Thank you everyone for all the kind words and love on the video! I'm thinking of doing a follow up with some spoilers and more specific strategies. If anyone would be interested, go ahead and tell me what you would like to see in episode 2 in the comments!
@@Jonkler410 I've been getting reacquainted recently and I gotta say, the game is quite a bit more humbling than it used to be. I'm not as knowledgeable on the maps simply because I keep dying, and I'm stubborn and play permadeath. 😂. But thank you, I have been considering it!
Small side note for everyone, I left out the infinite storage nonsense on purpose. It's possible that infinite bagging is going to get nerfed in the future, for the sake of longevity, I left it out of this video. But if you wanna know more about that, ask here, or come see me on twitch, I'm probably playing this. Lol.
@@TheRealWorlddd while they kept it a thing, they increased the physical inventory size of the bags immensely so it makes it more difficult to stay organized. My tip is, collect as many large bags as you can, keep one on you, and fill the rest in your vehicle so you have substantial trunk space.
Nice guide! Appreciate avoiding spoilers. Quick note on resource gathering for wood -- rather than the Fireman's Axe, you can use the Hunting Hatchet for faster swings & less stamina drain. Sledge & pickaxe are the only tools I've found to harvest metal & stone, respectively.
You must have been seeing the same tutorials back when you made this. Literally fell asleep watching one with "extra BS" lol. You're a real one for this video, super helpful!
Thanks for this. Loads of "guides" end up being vague lets plays. This really helps out. Already had a few starts and deaths and your video shone some light on some subjects
That means a lot, cuz the effort consisted of dying with my character the first time, scrapping the whole project, and doing it again! XD I hope it helped!
You are the Bob Ross of the Surroundead world! Anyway nice vid, one thing I would add is how to lure the Zeds away without combat. Hit 'O' to whistle, lead them into the woods, then sprint away from them, back to the lootable area and enjoy the serenity.
I was just thinking about that yesterday actually. The no combat strats. You can do the same thing more effectively with a car horn as well. And thank you, I think that's the nicest compliment I've ever received. 😂
@@mayhem_moose Car horn is great however early game noob (me) you do not have a car and/ or might not want to use the fuel. Much cheaper to get some cardio (rule 1, Zombieland) and just whistle. Also I built a great base on the steep hill directly west across the river from the Safe Zone. Walls on 3 sides and a cliff at my back. don't need a roof because rain doesn't matter (yet). Then I went and built basic camps all over - on roof at police station, on a rock that requires a jump, on the base of electrical towers with a few simple walls to keep it safe. In each base I put cook fire and well and sleeping bag, so I am set wherever I go.
Hey thank you so much! It's getting to be slightly outdated with all the new updates, but most of it still stands. Glad to have helped, and glad you're enjoying the game!

Pro tip!!! U want to kill zombies quickly with melee? Follow those steps : 1. Punch em 2. Run to their back fast and punch again ( it will make em get 2x dmg ) By usng this method, zombies will die in 2 hits ( if u use melee with 30+ dmg ) BTW, radioactive zombies have more hp, so by using this method, they will die with 3-4 hits ( melee with 30+ dmg )
This is now true. I don't believe back damage was a thing at the time of upload, but definitely of significant note now days. Especially since the radiated zombies got ramped up a bit on HP as well. I myself haven't played in a while, I'm waiting for another big content release, then I'll probably do an updated video with more tips. If you think of more, please let us know and I'll add them in the next one!

Two questions, there's a section for muzzles in the weapon menu. Can you get silencers? Secondly is there a wiki online that we can use? similiar to this video
Hi Wazza! Yes, there are silencers, breaks, and compensators you can attach. As far as a wiki, not that I'm aware of. But another content creator friend of mine called Reaper Gaming here on UA-cam actually covered a ton of other content that I didn't here. Highly recommend checking out his videos on the game, he's got a whole library you can sift through.
One thing I think you should cover is the undocumented control shortcuts. I only just started playing and no where in the tutorial did they explain about ctrl-click, alt-click, shift-click-drag. Am wondering if there are others I am not aware of.
Not at the moment. And even as a weapon it uses so much stamina. I consider it to be junk. I'll only pick one up if I have room in my "sell later" bag. But a lot of things in the game do have potential for future use, and I believe the crowbar is one of them
I just picked this game up for 5£ on steam sale and I’m having a blast! This video is year old, are there any changes? Is left side of the map still dead?
It's been a hot minute since I've played, but there have been many additions since the video. Some core elements are the same, and the locations noted are still the same, but not all of that side of the map is empty anymore. There's also bandits you need to look out for, as well as some military. Zombies have also been sped up, and combat is a bit more challenging.
It's all click and drag. Move your inventory into theirs to sell, grab some from theirs to buy. Money matters in this zombie game cuz things is expensive. 😂
Good question, however around the time I made this game, there wasn't much you could do with them. I tried many ways of trapping/mass killing zombies, but they were all fairly ineffective. Best I had found early on is looping them around red barrels and shooting the barrel.
I've been seeing a lot that the game gets boring quick is that the case? I love DayZ and have put thousands of hours into it. Will this scratch that itch?
So, admittedly in its current state, you won't find DayZ style longevity. But it is fun, I think it's a great game when you don't want pvp stress but still wanna kill zombies and loot. It can be challenging at times, but overall I'd say it's a way more relaxed experience. That being said, when you've played the game as much as I have, it is possible to hit pretty much all areas in a day. It's a masterpiece for it's price, I'll put it that way. Hope that helps!
Been a while since I played last, but if memory serves, hold X in front of what you want to pick up. I had to find it in the controls in settings when I first played.
