Garden Spiders Attacking Prey Compilation #2

  • The same applies to this video as the other one I posted of the Argiope Aurantias. Pay attention to the different techniques the spiders use for each prey item. Especially the ants! Thanks for watching, share with your friends! This video was minimally edited... Just cropped all of the focused parts and compiled them.
Next compilation will be of the Giant Nephilla spiders (Golden Silk Spiders/ Nephila Clavipes)

I was kinda thinking first that it was kinda sad but second that it seemed almost like a waste of energy to wrap up something that big when the butterfly's actual body seems the same size or smaller than a cricket or some of the other bugs seen in this video. Because they don't get anything from the wings right? Or do they? I don't really know I'm just going off of what I've heard that they wait for their insides to liquefy and then eat that so I was thinking they only really get what's inside like the thorax(I think it's called)/ basically body, and not the head or legs or wings?

In fact i dont think spiders eat ants because the only time i've seen the spiders wrap them up and kill it is when they have babies because an ant can definitely kill a baby spider.

While that is true, there is a catch. Look, "Yes, spiders do eat ants. Ants are a common prey item for many spider species, especially those that build webs to capture their food. Some spiders, such as the ant-mimicking spider, even mimic the appearance and behavior of ants to avoid detection by their prey. However, not all spider species eat ants, as the diet of spiders can vary widely depending on the species and their environment."

Cool video but the first catch was not really a catch rather nature's equivalent of me reaching for the next plate at a running sushi restaurant
