I had the SYM JET-X 125cc for 1 year and here are my thoughts: PROS: 1. The best overall design of this small category 2. The most powerful engine of this category 3. Very well built 4. Super low consumption, less that 3lt/100km 5. Very easy to handle in traffic. Wil squeeze everywhere 6. It will get you safely and easily up to 80km/hr, but after that it will start struggling, which is normal for a small scooter. Specially if you got a passenger on board 7. The storage space is acceptable but you will need additional space for sure 8. The suspensions are average 9. Instruments and buttons are simple and easy to use CONS: 1. A mediocre braking system. Won't save you from anything. Try to brake early. 2. You cannot see anything in the mirrors. Very small and poorly positioned 3. The key is not exactly keyless. You have to press it every time to turn on the motorcycle. You simply don;t have to plug it in. Thats all OVERALL: Probably the best 125cc out there. I clearly recommend it !
I bought one as my first bike last October. In Greece, where I live, they offered it with front and rear abs, but not anymore (since 2022). It is a very beautiful and good quality scooter. Thank you for the review Mark.
Hi, I would like to ask a question, if you don't mind: Is the Sym Joyride 300 16 (with 16 inches front wheel) available in Greece? I saw it on dealers websites, but apart from Kokkina Fegaria YT channel, nobody has made a review yet. From my perspective, this scooter is the true jack of all trades as Mark likes to say. In Romania, where I live, the Sym Romania hasn't it, and when asked they answered sometime in the future. Weird thing there is one used, available on OLX market and the seller claims it is bought from the dealer that says it doesn't have it. So, it crossed my mind I could buy it from Greece. It would be an interesting thing to have a road trip, from Greece, to Romania, on scooter.
@@1zanglang Yes the joyride 300 is available in Greece since summer I guess. And it is fairly good priced for a 300, just 4.800€. If you choose it, I hope you will enjoy it!!! If you want to ask anything else I ‘ll be happy to help.
@@sotosanagno8331 Thanks for the quick answer. The used Joyride 300, I told you about is priced at 5000 euros. I would talk again with the dealer, and see what they say.
I think in the coming month and with the cost of fuel, they'll sell a lot of these. Sym and Kymco make excellent scooters, and always a good bit cheaper than the Japanese ones. Thanks Mark, good review as always.
I have to smile every time you say jet x as it reminds me of the little solid fuel jet engine which used to power my miniature jet cars and model aircraft. Anyone else remember these ?
I own a new CRF 300 rally and a 2018 fireblade and still use my old sym jet 125 to commute if the weather is horrible it’s great fun so light and easy to ride 👍
Very impressive and comprehensive review! Thinking seriously about changing my Honda 300i for one of these. The Honda PCX looks a bit dated now in my opinion, so this one fits the bill. Thank you for this review, you’ve sold it to me…..!!!
My neighbour in Spain had a 15yr old Sym scooter he commutes on everyday. I was curious about reliability. Had done 90000km and nothing wrong other than servicing. Must say think this is v good looking and a great price imo
Thanks for an excellent review. Had a wee Sym 50cc a few years ago, fantastic build quality and reliability. Been riding a Honda Zoomer for the last 3 years but thinking of moving back up to a 125 again and this is certainly on the short list.
@Yohoobohoo Hi, that’s a good question and it was a close run thing. Basically it was the styling of the Aprilia that just won out. To be honest I wasn’t really expecting to get one as they seemed quite hard to come by at the moment due to supply issues and rather than waiting months I decided that the Sym would be my fall back choice. Sym bikes are great quality and look good too. Luckily the only Aprilia dealer in central Scotland had taken delivery of two SR GT’s, they’d sold one but the other was sitting in the showroom. When I found this out I took an afternoon off work, jumped on the train and put my deposit down then and there. So that’s basically the answer, the styling of the Aprilia just won out over the Sym Jet X which looked similar to the PCX. All the best 👍
@Yohoobohoo 😄 the bike came with half a tank of fuel and I’m nowhere near the end of that yet. I’ll have to wait until I fill up and then monitor it. My daily commute is very short and I’ve just not had the time yet thanks to work and Covid to give the bike a proper run out.
Thinking about buying one of these but compared to other scooters it's underseat storage is small.Good review Mark you always cover the things we need to know.
I don't understand why they didn't put the fuel tank to the frame tunnel at driver's feet like other manufacturers. The tank under the seat takes valuable space for the trunk and increases the center of gravity. That's really sad. Otherwise I would seriously think about buying that scooter.
The current Honda PCX 125 has larger tires - 110 front and 130 rear, and you have a higher front fairing has an optional which Sym doesn't as factory standard. It still remains to be seen which one is more reliable, I had a PCX for several years with zero problems, however the PCX is assembled in Thailand and some scooters may arrive with assembling problems.
Thank You so much for this review, excellent camera work with high resolution ... getting close to all materials....which helps me to go for the grey colour... looks much more alive than in the studio pictures.... the best review I have seen because you have a personal approach . . . thanks

