Honestly? While you can watch Zero first as it is chronological first in the Fate Stay Night timeline, it's a prequel and to truly appreciate it, you have to understand what Zero leads up to to really appreciate what happened before. I hate say it, but if you truly have no interest in the Visual Novel (no idea how length compares to the Tsukihime remake but three routes is way less than 5), yeah, watch the the Fate Stay Night anime, it's kind of poor compared to literally every other anime adaptation in this series, and story wasn't adapted right, but it's still a decent start down the rabbit hole until we get a proper Artoria route adaptation. Afterward watch Fate Unlimited Blade Works and then the Heaven's Feel movies and with your Tsukihime knowledge, you should have everything you need to enjoy Carnival Phantasm.
Yeah but its written by someone else not nasu. Its basically like Boruto to Naruto where the lore and reactions of the original is ignored and destroyed in its counter part
I think out of the plethora of servants that exist, my favorite will always be Sasaki Kojirou for one sole reason: He's not supposed to be there. He's not even actually Sasaki Kojirou; while there canonically was a Musashi in the Fate universe, there was no Kojirou. He's just a phantom (spirit that isn't supposed to qualify for servant status) thrown in because Caster cheated the summoning system, yet he's able to hold his own against two of the stronger servants in the series (Artoria and EMIYA). Not to mention his "Noble Phantasm" is canonically a variant of second magic (namely, the second of five feats of magecraft in the series that were capable of reaching The Root, which is the source of magic. The Holy Grail War is an attempt to recreate Heaven's Feel, the third magic). He's not a mage or a demon or anyone with any actual magic power. He's just a guy who decided one day that he would learn to cut a swallow down while it was in the air, and after trying enough, the universe just kinda gave in and granted him the ability to distort space. Hell, the Fate/Grand Order team didn't even have any ideas for what to do with him in the game, but he managed to gain a huge amount of popularity through being a solid 1-star that was effective against the majority of chapter 1's enemies. Anyway yeah that's my manifesto on why The REGEND is the GOAT.
You should finish Zero before watching carnicla phantasm. Apart from being a really good series, there is at least one scene in cp that might well move you to tears of happiness if you've seen both Zero and at least one Fate/Stay Night route, even if it's just a blink and you miss it moment.
Honestly you don't need to watch the 10 or so Fate spinoffs to understand Carnival Phantasm. Carnival Phantasm came out before the series blew up in popularity, this was back when all you had was Tsukihime, Melty Blood, Garden of Sinners and of course the first two Fate Visual Novels; Hollow Ataraxia and Stay Night. And yes, you have to read Hollow Ataraxia which doesn't have any sort of current adaptation and play the Melty Blood fighting games which also does not have an anime. "Fate seems like a battle royale" Ehh, at the surface maybe. The main theme of Fate is heroism, and most of the time deconstructs heroism in multiple ways through the protagonists. If you want a better understanding, the core of what Fate is, it would be best to start with the first two visual novels which are the first two entries of Fate.
My friend tried to get me into Fate so many times and always preaches about its brilliance like its the second coming of Christ but he is in a Mech Suit. All the while he rants on and on about how he hates Nasu and wishes bad things would happen to him.
So you forgot about, fate/type redline, it's about how fucked up Japan was during wwII and shows the side the army was really fighting for with a time travel subplot, featuring Oda Nobunaga from Pokemon conquest. Also my personal favorite fate series, it starts with a movie called oath under snow, and goes into an amazing sequel called fate/kalied pris-
Because of one character i started fate and now it has lead me to playing the vn, games, and reading LN or manga not only of fate but also other type moon series and that character is Rin😭💀
Fate/Zero is totally worth it! I know it starts off slow but once you get to Episode 5 it starts hauling ass. I'm so offended you dissed my favourite anime ever! XDD Also yes Carnival Phantasm is absolutely amazing and Kaleid is definitely worth a try, its not everyone's thing, but its a bit of fun to watch and somewhat investing, it only really gets good at Season 3 tho
You mean season 4, right? Cuz like there's the first one, 2wei, 2wei herz and 3wei and it's bassicaly quite meh and even kinda bad before it suddenly gets really really good at 3wei. Still the best thing to come out of the whole thing was the oath under snow movie
@@fkez0510 oh, I didn't know. Thought it was 2 different seasons lmao. Also btw that 2 kaleidostcks fusing at the end of 2wei herz was such an out of nowhere deus ex machina.
