Rush was by far my most listened to band driving to and from high school...got to see them live twice on the Snakes and Arrows tour the year after high school...saw them in Calgary and then Edmonton shortly after. Phenomenally talented musicians. RIP The Professor.
The studio version is kick-ass. For the intro they recorded Geddy's voice echoing back across tbe lake. The song theme is heavy, drawing an analogy between little tidal pools that develope little ecosystems between tides only to be washed away when the tide returns, and our own civilizations that are destroyed by natural cycles and begin again. Even our planet that is so fragile will surely be inundated Or destroyed by asteroid collision or tbe death of the sun. Apocalypse is a mathematical certainty.