Excellent review as usual Mark. I’m a big fan of scooters and they make a lot of economical sense with today’s high fuel prices. Cheap road tax and low insurance to boot as well. I use a Lexmoto scooter for my commute to work and running any errands especially if the weather is not nice saving getting my motorcycle out and then cleaning it. Are you going to test either the Royal Alloy or Lambretta scooters? I’m kinda interested in the retro design. None of my local dealers run 125cc demonstrator scooters or motorcycles so you have to buy blind.

Hi ..I have a pcx myself. Handling is just as good if anything it's a smoother ride ...it's the same power so top speed and consumption is about the same and the lights are very good ...I'd say it's just as good as my pcx but quite a bit cheaper so I would highly recommend it Best wishes mark
My N max was stolen last Tuesday, and I just payed for the black jet x today I hope I've made the right choice and hope it lasts like my nmax .....Great review matey 👍
I would like one of these but I have a sym fiddle 2 (yes still going smoothly) but would like Sym Global to bring over the liquid cooled version to the UK. Lighter and more fuel efficient. I have a friend who has one of these Jet X's and he complains of the step over in the middle of the bike. If Sym would have added a small "storage" compartment in the middle of the bike (only contains the battery) then it could be even more practical. Maybe for a future upgrade. Like the idea of better fuel efficiency though and the price point is very tempting.
Hope you chose the honda. It's got too many issues the jet x . I have the same bike as this video and it's had a lot of electrical issues. Cost me a fortune in repairs and parts . My mechanic said I shouldn't have got it for the price I paid and gone with the pcx . Had to rip out the side stand sensor plus the under seat one , replace the rectifier. Hello, thank you very much for the excellent review! I bought such a scooter and right now I started to give it a run-in of the engine, I drive slowly around 50 km/h and I feel that the scooter rises and falls a little as if there are bumps in the road, why is there such a feeling? Why is the ride not smooth?
Hi this is normal for small scooters...they have small wheels and basic suspension so you will feel the bumps in the roads a bit it's quite normal Big motorcycles are much smoother Best wishes mark
Hi Stephen....it's not a major issue for me ...you have to lift the seat or lift a flap if the tank was between your legs like on a pcx You may get a bigger area up front but then you loose space up front 50/50 really...all good either way Cheers mark
Hi Mark nice review as usual, Very reasonably priced scooter, looks good quality, definitely a space in the market for it. I had a green Jetex car - think it was Jaguar D Type.- showing my age Mark All the best
Looking to buy max 125cc scooter (because of legislation) that will be used 90% in heavy traffic and maybe 10% extra urban (WITH PASSENGER). I am 184cm 100kg, what should I pick between jet x 125cc and zontes m125cc in your opinion ?
I own a Kawasaki Z900 and looking at this one for dialy short run around town trips. I feel it's a shame to bother a big power motorcycle for such short rides. Nevertheless, I had no idea these SYMs are that good. They are on sale on, really good price, I think I just might get one after your review. P.S. I bought Z900 after your review as well :D :D
Good review of a good bike, thanks Mark. What's your opinion of dropping ABS, after years of saying its the finest braking system now kids are let loose on CBS which surely is downright dangerous?
Yes abs is very good but we did fine without it for years ...cbs is ok as long as you use the rear brake which puts on the front aswell best wishes mark
