wow wow what a terrific sounding record, so amazing
Over 100 Years Old.
That is almost hard to believe we have had this media format for over a century.
And they still live on, I am very thankful for this recording. Thank you for making your mark!
No edits no auto tunes.. just pure voices and talent
If only it was still like that
We own this 78. It's musically wonderful, and it was well recorded.
Thank You 😊
Technically that’s 76.59 RPM… they didn’t standardize on 78 (well, 78.26) until the mid twenties.
I wonder how much that 75¢ price tag is in todays money?
@@sha1omover 10 dollars I guess
It's really fascinating to listen to this song by a real authentic from the era barbershop quartet back when they were the cool trendy thing. I notice the sound is almost identical but there are a few differences in the sound. I should share this with my best friend, we were talking about this earlier, wondering why we never hear barbershop quartet music from the era it was actually recorded (aunt Jamie, if you're reading this, thank you for giving me a reason to look this up and discover awesome music). We both have unusual tastes in music for young people (she was born in 2001, I was born in 2006).
My father had a copy of this record. Thanks for the memories. 🙂👍
Very nice song no regrets on listening.
Voices hum, crooning over Moonlight Bay,
Banjos strum, tuning while the moon beams play.
All alone, unknown they find me
Memories like these remind me
Of the girl I left behind me,
Down on Moonlight Bay.
[Chorus]
We were sailing along On Moonlight Bay,
We could hear the voices ringing,
They seemed to say
“You have stolen her heart,
Now don’t go ‘way!”
As we sang Love’s Old Sweet Song,
On Moonlight Bay
[Verse 2]
Candle lights gleaming on the silent shore;
Lonely nights, dreaming till we meet once more.
Far apart, her heart is yearning,
With a sigh for my returning,
With the light of love still burning,
As in days of yore.
I’m learning this on piano. I love everything about it and fun to play
Thank you for this upload.
You're very welcome!
Beautiful!
1911 - the year my grandparents where born
This is cool
Do you physically come across these records then put them online, or an archival website or something? A combination? Great channel, it’s super interesting to hear all these songs from so long ago.
I think he owns them
Heard on various Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts.
I wanna hear more songs with the same vibe as this, any suggestions?
Henry Burr 💜
Any of this quartet's other songs are great. Also, Bill Murray. WWI-Era recordings too.
Hot Time in the Old Town is a good song. From 1897
Quartet songs of the 1910s

they are all dead.
Are you saying that people born in the 19th century are already dead in the 21st century? Unbelieveable! 😮
