king joon I agree, I feel that way with most rides. I went to Disneyland last week and looked back into the Star Tours ride as we were getting off and it gave me the chills.
Finally a video that completely allows me to understand how it actually works. I had so many questions and now they’ve finally been answered. Thank you!
This is so awesome! I knew the ride was a robotic arm but wasn't exactly sure how it worked! Same with the rotating movie screens! This ride is beyond epic and probably my favorite ride of all time. Knowing this doesn't take the magic away, it makes me actually want to ride it right now.
Being a Coaster Enthusiast, I know quite I a lot about this. And to answer your question, it's all about capacity. Low capacity means long lines. People do not want to wait in long lines, and people who does wait, tend to get bored quicker than those who doesn't. A bored guest will leave earlier, thus the park makes less money. If the screens were not to rotate, the next train would have to wait until the one ahead of it clears that section. Now it just syncs up with it's own screen, and can therefore complete the ride without stopping in the middle backing up the system.
I’m about to go on this ride and your video has really help calmed my nerves! I can’t stand not knowing what’s going on in a ride as it gives me extreme anxiety attacks but now that I know the worst of it (to me turning completely on the side) I can ride it comfortably!
How did Daviem and kassy get on? i havent done this ride and would like to try but also experience anxiety and just in the line. Did you manage the ride and did you enjoy it?
@@bobski81 After getting in line they have you sit in a cart that looks like the one in the film. I managed to go through it and actually really loved it! For me my biggest fear was thinking it was a rollercoaster. It was very fun in the end
Rode this at least 4 times yesterday and I kept on trying to peer out to see how the mechanisms in the attraction worked, because it always seemed so magical XD thanks for breaking it down for us ! this is rlly impressive :)
This ride is so ingenious!! I never knew something that seemed so complex could actually be very simple! I really loved this ride when we went to Orlando’s Islands of Adventure. We rode on it twice! I would ride it many more times in the future, because it was definitely one of my favorites :)
one of the coolest things I saw in my life ! And more incredible, the NEW harry potter in orlando (escape from gringots, something like this) is EVEN MORE fantastic !!!
Great ride, very scary though. First time I went I had my friend (21) to my left and a small kid (8-10) on my right, alone. I was so worried about this kid in the spider/dementor sections, but at the end of the ride, the kid was smiling and laughing, and my tattood, 6'4 friend was shitting himself. great times.
this is super helpful, thanks. I'm going through a series of self-treatment to desensitize myself for roller-coaster-restraint triggered claustrophobia and this explanation was helpful. Took some of the mystery and unknowns away.
I am a huge Harry Potter fan, but have refused to get on this ride many times because I'm a total chicken. lol Thanks to your video, I will be going on this next time we are at the park. Sooooo excited! THANK YOU!!!!!!
To celebrate 250.000 views on this video I started a poll how my "Gringotts" recreation should look like... Submit your votes and let me know what you think!
I can hardly tell if this ride triggers your fear of heights. In fact: Nowhere in this ride you are actually higher than 5 metres above the ground. If it feels higher its because of the projected film parts that simulate flying. At least in the Orlando version of the ride I felt quite safely "strapped" into the ride seats - reminded me of sitting in one of those referee seats on tennis courts with feet dangling in the air...
Fantastic! All at once this ride doesn't seem so giant and massive as it is just a track with robot arms but what an innovation! Best ride yet on Planet Earth! (yes, I am considering Indiana Jones as well). Simply amazing!
Ride was brilliant but made me sick as a damn dog. I had to look away and that's when I saw the bench next to mine and saw how it operated , it literally is a brilliant design.
Actually in real life the ride uses even more than four projection screens on one "carousel", but i had to make it four to make it work in Rollercoaster Tycoon.