I wonder, what's under the fairing in between the rider feet. As long as the fuel tank is under seat, and not in frunt, under that plastic fairing, ruining the storage space under seat, the surface in front of the seat should have been flat. From this perspective, the Jet14 125cc is superior to this.
I also do, especially in the city. It is a habit that it’s worth having. It can save you when you are in danger mode and you have no time to react. Everybody should be doing it, and after some rides you get used to it
@@sotosanagno8331 The ex instructor in me prompted the question. With your index finger extended over the brake lever are you able to fully close the throttle before squeezing the lever. There are 3 braking systems on a bike, in most situations the first brake applied should be the closing of the throttle which will start the weight transfer to the front, followed by the front brake slightly before the rear. I had a pupil renewing his CBT on an older Vespa 2 stroke who had developed the habit of riding with his index finger over the clutch lever in case of engine seizure. I asked him, on my signal to show me what he would do, when I gave the signal he immediately whipped the remaining 3 fingers of his left hand over the clutch before pulling it. I then asked him what was the advantage from what he was doing as opposed to having 4 fingers around the grip for full control. As for the right hand situation I just see the potential for less ease in using the 1st brake (throttle) before using the 2nd and 3rd brakes.
@@1954Antony I cannot talk about a clutch situation because I only have owned scooters. But to be more precise I ride with my index and middle fingers on the front brake and with the other fingers and palm, I can easily handle the throttle. So I close the throttle and then pull the front brake with these two fingers. I can’t say this will work for everybody, by it works for me. Best regards S.A.
In most of SEA nations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia etc.. The Sym JetX came with 150cc engine. It seems a pity it was only 125cc in GB and Europe. And it only cost around rm9000. 00 in malaysia or around 1700. 00 pound.
thank you, excellent review. this is kinda of strange that the scooter weight is 111 kg but when looking in the manufacturer website, it says 140 Kg. That's one hell of a difference for such a small scooter...any idea why ? (all the rest of the technical specifications are identical by the way)
Most of the sites I looked at say 111 kg but that's dry weight.....it probably is 140 ish kg wet with full tank of fuel ....I couldn't seem to find the weight of it on the UK sym Moto GB sites I had to look at other sources which all said 111 kg ...either way it's a brilliant light scooter Cheers mark
Its funny We have this in iran but the 170cc version and the funny thing is that The 125 cc version has 4 valves with water cooled radiators, but the 170 cc version has 2 valves and air cooling and it is not key less.. I wonder why the 125 version is not imported to our country.
Thanks Daniel ...I don't really choose I can only do what's available....I wish I could do WAY more but it's hard getting constant demos but I do ok :)
I do a lot of travelling and long distance and a lot of country lanes iv got the sym jet 14 and its struggling after 5000 miles would this model be better?
Maybe a tiny bit but you're only talking about a few mph difference Personally I wouldn't change ...a second hand Forza 125 would be much faster Best wishes mark
This is definitely China’s answer to the Honda PCX because especially side on it looks the same, although this SYM has a better looking front than the PCX
They are a better bike than the PCX. The latter is one of those bikes that trades on the Honda name. Not to say the PCX is bad, it is a Honda after all.

