Perhaps a dozen stones still exist. Their locations were used extensively by Japanese scientists in the 1990s to map out the inundation extent of the 1792 Unzen tsunami. The inundation zone that they identified is marked by the yellow line shown in several views in the movie. Indeed yes, that information provides a good check on the model. The simulation seems to do fairly well in this regard. Thanks for the comment.
Your videos are very interesting. I've always wondered… how do you model all those different tsunamis? Also, I was watching Cosmos and saw that the Mediterranean Sea was once a dry lowland desert. A dam of land between Europe and Africa kept water out until it collapsed. This flood turned the whole basin into a sea. Maybe you can do that later :)

Estimates suggest that 5000 people perished because the tsunami bounced back from the opposite side and inundated the settlements at the bottom of Mt Unzen which had escaped the landslide.
Thanks much for posting this. You must have done very much work to get the physics-based computer simulations to run properly. It looks really good.
That disaster was called "Shimabara taihen Higo meiwaku (島原大変肥後迷惑)."
It’s crazy how populated the area is where the landslide happened..another disaster waiting to happen
How many of those dome-ishi stones can still be identifieid?
Each one would represent a very accurate test of your model.

You should do the Chesapeake bay impact tsunami

Very interesting simulation. What software/code did you use for the simulation of tsunami?
Thank you very much for all the valuable information you share through your youtube videos!
It's not if, it's when and where. We are gona have a similar event at some point there are just to many places in the world ready to go.
