What a beautiful job. One of the better performances of this piece I have heard. I always heard that Liberace wasn't all that good with the classics but I loved this one. My father loved this piece, and hearing it played so beautifully made me cry.
Well, he learned on the classics in his youth, and I'm sure he learned to play them well. But when it came to making a better living, becoming his family's main breadwinner in his teens, he learned that playing more modern, popular varieties of music simply paid better. 💰😁
Liberace's marvelous piano plays shall live on throughout time. His wonderful shows lead by his great personality shall never, ever be forgotten. Lee, we'll be listening and ... seeing you, again, and again.
Wunderbar!!! Viva!!!! Bravo & Bravisimo!!! Magnifique!!! Done with such sweet & charming flairs!!! Keep up the good works. Much good lucks to you and all that you do.
First saw him on Sincerely Yours when very young with my Gran and loved his music ever since but must admit I live his classical most of all with the wealth of feeling he put into every composition!!!
@@davidcarroll1883 that is very sad.smoking..!!! sure. I felt this man is trying to sublime the music during the playing.it is just as he is say:there is no fact just an interpretation. I have such pattern too when I play.🙏🍎🍎🍎 thanks a lot
@@ossianhaddod9065 : Liberace was gay. He kept his lifestyle rather subdued, unless he was making subtle jokes about it on the Johnny Carson Show. He died of AIDS.
It is sad. He didn’t take good care of himself.. I don’t know how a person can remember all the songs he had in his repertoire.. he was a brilliant man indeed.
Absolutely the most beautiful version of this song I've ever heard it is also one of the most difficult piano songs to play Liberace played it perfectly
UNA Y MIL VECES MUCHAS GRACIAS AL GRAN LIBERACE Y SU PIANO POR DARNOS ESA INMENSA FELICIDAD DE VER Y ESCUCHAR TODAS ESAS MELODÍAS TAN GRATAS PARA NUESTROS OÍDOS ES UN DELEITE UNA VEZ MÁS GRACIAS LIBERACE 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
the "mario lanza" of the piano. derided by the "know-it-alls" because he chose a career on television and film instead of the concert hall. that choice did NOT "change" his god-given talent.
I listened to Victor Borge's version recently. The base was too strong in the second movement for my liking. It overpowers the melody line. Same with Liberace above. I prefer Pascal Roge's interpretation. I'm relearning this piece now and I also tend to get too strong with the left hand in the second movement. It is very difficult to keep it soft while giving it the tempo required. Pascal Roge does it beautifully. Something to strive for, not sure I'll get there.
The info in the intro is romanticized nonsense. The title “Clair de lune” was from a poem by Verlaine. Yet when Debussy originally composed the piece, its title was “Promenade sentimentale”. Nothing to do with moonlight any more than Beethoven’s Op. 27/2 Sonata has. Lee played it nicely, despite some fudging. And he could never resist an opportunity to recompose something according to his own whim. His improvements didn’t actually make it better. It would have been just fine had he played it as originally written.
nobody does this peace better. he's a legend. rip
He allowed his great Spirituality to show. A man so full of love he had to. Share it..
THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF IT I HAVE EVER HEARD. SIMPLY. MARVELOUS
This song brings me back to my wonderful mother. Miss her terribly. Love you mom.
I saw him live when I was twelve, everyone was dressed up. The lights, the glitter, the music, a show I will always remember. God Bless Liberace.
Not just a showman with lots of flash. Here he proves he can play with incredible sensitivity. When I was 5, he was a hero of mine.
He was just “magic” on the piano classics or anything else. Wish he could have lived forever!
Liberace was also a dog lover. He left many thousands to his dogs when he died.
Pat Martens he is living forever, in eternity..
One of my very favorite classical pieces of music....Liberace does a beautiful job of playing it....you can tell how much he loves playing it.
I grew up listening to my beloved father playing this piece on the piano. It will always be my favorite.
A wonderful man with a beautiful spirit and impeccable style and talent.
Amazing Liberace ❤😂❤❤
He paints beautiful scenes with his music
Absolutely Beautiful!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Beautiful. Played like it should be. He was the greatest pianist.
I love watching his face. He is more transfixed than any of us by the beauty of it.

You heard wrong. Liberace specialized in classical music. He re-arranged it for the particular audience he was dealing with.
Libersa was the world's greatest pianist, we all miss him
Liberace + Clair De Lune = Pure Magic. My musical hero forever!
Same here! 🥰 🎵
Thank you for putting up this video! Just love Liberace playing Clair de Lune.

This song was playing at the hospital when my daughter was born. 🥹
Absolutely marvelous. Than-you

Love his texture on this One. The most amazing facet of the Piano is that it needs no Lyrics, No Explanation, Only to be heard & listen too
Time does not detract from Liberace's Clair de lune at all. I enjoy it today as much as when I first heard it many, many years ago.
Did I just witness perfection? Seems like it to me! I need to get a tissue.
MY GOD!! This man was so amazing!! So sad, he died so young!
David,,,,how did he die and what is what !!!🍎🍎🍎tell me..
@@ossianhaddod9065 I heard he had AIDS. Along with cardio vascular disease from years of smoking.

I bet Debussey would've smiled with approval had he been one of those listening at a table.
😍❤️❤️👏👏👏👏
Above all things...Magnanimous!
Era un vero genius pianisticamento bravi bravissimo
Just pure heavon.wow
I think American Airlines used part of this song in their commercials in the early 2000s
Or was it United with Rhapsody in Blue? Both maybe?🤷🏻

Wow what happened to that beautiful world?
No sheet music.
TV allowed more people to hear music from the past up tp
My guess is that none of the replies I've read so far, have never heard Victor Borge at the piano play this wonderful piece.
You are so right. Nothing matches up V.B.'s clair de lune, even in his advanced age.

Liberace is often, sometimes rightly, accused of hammering the keyboard. This is played with delicacy

DEBUSSY are the composer -
He sort of screwed up the end, but it was a wonderful job overall.
I only know two pieces; one is 'Clair de Lune' and the other one isn't. Victor Borge
