- Releasing grass carp (white triploid Amur) into our bass & catfish pond.
Papa Dan had our lake (pond) built in 2003. In the spring of 2004 we stocked 4 white triploid amurs (grass carp). One died in the winter of 2019 (the one we called humpback) and were not sure if the other 3 are all still alive or not. Either way, it was time to add to the school of weed eaters we have to we bought 6 more amurs with the hope that a few survive the summer and make a dent on our weeds.
The team here at Siman Brothers Outdoors is now producing our 6th season of the webshow #sboLIVE. We have had two grass carp at our pond at our WV hunting camp. They do a great job, had to go through a bunch of permitting to put them in. They are fun to watch, they just constantly swim in circles around the pond.
No permit needed here. And yes, they are like big submarines just cruising around. Always fun to watch.
Man I would have liked to seen this live. That’s a beautiful place. Those trail cam post I saw are great. Good shooting and good footage from the SBO CREW 👍🇺🇸

You guys can get grass carp local. Ish. Fenders fish hatchery on the Holmes/coshocton county line has grass carp. They also sell trout in colder months, only has fall through spring. So you could stock some in pond and do a catch and cook video!!!
We’ll definitely look into it! We were planning on a catch cook clean bluegill video this spring but the weather didn’t cooperate. I don’t think trout would do well in our ponds though as they are pretty warm watered.
@@SimanBrothersOutdoors That’s why you buy them in the fall, stock them, feed and grow them some, then catch and eat them all before it warms up in late spring/ early summer. Just like all the places that have kids trout derby’s do, or all the rainbows the state sticks in lakes every spring. You could even tag one and make a contest out of who can catch it first. Everyone throws $20 in and pot goes to winner. It would be Good content. If you do it, l’m gonna help Tyler win😁

@@SimanBrothersOutdoors fine. They will compete for the same food supply. And if you don’t fish them all out when they die the channels will eat them! Cuyahoga county has been stocking trout in the regular like for people to catch for years and years. It’s a seasonal way for people that don’t normally have a chance to catch trout catch trout. All those lakes have catfish and bass in them also Wallace Lake him and there’s about four or five others I believe
@@jamiedarr4114 well luckily we have our annual trout camp to take the itch off for catching them. I think our next route is going to be feeding the fish we have to increase the size.
