Hmmm...I think some sort of super shaggy mullet would be awesome! It'll let you keep length in the back and it'll fix that those front pieces and you still get bangs, but i think you'd look AMAZING!! Interested to see how it turns out at the salon!

On the off chance you want to do this again, the mistake is that you were overdirecting the hair forward which you used as your guide instead of elevating your guide hair up to achieve layers. Next time take your guide piece in with a vertical section/slice of hair and elevate it up to cut layers. If you pull your guide hair forward from the back, then the hair toward the bottom will always be much longer than the top and front
This! After making your correct cutting point it is possible to change the hair direction do you can see where you cut better, but only if you relieve the tension on that piece of hair so your guide remains the same!
I would also suggest to point cut for texture and not blunt cut it all.

im with you on that one butterfly cut tutorial, it didnt work for me either, ended up with the most messed up and uneven layers possible. cutting hair with one ponytail method worked like a charm, however

Layers are cut at a high elevation. Pull everything up and then cut!! Pulling everything forward creates hard lines and no blends!

One side looking as intended and the other being a choppy mess is so relatable, I tried to do the curtain bang thing twice and it happened both times. I ended up just trimming some pieces until it looked better. Idk how it happens but the struggle is real.
Girl same. My hair was finally long and the other day I just, chopped it all off to a bob. It looks cute and last night I went ahead and just, bleached all of it and today I'll be doing a color.
I think the bangs look great! Perhaps they will grow on you, if not I'm sure it won't be too long till they've grown out more:) and you can get some fun hair clips/ accessories to put them to the side. Maybe butterfly hair clips?? That would look so cute. Or maybe it's the colour in your hair, if you change it a little maybe you will feel better about the haircut. Anyway I really enjoyed this video, you always look amazing regardless:)

The bangs were actually super cute and done well! You just need more thinning, a trim and blend the layers a bit! But its definitelt salvageable! Youll look great ❤❤❤

I feel like the way to go about would be to make everything one length as much as possible because her haircut was wonky to start with and then layer by sectionning the crown off and point cut through the ends to remove the bulk. I'm not à hairdresser tho.

It’s not terrible and definitely still salvageable. The face frame just needs to be cleaned up and the layers blended in, as well as added in the back. Part of what makes this look a little off is that pulling all the hair to the front gives almost no layers in the back, making it look uneven. But this is definitely easy to fix if you see a hairdresser. It’s so hard to cut the back of your own hair. I wouldn’t count this as a loss just yet. It just needs a little cleaning. Also your bangs are a total slay. ❤
It hurts watching someone take random sections of hair, put the sections in random positions, and then cut the sections at random lengths.

My hair was the same length as yours at the start and I'm using Rachel McKeown's tutorials to cut it! I'm not at all experienced but her tutorials are amazing imo, maybe it'll help if you want to cut it in the future ❤

edit: it’s like deja vu! did the same thing cutting a chunk too short, i ended up following a jake thompson diy shag video (didn’t cut off as much as he does) and it helped with thinning it out and giving me more layers. hope you see this and hope it helps!!

omg that happened to me too when i tried to cut my hair by myself and a hairdresser had to fix it (i had to cut it a looot and short hair looks awful on me but it grew up pretty good!!)

A nice tip for people confused about how to match the lenght on bot sides is to use your finger as a guide, using them to measure the amount to cut and then cutting the same measure on the other side.
Example: if you cut 2 fingers of lenght on one side, you should cut 2 fingers on the other.

Got layers n hated it, so growing out another bob. Ugh
I love bangs and always had them but I’m growing them out to do curtain bangs the last couple of years. You just need a shag to blend the layers together.
I always add a few tape in extensions around the front sides of my hair when I'm going through an awkward grow out.
Try it out and see if helps!

I think thinning the ends of soften the cut and possibly a bit in the bangs, then washing and styling it would go a long way!

Also if you point cut layers it helps to blend them as your hair is pretty thick. you can just point cut or thin out the ends to blend into the rest!

I think if you cut your bangs wayyy further, like almost to your ears, that would be soooo pretty & would suit you so well!!
& I feel like you stopped cutting because you got scared of the length you were taking off, but to get layers you HAVE to take away length from the very top layer of your hair, all around!! you’re gonna have to cut long pieces to have defined layer, always escalating from bottom to top. you had the right technique, but as I said you stopped because you got scared
