From what I understand, and can easily see myself, Liberace was pure love. There are people who don't like classical music, and simply will not listen. But for a moment, away from all distraction, Liberace invites you... just you... into his world. Here, you are calmed by his lullaby voice and a warmth in his eyes that will never judge you. Liberace would like to share with you a moment from the life of one the worlds great composers. You listen as he honors his memory, and are humbled by this gentle man who truly cares about that forgotten life, and is sharing it with you right now.
Thank you... You can see the compasion and trust in Liberace's eyes. He was a gentle person who had nothing to hide, and no interest in judging others. I am so glad he acheived the success and recognition he truly earned. Someday, maybe, the world will be a safer place for more special people like Liberace.
Every sentence that you wrote is true. When Liberace she plays Chopin, This Magnificent composer is inspiring him to share what heaven will be like hearing these magnificent compositions with so many. Who is greater than Liberace, no one. He was so kind and gentle and fun. I miss you our dear liberace. You will never be forgotten
I Love Liberace; not just for piano. His style, sense of humor, a ready smile that reaches his eyes. I’ve been a fan since childhood tv show from 1950s. Oh, and he loved dogs. He even crouched down to say hello to cats on a sidewalk in Rome. A Great Man...Indeed!
@@atierney4224 That show of his in the 50's was insanely popular! He made only about a dozen of them but its large viewership really brought the magic of classical piano to the masses as well as making him a permanent feature of American culture. Of course, besides his mastery of the piano, he had his utterly charming personality. I never met the man but I know several people who have and each told me he was just as charming and approachable just walking down the street or waiting at the airport.
Probably somewhere in a lone chalet in the countryside. In other case he would be reported to Police for the breach of quiet time. From 10:30 vimeo.com/308466479
Liberace fue un magnífico pianista y arreglista que destacó las obras más importantes del repertorio universal y este nocturno está tocado de una manera bellísima con gran y emotivo fraseo y sentimiento . Gracias por incluirlo.
For people who didn't notice, in the middle the scene cuts to Liberace impersonating Chopin, wearing a suit that was similar to one that was worn by Chopin in one of the few surviving photographs of him.
The piano also is switched from a grand to a square piano, which I suppose would have been common in the intimate parlor rooms where Chopin usually performed. But the actual recording is dubbed in. Those square pianos didn't sound too good.

He had his debut with the Chicago Symphony orchestra 1940. An accomplished concert pianist. He learned soon there as no money in being a concert pianist. So he became mr show business of the 88 keys. His father was with the Milwaukee symphony as a French horn player. A wonderful pianist.
I remember him saying, that he had a family to take care, end its not easy to make Americans sit down and listen to classical music.,so he made that virtuoso combination of classic and modern, having Gershwin as a wonderful brige.......and I love him for that,as I like all kinds of good music, and he gives me a unique cocktail!!!!!!! RIP maestro! I'll always remember love you.
See his concert with London symphony orchestra. The Concertos. Where he put together several concerto. Like The Warsaw Concerto. He wa Polish. His mothers side and I believe Italian his fathers side. A wonderful pianist and entertainer. Charming person.
Many years ago, my uncle was helping a friend of his to sell off his old monophonic records. One of them was Liberace Plays Chopin. We bought it and all my favoiutite Chopin pieces are on that record. They were not favourites prior to that but Liberace made them so. I wore out the A Major Polonaise so bad that the needle would jump. I played that in my school's house music competition. I blame Lee!
Exactly, the only kind of artists I like, the ones with heart and soul and today there are 3 who are my favorite for that reason but they are not American. Our celebrities are these days totally low class.
I couldn't care less if he had bling or not (although I really love it) I just lie for that amazing smile and unbelievable talent on the piano. Anyone that hates or hated the man because of his flamboyance can go to hell and didn't deserve him 😤 RIP Lee, the world needs someone like you again
I don't believe, in all the years I've enjoyed Liberace's playing, I've ever heard him pay anything so eloquently and with such sensitivity.. absolutely brilliant playing at his best!
He did a great job of introducing elements of classical music to a wider audience. He sometimes took liberties with the original compositions but they were generally done in a tasteful way.
Liberace had a very soft touch. He was fairly accurate, and quite fast. I think his Chopin is really pleasant, and he was exceptionally good at boogie-woogie, and latin music.
Great showman, great pianist & great personality. Charming guy, you could tell he was a good person; also, he was so polite. I hated those celebrities that criticized him. They were not worth half as much as he was, like that clown, Dean Martin.
I recall LIberace saying that the idea for his trademark candelabra gimmick came to him from watching an old movie about Chopin, where a scene showed a candelabra on Chopin's piano.
And that violin...it just makes the whole thing even more beautiful than it is. Plus, considering the original scores of these are probably much different than the ones we heare on CD; this performance minus the violin, has to be closest, probably, to Chopin's original as we shall have today.
Interpretação cheia de vida e espiritualidade como pede uma composição do mestre Chopin. Com certeza aprovaria com louvor. Pianista completo. Clássico ou popular. Virtuosissimo. Sempre LIBERACE...

Here is one, an actor.... Robin Williams. Towards the end of Mrs Doubtfire, as she is sitting in her easy chair and looks into her children"s eyes who are watching on TV... she describes softly, what makes a family. And how differences in the number of parents, or their gender, makes it no less of a family. That is my favorite scene.
Besides "getting inside" an audience, Liberace was musician enough-and then some!-to be able to get inside music that has well exceeded any test of time. Because he exuded an uncommon grace, too many people mistook him for things he was not. Beyond those infectious smiles and beckoning laughter was deep pain and longing. But as the star he truly was, he took those anguishes and turned them into something stellar. Be it a 3 minute song or a half-hour concerto, Liberace offered you a chance to escape your world of worries for a brief respite in the peace that is music. Godspeed, Lee. Love.

Yes, I wondered that, too. Notice that the piano in the video is a square piano, not a grand. I suspect that Liberace pre-recorded this on a modern grand piano and then that recording was placed over this film of him playing the antique piano seen here. I wouldn't call that a "sham".
It runs at a slight delay, probably pre-recorded audio of better quality and overlapped it. Or audio just wasn't synced properly. Either way it's far from a blatant 'sham'.
@@unclespeller6568 if you think about it, Liberace's piano and electric candelabra have transformed into a different piano with wax candles in the candelabra. I think it was a wonderful visual effect as well as a beautiful piece of music to hear.
Guy Saltis - video /audio sync issue not a Liberace credibility issue. It’s quite common on YT. I’ve seen lots of guitar players including Hendrix where the sync is off and makes it look like they’re miming when they’re not.