I think CP does have a few appearances of characters and stuff from Zero iirc. For me, getting into fate started with dropping the 2006 fate stay night anime like 2 eps in then watching Carnival Phantasm, THEN watching every other Type moon franchise to understand what i just watched even though i still found it funny as hell.
you really should have started with fate stay night. zero ruins everything that comes after it either by spoilers , or by changing the personalities of the characters involved , making you have different expectations just keep in mind that fate stay night has 3 major routes : saber's , rin's and sakura's. Rin is not the main heroine in fsn. She is in UBW
It is always amusing to see people complain about Fate Stay Night spoiling stuff, yet they want people to watch Zero first which spoils Saber's identity in the first episode.
@@camil3545 I think it's just because starting with Ubw wouldn't really work, and starting with the 2006 adaptation is asking alot considering how shit it is. Aside from the animation being kinda lackluster, there's alot of exposition dumped on you really quickly, and that alongside the crappy animation of characters standing still and plain backgrounds, it becomes a bit of a slog to get through. Zero spoils alot sure, but it doesn't go so far as to ruin the story. I think discovering them first in fsn is alot more fun, but having that knowledge already doesn't ruin the story, just those little moments and arguably doesn't take away from the big picture of what fsn is all about. It legit only spoils some background information which you find out early enough in each route anyway. Of course reading the VN is always gonna be the best starting point, cos then you can laugh at the 2006 animation and enjoy how ufotable enhances or fails in presenting UBW and HF
@@alfredhigglestein2828 people keep repeating that the 2006 deen version is shit....but most of the people that say that probably never watched it. The animation is worse , obviously.....but the story is pretty much the fate route , with like 2-3 episodes that steal from ubw/hf. It;s still like....90% the fate route. And it has by far the best osts in the series
@@mihai000000 the animation itself isn't the problem, it's the whole anime itself, the pacing is insane for those first few episodes, unless you've read the VN it's near impossible to keep up with and understand everything that's going on. The directing and cinematography is boring, making exposition dumps, which is alot early on in fate, feel even more boring. Ufotable still suffers from being unable to give enough time for Shirou monologues, but we still get 3 40 mins episodes, and it's visuals create and add to the themes explored in the story. Fsn 2006 is just a lazy adaptation. It covers the story, but that's about the only thing it does
You just dodged yourself a bullet with putting Fate zero on-hold, many anime onlies with argue to start with that one, but the whole point of the zero series is to be watched after stay night cause it's a prequel, also great job in knowing the best wifu first-hand 😂.
If a person is going to read the visual novel then they definitely should do that and see zero after reading it but if someone's going for anime only then it's way better to start with zero than the terrible Deen night adaptation. Or they could start with the ubw anime, that works too.
As for Battle Royals, Kaleid and Grander Order don't have any. Kaleid is a Magical Spin Off featuring Illya while Grand Order is a Mobile Game that plays like 20 Years in the Future and Earth was fucked and needs to be fixed. The only ones relevent to CP are Fate Stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works and Heavens Feel.
You should finish fate/zero, maybe the start It's a bit slow, but after that it gets incredibly good, with Amazing fights, characters explainations and major plot developing
Honestly, I used to be super terrible about starting order, but these days I'm of the opinion of "meh, just start wherever." As long as you've completed, like, ANY of the Grail-War based anime (the 2006 Deen, the 2014-2015 UBW anime, the 2012-2013 Zero anime, the HF movies, or the 2017 Apocrypha anime), most people get the gist. Yeah, there's like, optimal watch order or whatever, and I definitely have my personal grievances with one of the anime in particular, but in the end, they're all fine.