Thank you so much for this! My little brother was scared to get on bc it looked scary and I couldn’t see anything with the pov’s but it’s looks really fun! Thanks again
We always do single rider and you USED to be able to run out of the gift shop and straight across through the lockers to get back into the single rider line w/o having to go outside. However the last time we were there (2019) now they make you go ALL the way out to the arch in the beginning of the line outside to get back in line :-/
Thank you so much for this! I wanted to go but was worried how interactive it got since I’m epileptic. Long bouts of strobe lighting is a trigger so seeing that that’s not the case has assured me.
Strobelights can"t be reproduced convincingly in the game, therefore it is not included in the video. The attraction has small passages with strobes as far as i recall.
Exactly my thoughts when riding it for the first time. IMHO the main issue about this attraction is you still "feel" the difference between the projected and the "real" scenes of the ride - even if it´s 4k and 3D and so on.
I believe the ride lasts 4 mins. I was scared to ride it but now i plan on it. Many have told me i can likely handle it. Super cool to see how it works!
@@mattchu2624 somewhat, what scared me was at one point the ride vehicle tilted back, so you were on your back, so to speak, looking at the ceiling, I didn't know what to expect, I thought it was going to continue and flip upside down backwards! It didn't. I would ride it again, now that I know I'm not going upside down backwards.
Too bad stupid Universal Studios Hollywood in Southern CA got rid of the 3d glasses, which the ride was DESIGNED to be ridden with in order to get the full experience! Just because a few people that couldn't handle the ride got sick & ruined it for everyone else so unfortunate! The ride used to be soooo amazing! 💔💔😭😭
MissRuthless i rode in 3D before it Was changed. & well my mom also got sick so its ok i mean i still want to ride again. It's like riding the simpsons.
Jacob Wageman It's been awhile but I can't recall weather or not the Simpsons ride has 3d glasses. Some people are more sensitive to motion simulated rides, rollercoaster & even 3d movies than others but I don't see the point in making such a huge stink about it then ruining it for other people that enjoy the ride and don't get sick. Solution is if someone can't handle the ride then just don't go on it again.
Well i can handle certain rides I actually loved it Well the Simpson's ride is basically back to the future just with out the props & 3D, i rode it opening day.
The 3D didnt make much of a difference in how the ride looked. The images barely popped Im a USH regular (2-3 x a month) and im really glad they took the 3D off Had been on it before in Orlando and loved it but went on the USH version during the march previews and i nearly threw up. After it officially opened everytime i would go on it would make me nauseous. Everyone i would go with felt a range between somewhat dizzy and nausea. Now we are all fine when we ride it. The 3D took too much of a toll on our bodies for such a little difference
The ride was never designed to be 3D. Most of the ride is physical effects and theming which were largely blocked by the glasses. The video in the domes was not shot or rendered in 3D to begin with so it was mediocre quality artificial 3D anyway. The ride was open with standard media for 6 years before they tried to convert it to 3D. In my opinion this ride is much better without glasses.
Thanks! I was so scared about this ride, but realy loving it and wanting to go on it. People and my heary convinced me it was just like krusty land, but my brain just said: NOPE NOPE NOPE! i feel much better, and plan on going on it this sunday, thanks to you!! :D
Whenever i'm sitting on the end I try to lean forward and look at the track next to me. The track/claw mechanism is actually terrifying looking lmao
king joon just got back from Orlando and thought the exact same thing
king joon I agree, I feel that way with most rides. I went to Disneyland last week and looked back into the Star Tours ride as we were getting off and it gave me the chills.
I always do that as well. I saw "the making of" on ABC before it opened and the mechanics of it is truly fascinating
I thought the same thing yesterday looks terrifying
Yes it is very horror movie esque. All the good rides I feel with the lights on would be creepy looking.

Barf warning (unless your me)
You won't be able to see the arm or any mechanisms while you're on-ride. You just see the harness
This was so cool! I always wondered how the bits with the screens work! This ride is SO awesome. :)
Why do the screens turn like this? Sorry, I haven't been on the ride, so I don't quite understand what the effect looks like in person
