location. Very impressed with the fresh milk in the room.
WoW! I have to admit, this is the most awesome property I have seen you do! I absolutely adore everything about this place! I love the beach and the mountains, but the beaches hold a special place in my heart. I would love to live there. The old rustic beams in the ceiling, the whitewash brick, the views, the sitting area amongst the reeds, the walking area, the ocean so near, the lovely canal with little boats...... Oh, there is no negative to this place! I could spend my entire life there and be a very, very happy person :) Fabulous spot Tim! Fantastic! So happy you stopped here! Thank you so much!
Beautiful B&B 😍and the breakfast is far superior to any of the five star hotels I’ve seen you review. Well done to the owners. 👏 Love the channel btw. I own a B&B in the south of France so its really interesting to watch your videos. 👍
Wow what a beautiful place so warming, it would be nice if they provided a couple of folding chairs so on a summers day you could sit on the balcony with a cup of tea or glass of wine.
You’re staying in so many unique (and bucket list) places these days - you’re helping me build my ‘I must go here at some point’ list, and for that, thank you!
I highly recommend West Usk Lighthouse in South Wales. I used to live near by and spent my wedding night there. They have a free to use hot tub up on the roof - it's short flat lighthouse. The rooms were lovely and the area was nice for a stroll. Also, on the lighthouse theme, I got married in Nashpoint Lighthouse, and they have beautiful cottages next door which are absolutely gorgeous too. Yeap, I love lighthouses

The famous Cley Windmill😍It’s kinda a uk dream destination I guess as it looks so idyllic. Have passed by many a time and often stopped to take photos of it. I had also heard it was owned previously by James Blunts Parents:)
That’s a fantastic, quirky hotel. Definitely seems like a romantic retreat. I’d rather spend £245 there than the £219 that you spent at the last hotel with all the flowers! I did wonder if the noise above you at night was because the sails (or sweeps as they call them in Sussex) were turning due to the high winds. There’s a windmill near me converted into a house and when the wind is very strong they let the sails turn (they aren’t connected to anything else) to prevent them getting damaged!
Hi Tim, As I have mentioned before my memories of Cley are from my Birdwatching weekends in the 70’ and 80’s , when with a friend we used to pop into Nancy’s Cafe ( Long gone ) for breakfast and to have our flasks filled for the day listening to a well known birdwatching TV naturalist discuss what birds had been spotted and we also used CB Radio’s, we used to have Breakfast at the Harnser, which has now been re-branded Cooks of Cley, in the village, everyday we used to have fresh crab salads there, we never got to visit Cley Windmill as I think it may have been privately owned back then , but when you say in your video it is a superb scene looking eastwards to the sea to watch the sunrise would not be disappointed , the place looks very well appointed, very clean and probably worth every penny you paid, thank you for sharing this video, it brings back such poignant memories, Cheers Mike
Hi TIm, oh my goodness that windmill looked amazing would jump at the chance of staying there we think your videos are fantastic and really are educational we love Norfolk hoping to spend a few days away in Hemsby on a much needed holiday thank you Tim for making our day we love all your videos 😊
An "unusual" place to stay - an idea for a slight change of direction perhaps? Staying in unusual places. How about a vintage airstream caravan, Portmerion, an old German castle (we live in Germany and did this - fabulous!) a bus, a converted railway carriage or... how about a youth hostel in the UK? We only found your channel about a month ago - love it.
That windmill looks amazing! Would definitely stay here! Would maybe buy a sheet to put over those faces on the fireplace though! They’d probably give me nightmares 😱🤣! Other than that sounds like a fantastic place to stay and so well looked after!
Wow would love to stay there, the room was lovely, definatly have kippers for breakfast. The surrounding area looked beautiful and would love to explore

Great tim, hope your well. another place on my list now to try!
The famous Cley Windmill😍It’s kinda a uk dream destination I guess as it looks so idyllic. Have passed by many a time and often stopped to take photos of it. I had also heard it was owned previously by James Blunts Parents:)
and now been in James blunts bedroom lol
Loved your vblog Tim that was a nice place the windmill I thought it was expensive
Well done again. I don't know how you find these places 👌👌
I love Norfolk loved seeing the windmills when we was on the Norfolk broads
The best in the uk
Wow what a fantastic place to stay & thanks Tim 🤗
Beautiful place! Imagine living there. What an experience. Clearly now you need to stay in a lighthouse!
Right?!
Lovely place, great video Tim.
Thanks 👍
That’s a fantastic, quirky hotel. Definitely seems like a romantic retreat. I’d rather spend £245 there than the £219 that you spent at the last hotel with all the flowers!
I did wonder if the noise above you at night was because the sails (or sweeps as they call them in Sussex) were turning due to the high winds. There’s a windmill near me converted into a house and when the wind is very strong they let the sails turn (they aren’t connected to anything else) to prevent them getting damaged!
Hi Tim, As I have mentioned before my memories of Cley are from my Birdwatching weekends in the 70’ and 80’s , when with a friend we used to pop into Nancy’s Cafe ( Long gone ) for breakfast and to have our flasks filled for the day listening to a well known birdwatching TV naturalist discuss what birds had been spotted and we also used CB Radio’s, we used to have Breakfast at the Harnser, which has now been re-branded Cooks of Cley, in the village, everyday we used to have fresh crab salads there, we never got to visit Cley Windmill as I think it may have been privately owned back then , but when you say in your video it is a superb scene looking eastwards to the sea to watch the sunrise would not be disappointed , the place looks very well appointed, very clean and probably worth every penny you paid, thank you for sharing this video, it brings back such poignant memories, Cheers Mike
thanks for sharing those mike
Hi TIm, oh my goodness that windmill looked amazing would jump at the chance of staying there we think your videos are fantastic and really are educational we love Norfolk hoping to spend a few days away in Hemsby on a much needed holiday thank you Tim for making our day we love all your videos 😊
wow tim that is beautful.i love it. i need to try this. great videos and thank you. x
You are very welcome
An "unusual" place to stay - an idea for a slight change of direction perhaps? Staying in unusual places. How about a vintage airstream caravan, Portmerion, an old German castle (we live in Germany and did this - fabulous!) a bus, a converted railway carriage or... how about a youth hostel in the UK? We only found your channel about a month ago - love it.
Welcome Steve, thanks for watching .. ill think about it
That's a great idea, Tim exploring the offbeat quirky places in the uk that so many of us will never even know about 😀
What a beautiful place! I’d definitely love to stay for a couple of nights and go exploring during the day. So unique! Thanks Tim. xo
How lovely, I would stay there but book really early to have the wheel room. Beautiful views .