The main fates I enjoyed in this order was zero, ubw, heavens feel, apocrypha, grand order animes, case files of el malloi, kaleid prisima illya then carnival phantasm. I started watching because epic fights and found out it started as a doujin
Dude's gonna have a field day when he finds out about Fate/Grand Carnival, also the Prisma Illya seasons end in german numbers, so 2wei is prounounced zwhy
Saber is best but Rin Tohsaka is second. Honestly Rin's characters is very involved and developed in every route of the visual novel (she's essentially a second protagonist) so it's sad that they... cutesified her in the anime (or that's just how I see it). But they definitely emphasized her... proportions in the anime and that wasn't a bad change since Rin's thighs save lives after all.
The best way to start is the Visual Novel, but most people are lazy and don't like to read or don't have the time. Everything is cannon since it's a multiverse even if contained. As long as you don't start with Zero, since it ruins the characterization of one of the best characters in the franchise and I will curse Urubotchi forever, thankfully it's not cannon to the OG Visual Novel.
Okay I’m a newer fate fan as well and I would say watching fate/zero first is best way then you can watch stay/night if you’d like but I personally went to unlimited bladeworks and lastly finished with the 3 movies called Heavens Feel 1,2, and 3.
Watch Fate/Zero and either Stay Night or UBW and you can watch anything else. They aren't directly interconnected outside of Grand Order which just has all the servants. Thats the simple way I can put it.

@@gilgameshlfx7006 If you want to get technical, they wind up working together in UBW and it's heavily implied they're together in the end. @@TsukabuNosoratori2 UBW is about Shirou. He's the one that get development over here, not Rin. Heck, Rin did not have any until the very end of Heaven's Feel.

Anyway yeah that's my manifesto on why The REGEND is the GOAT.
a dragon is just an oversized sparrow after all.
Thats hell your walking into
You can tell if someone has read the VN or not if they say shirou is their favourite character
"Fate seems like a battle royale"
Ehh, at the surface maybe. The main theme of Fate is heroism, and most of the time deconstructs heroism in multiple ways through the protagonists. If you want a better understanding, the core of what Fate is, it would be best to start with the first two visual novels which are the first two entries of Fate.
I've been a massive fate fan for over 4 years and i still dont know how to answer someone when they ask where to start lmao
My friend tried to get me into Fate so many times and always preaches about its brilliance like its the second coming of Christ but he is in a Mech Suit.
All the while he rants on and on about how he hates Nasu and wishes bad things would happen to him.
Wait why?-
Why Nasu?-
@@Emiya491 Hates him for mistreating Mordred apparently.
Arturia (saber) Does have a child, and the worst of it is that it is cannon.
Youll find out when you watch fate aprocraphy (where astolfo appears)
He said CP so much I forgot he was abbreviating Carnival Phantasm, I damn near had the FBI on speed dial
So you forgot about, fate/type redline, it's about how fucked up Japan was during wwII and shows the side the army was really fighting for with a time travel subplot, featuring Oda Nobunaga from Pokemon conquest. Also my personal favorite fate series, it starts with a movie called oath under snow, and goes into an amazing sequel called fate/kalied pris-
for some reason this got recommended to me and I really liked your content 🥑
proper introduction to fate:
play the vn
What he said
This. But Zerotard gonna cry and accuse anyone that suggest this as "gatekeeping".
3:47
"That's not what you're meant to focus on"
Apocrypha: *well actually*
Your editting is awesome. This channel is so underrated and really did a great job at holding my short attention span.
Because of one character i started fate and now it has lead me to playing the vn, games, and reading LN or manga not only of fate but also other type moon series and that character is Rin😭💀
Man is so underrated
Fate/Zero is totally worth it! I know it starts off slow but once you get to Episode 5 it starts hauling ass. I'm so offended you dissed my favourite anime ever! XDD
Also yes Carnival Phantasm is absolutely amazing and Kaleid is definitely worth a try, its not everyone's thing, but its a bit of fun to watch and somewhat investing, it only really gets good at Season 3 tho
You mean season 4, right?