Please do a proper review on these scooters. Put a passenger on the back and take it up the mountains. Put some weight and see how the engines perform. Any new bikes will run well on the flats. That's your challenge from now on.
lovely looking scooter for sure. i had the sym jet 14 125cc AC E4 2019 but sadly it was stolen by thieven scum bags 5 weeks ago from my home and found the next day by the police destroyed by fire. because of the small space i have in the ginnel for storing my bike i was wondering if theres much difference between them in length and width size when it comes to the sym jet x and the sym jet 14 E5 125. i believe the first service is oil change then the second service is a complete service where so many parts are replaced with new parts which makes no sense as the scooter and parts are brand new and it's pretty pricey too hmm. i heard that if you don't have your bike/scooter serviced then it is no longer under warranty..
I had the SYM JET-X 125cc for 1 year and here are my thoughts:

9. Instruments and buttons are simple and easy to use
CONS:
1. A mediocre braking system. Won't save you from anything. Try to brake early.
2. You cannot see anything in the mirrors. Very small and poorly positioned
3. The key is not exactly keyless. You have to press it every time to turn on the motorcycle. You simply don;t have to plug it in. Thats all

I bought such a scooter and right now I started to give it a run-in of the engine, I drive slowly around 50 km/h and I feel that the scooter rises and falls a little as if there are bumps in the road, why is there such a feeling? Why is the ride not smooth?
Hi this is normal for small scooters...they have small wheels and basic suspension so you will feel the bumps in the roads a bit it's quite normal
Big motorcycles are much smoother
Best wishes mark
What do you think of the fuel tank being under the seat and not between were you put your legs? From a practical perspective
Hi Stephen....it's not a major issue for me ...you have to lift the seat or lift a flap if the tank was between your legs like on a pcx
You may get a bigger area up front but then you loose space up front
50/50 really...all good either way
Cheers mark
Hi Mark nice review as usual, Very reasonably priced scooter, looks good quality, definitely a space in the market for it. I had a green Jetex car - think it was Jaguar D Type.- showing my age Mark All the best
Just bought the black matt Jet x ,loving it so far
Great choice...I was impressed how well it rides :)
Hi , how are you finding the bike at the moment. Is it worth its money
@@mikescott9410 Yeah bike really good, well worth it tbh
@@SuperDandoom I just had the black one delivered 3 days ago

Looking to buy max 125cc scooter (because of legislation) that will be used 90% in heavy traffic and maybe 10% extra urban (WITH PASSENGER). I am 184cm 100kg, what should I pick between jet x 125cc and zontes m125cc in your opinion ?
Hi I'd definitely go for the zontes ...it's amazing with great performance
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 thanks for your time and answer Mark !
Good looking pickup truck @ 9.22 , a Ford?
So many new makes of scooter now. Good for keeping the feet dry.
Thanks again nik
Interesting is that, for this scooter, not option switch lights absolutely off only whetn ignition switch is off
I wonder, what's under the fairing in between the rider feet. As long as the fuel tank is under seat, and not in frunt, under that plastic fairing, ruining the storage space under seat, the surface in front of the seat should have been flat. From this perspective, the Jet14 125cc is superior to this.
Same lol 😂
It's the battery compartment.
I'm curious as to why you ride with your index fingers on the brake levers?
Just habit tony ... sometimes I do sometimes not thanks for watching cheers mark
I do the same, it’s habit from riding in urban environments.
Best regards

In most of SEA nations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia etc.. The Sym JetX came with 150cc engine. It seems a pity it was only 125cc in GB and Europe. And it only cost around rm9000. 00 in malaysia or around 1700. 00 pound.
thank you, excellent review. this is kinda of strange that the scooter weight is 111 kg but when looking in the manufacturer website, it says 140 Kg. That's one hell of a difference for such a small scooter...any idea why ? (all the rest of the technical specifications are identical by the way)
Most of the sites I looked at say 111 kg but that's dry weight.....it probably is 140 ish kg wet with full tank of fuel ....I couldn't seem to find the weight of it on the UK sym Moto GB sites I had to look at other sources which all said 111 kg ...either way it's a brilliant light scooter
Cheers mark
Its funny
We have this in iran but the 170cc version and the funny thing is that The 125 cc version has 4 valves with water cooled radiators, but the 170 cc version has 2 valves and air cooling and it is not key less.. I wonder why the 125 version is not imported to our country.
i loved that we blind summit Mark at 14.00
Me too I've ridden over it 100s of times 🙂👍
Hello Mark. Is this good as Honda scooters?
About 80 % I'd say in terms of build quality....but this rides just as well as a pcx ,sym have a good reputation cheers mark
Can it really do 150 miles per gallon? I read some reviews on Reddit and the mile range riders have reported about was 40km/L
Hi it's possible if you are going slowly but in the real world about 100 mpg is more normal
Cheers mark
I'm in love with it
Nice bike, great review M
I'm choosing to buy this over the PCX
Would you recommend the jet X over the jet 14 ?
Hi yes definitely it has better performance....worth the extra money best wishes mark
@@markpulling12 Thanks for the answer I just ordered the Jet X 🥳
Now THAT'S a more affordable option!! Great scooter - I like that. BTW Mark...how on earth do you choose what to review?
Thanks Daniel ...I don't really choose I can only do what's available....I wish I could do WAY more but it's hard getting constant demos but I do ok :)
@@markpulling12 Yeah, you do really well!
Does the Sym Jet 14 125 4 valve liquid cooled has the same engine as this Jet X?
Hi yes they use the same engine