Cuz like there's the first one, 2wei, 2wei herz and 3wei and it's bassicaly quite meh and even kinda bad before it suddenly gets really really good at 3wei. Still the best thing to come out of the whole thing was the oath under snow movie
@@Amelia_Whitevoid No i mean Season 3
2wei and 2wei herz are the same season just 2 parts, the clue is in the name
@@fkez0510 oh, I didn't know. Thought it was 2 different seasons lmao. Also btw that 2 kaleidostcks fusing at the end of 2wei herz was such an out of nowhere deus ex machina.
I think CP does have a few appearances of characters and stuff from Zero iirc. For me, getting into fate started with dropping the 2006 fate stay night anime like 2 eps in then watching Carnival Phantasm, THEN watching every other Type moon franchise to understand what i just watched even though i still found it funny as hell.
Yeah man i get it.I also like Rin.
its been 6 months I still am unable to watch the carnival phantasm ova it never ends
its funny cause i got into the entire tsukihime lore just so i could watch carnival phantasm AFTER a year of sifting through fate lore.
you really should have started with fate stay night.
zero ruins everything that comes after it either by spoilers , or by changing the personalities of the characters involved , making you have different expectations
just keep in mind that fate stay night has 3 major routes : saber's , rin's and sakura's. Rin is not the main heroine in fsn. She is in UBW
But everyone knows Rin's route is really just the shirou route 😤
It covers the story, but that's about the only thing it does
You start to watch fate?
"That is hell you're walking into"
"That's hell you're walking into."
That man hasn't even started watching yet and already knows who's best girl. Absolute legend.
If you'r tired just read the doujin
1:57 but you forgot fate/kaleid prism illya 2 wei (without hertz) and they are the seasons name
Can’t wait till this dude gets into grand order
You just dodged yourself a bullet with putting Fate zero on-hold, many anime onlies with argue to start with that one, but the whole point of the zero series is to be watched after stay night cause it's a prequel, also great job in knowing the best wifu first-hand 😂.
If a person is going to read the visual novel then they definitely should do that and see zero after reading it but if someone's going for anime only then it's way better to start with zero than the terrible Deen night adaptation.
Or they could start with the ubw anime, that works too.
listen bro, I'mma be honest as someone who got into it via the mobile game.
Don't do it LOL.
In the words of giguk "don't worry about it"
"And Rin Tohsaka is best girl"
Me: This guy gets it
Starting to consume all that Fate has to offer, just because you want to understand Carnival Phantasm. Exactly me
Jahby, that is hell you you're walking into.
This… pleases me greatly,
by the way, if anything confuses you,
just ask and I’ll clear it up for you,
unless it’s a spoiler
Your literal profile and name is a spoiler my guy
wait... there is internet in chaldea?
Also when you made this there's Fate Grand Carnival which is like carnival Phantasm but with Fate Grand order characters
Hey, that's Hell you're walking into.
Am I the only guy who thinks saber and violet is the same person because I'm dumb
You should finish fate/zero, maybe the start It's a bit slow, but after that it gets incredibly good, with Amazing fights, characters explainations and major plot developing
That’s hell your walking into
Anyone gonna tell him that Carnival Phantasm is somehow canon
It is canon.
I watched Fate/Zero again yesterday. Cried. Went to see Carnival Phantasm.
He then went on to discover Fate/Grand Carnival
Well, that's hell you've walked into
"Did she have kids or how did that work"
That question has an answer and you don't want to know it
That's hell you're walking into.
The main fates I enjoyed in this order was zero, ubw, heavens feel, apocrypha, grand order animes, case files of el malloi, kaleid prisima illya then carnival phantasm. I started watching because epic fights and found out it started as a doujin
No matter where you start, remember: The doujins can be canon if you think hard enough about it.
3:45 OK! So do you wanna know this or not because it is explained how our faw tomboy Mordy was born.
the quest to understand carnival phantasm jokes
Bro really said I’m gonna fully understand fate & immediately skipped the the prologue that has zero in the name , for a slice of life anime
For your information somehow Carnival Phantasm is also canon
Today's menu for the Emiya family is the only canon one
Wait till he finds about ereshgikall and Ishtar anyways for the newest Fate OVA he needs to play FGO
Dude's gonna have a field day when he finds out about Fate/Grand Carnival, also the Prisma Illya seasons end in german numbers, so 2wei is prounounced zwhy
Thats hell you're walking into
Saber is best but Rin Tohsaka is second.