2.12 am I right in thinking this brand new scooter is only suitable for e5 fuel?
Hi no all modern motorcycles can run on e10 fuel with no probs 👍
Great video thanks
I do a lot of travelling and long distance and a lot of country lanes iv got the sym jet 14 and its struggling after 5000 miles would this model be better?
Maybe a tiny bit but you're only talking about a few mph difference
Personally I wouldn't change ...a second hand Forza 125 would be much faster
Best wishes mark
You have issues after 5k miles?
Excellent review.thank you.
Would u recommend this or a yamaha nmax?
I'd go for this or a good used Honda pcx
MotoGB must love you!
Haha yes !!!!
I am From Bangladesh. I like it.
What we want from Mr SYM is a competitor to the Honda ADV150 in 125cc.
Now that would be great 👍
Our roads are crap. There is a rut outside our local Sainsbury's that makes 4x4 dip as they go over it.
This is definitely China’s answer to the Honda PCX because especially side on it looks the same, although this SYM has a better looking front than the PCX
SYM JETX 125 the best.
They are a better bike than the PCX. The latter is one of those bikes that trades on the Honda name. Not to say the PCX is bad, it is a Honda after all.
Do any dealers service these? Obviously there’s no SYM dealerships
There's plenty of dealerships. You don't have to use a sym dealership. Any dealership providing you get the parts..
Is the speedometer reading in miles or kilometers?
Hi I'm in the UK so it's mph
Many thanks mark

This or yam NMAX 125?
These are quite a bit cheaper but still very good 💯
I'd go for the sym
Best wishes mark
This is a honda PCX with a SYM emblem.
This or PCX?
I actually prefer the sym and it's cheaper:)

that would be a nice bike if i didnt have my pcx
Expensive for a 125 when a pcx at the moment is £3600.
Please do a proper review on these scooters. Put a passenger on the back and take it up the mountains. Put some weight and see how the engines perform. Any new bikes will run well on the flats. That's your challenge from now on.
ну ты конечно убийца этого сайта) они точно скоро закроются из-за тебя)))
Looks like a ripoff of the Honda PCX. Except the PCx has way more storage space
Although this has disc brakes instead of a rear drum brake. Plus these don't suffer with keyless ignition problems. Compared to the pcx and forza.

??? Lol
@@markpulling12 Jesus, you're not Peter Zeihan!

lovely looking scooter for sure. i had the sym jet 14 125cc AC E4 2019 but sadly it was stolen by thieven scum bags 5 weeks ago from my home and found the next day by the police destroyed by fire. because of the small space i have in the ginnel for storing my bike i was wondering if theres much difference between them in length and width size when it comes to the sym jet x and the sym jet 14 E5 125. i believe the first service is oil change then the second service is a complete service where so many parts are replaced with new parts which makes no sense as the scooter and parts are brand new and it's pretty pricey too hmm. i heard that if you don't have your bike/scooter serviced then it is no longer under warranty..