F/Z is canon but not in the same timelines as the original 45 timelines of Fate/Stay Night.
Hey, that's hell you're walking into.
The real question is which route of Fate stay night did you pick? (Cause the first one is definitely not the Rin route)
You can't pick your route in FSN unless its Realta Nua.
Okay I’m a newer fate fan as well and I would say watching fate/zero first is best way then you can watch stay/night if you’d like but I personally went to unlimited bladeworks and lastly finished with the 3 movies called Heavens Feel 1,2, and 3.
"Your Z looks like an X!"
My brain: so 'Fate x Ero'?
....
Brain has left the lobby.
Don't worry, Carnival Phantasm is actually worth it 👌
Watch Fate/Zero and either Stay Night or UBW and you can watch anything else. They aren't directly interconnected outside of Grand Order which just has all the servants. Thats the simple way I can put it.
Yeah, dont worry, you only become Nasu cultist when you read the VN's (or all Nasuverse source material) and actually like his writing style and his themes first. And reading the Source will be almost always the answer lol.
Also FSN VN has Ultimate Edition by fans that you can toggle for your tastes if you will be interested.
2:32 from what I heard the writers stories and novels typically have to do with cp whether coincidental or not it’s still funny
Yeah coz lot of those anime fate series addition was from fate game(fate grand order game) monthly events where those are another story character build-up😅😅😅,and fate grand order was my most understandable story for me😏
So in fate lore Saber/ Artoria/ King Arthur was temporarily futasized in order to conceive her heir Mordred. Who in fate was also a woman
Nice vid bro, new subscriber
Gotta be honest.
Once you get into it, fate is NOT complicated, matter of fact, there's so much more about the lore we could explore, we could legit have 1000 animes of fate.
"Its like a Fortnite battle royale match that happen after so and so years"
That one of the most disrepectful and insulting desription about the Holy Grail War i ever heard literally
On an serious notes
Well, you only delve into anime side of Fate my friend. Wait till you look into the full collection of what Type-Moon and Nasuverse have to offer. Especially its wonderful 'lore' =] (both metaphor and literall on different meaning)
Good luck with that 😆 Fate Grand Order is a rabbit hole ception. And the games. FGO is a cluster of everything Fate related. And don’t worry, Rin is best girl and gets her route in UBW.
UBW is not Rin's.
It's Shirou's.
@@gilgameshlfx7006 If you want to get technical, they wind up working together in UBW and it's heavily implied they're together in the end. Yeah Shirou has his moments to shine with his NP, but so does Rin with her magecraft, Saber with her NP, etc. Even Lancer Cu has a couple boss moments, I'm just trying not to get spoilery in case Jahby reads this.
@@TsukabuNosoratori2 UBW is about Shirou. He's the one that get development over here, not Rin. Heck, Rin did not have any until the very end of Heaven's Feel.
@@gilgameshlfx7006 We can agree to disagree, but it's still a good show in my opinion, Fate Stay Night- UBW.
@@TsukabuNosoratori2 Show? I was talking about the VN.
Be sure to watch all of gigguk’s videos about fate lol
Also I’m gonna be real with ya Fate/Stay the Deen adaptation is slow like slow but decent for what it was. Also the Deen adaptation is Saber’s Route and while Rin is in it, she’s not the main focus, just watch UBW by Unlimited Budget Works Ufotable that’s where the good stuff is for Rin. Also as a fellow Rin enthusiast might I suggest Fate Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia for more Rin action after you watch the OG Fate/Stay and after you watch the First Order ova so that way you can get the gist of what’s going on in Babylonia
Hey bruh u finna be big one day, imma def be binging ur vids🤙
i wish you luck youngling
What about grand carnival phantasm?
3:50 He gets so much better over time.
