Using Metallic Marabu Alcohol Inks in the Waterfall/Rain Method - Nailed It (Finally)!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 сер 2021
- A wonderful viewer recently reached out to me with a vast collection of Marabu alcohol inks that she wanted to sell, so I said "Sure!" and decided to use some of them right away to do another Waterfall/Rain Alcohol Ink method tumbler. And danged if I didn't finally control my heat gun enough to get the results I'd been striving for - Shazam! I did realize as I was editing this video that I never actually shook up the metallic colored inks I used, so it's not really indicative of any "metallic" aspect, but still looks really pretty!!
Send me a nice letter (I'll write back - promise!)!! I may even send you a small gift... maybe... you never know!

I love Swirls! Mostly swirls of color, but really any swirls at all - I think they add a beauty and grace to everything. So after I started making soap a few years ago, and needing some sort of biz name that didn't sound like everyone else's version of suds-r-us, I decided on Luxinda Swirl. Luxinda is a twist on my real name, and I quickly started putting swirls of color in all of my handmade soaps.
Now I'm branching out a bit, and I want to keep adding swirls to everything I do! - Навчання та стиль
Oh my goodness! ANOTHER beauty!! You mentioned that some folks get upset with you for "wasting" alcohol inks".....they should mind their own business; they didn't purchase them! Ignore those folks and keep creating the way YOU want to :)
Thank you!
I got those Rocky Horror references! They didn't get by me!!! Love ya!! The cup is beautiful!! ❤💛💚💙💜🌈
😁😁😁🥰
Love the Rocky Horror reference!!! Beautiful cup
Thanks!!
Wow! I love it. Love the colors and effects! I love the way you experiment and show us. Thank-you so much.
Thank you very much! Cheers!
Love the Rocky Horror references
Thanks!!
I love your excitement when it worked that fast hurray!!!! This is gorgeous!
Thanks!! I know! I kept looking at it, thinking, “that can’t possibly have worked on the first try…!” It is rare like a unicorn. 🦄
Goodmorning! Thank you for sharing!
Mornin’ - thank you! 😊
Wow! That's gorgeous!
😊😊
Always better to under work I find, very nice tumbler🌻 awesome videos 🌞
Thank you! That certainly seems to be the case… now if I could just get myself to hold back instead of overdoing everything.
Omgosh, so pretty! And I loved the RHPS reference in there.
Thank you!
Cracks me up how much other worry about wasting products.... it's your money -- if you're not concerned then why should anyone else be lol?? So exciting to get such a great haul of inks -- the rainbow on black is absolutely gorgeous, can't wait for your reaction to it and to see the color shifting inks as well! This cup is lovely, as usual 💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you!! 😊
Thanks! Being frugal and using resources wisely is fantastic, but this particular method sort of lends itself to some run-off. I just consider it part of the technique, and I’m always sorry that some folks are upset by it. Can’t wait to try all the shifting glitters on black!
It did my heart good to see you working with the inks I sent you and your reaction to the rainbow was priceless! Such a pretty cup too!
Thank you! And thank you again! The inks will bring much enjoyment!!
It turned out Beautiful! Love the water slide lol
Thank you! 😊
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!

@@phyllisgast8357 oops! I swear I answered a different comment, not yours, and my reply made sense, but YT stuck it here instead. I’m very sorry!
Thank you very much for the kind words (that have nothing to do with Easter eggs 🙄)!!!
@@Luxinda I totally agree that this would make GORGEOUS Easter Eggs! 🥰

Thank you!!
Really turned out quite beautiful! Love those colors
Thank you!! I think not including the magenta actually worked out well.
Super cool💖
Thank you!!
Power drill…that would be pretty cool 😎
Definitely!!
Eureka! That came out soooooo nice & I love the saying, I can relate to that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you!! I’ve been compiling some sarcastic/snarky sayings just to put on cups when I can’t think of anything.
@@Luxinda 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Have you ever done a tumbler with metallic foil? I’ve been watching a lady here on YT that does lots of lovely things with the foil and you came to mind, I could see you making some amazing tumblers with it 🙂
@@wtglb hmmm, I haven’t tried that yet, but that’s an interesting idea! Thanks!!
@@Luxinda Artistic Painting Studios is the channel if you are curious
@@wtglb thanks! I’ll check it out!
Love it!!!!!!!
Thanks!!
Turned out gorgeous and the steps were so simple.
Thanks!! I know… it was almost *too* simple 🤔🤣 I may never be able to do it again.
Is that a puppy pad she's using under the the turner?! That's a great idea!!! Super absorbent.
Yes, it is 😁
You are brilliant!!! I would've never thought of that. Going to put that at the top of the walmart list.
When you first said "Look what I got in the mail" I thought it was all of their new colors and I was going to be soooo jealous LOL that you got them before I got mine!!! I was getting on here to say "HEYYYY do you know they have some new colors!!!????" But of course you do!!!! You're soooo far ahead of the game!! I CANNOT WAIT to get them!!! Your cup is gorgeous as usual even if you forgot to shake them!! No worries :) I've been wanting to do an "all metallic" cup (well, only the ones that would go well w/one another!) But I just love this so I may have to try this instead!! Hope your weekend is a good one!! Thanks for sharing your gift w/all of us!! AND thanks for doing things YOUR WAY!!
Thanks very much!! I did get the new colors just a couple days ago, but haven’t gotten to play with them yet 🙁 Enjoy yours! I saw a preview of them on Myriam’s Nature, and they look really beautiful 🤩
@@Luxinda I hadn’t ever heard of Myriam before but I went directly to her UA-cam…. OMG she’s awesome too!! I can’t believe she helped create a color w/Marabu!!! That’s so cool!! I probably won’t get my new colors until sometime at the end of the week darn it!
I definitely need to learn how you two do this diluting the ink thing! How did you learn that? And how did you know how much to dilute it with? (Into those little white bottles) I just would love to sit and shadow you for days!!! Lol I would learn sooo stinkin much!!! Oh well! A girl can dream a little, right 😉
Have a Blessed Sunday!!
@@lorenmcghee8277, she is amazing!!! I learned a ton from watching her videos when I first started, and I always watch any new ones. Can’t wait to try the new white just because she helped them develop it!! I learned about diluting the white ink from her and the brass ink from Christi Brown over at @gracefulrainart on TikTok.
Beautiful,love that median,thanks for sharing 😁it's gorgeous 😁
Thank you!!
Hahaha, love how you get excited over the Rainbow Ink 😆
Like Christmas morning! ✨😁
I love how this looks! I’m working on an "under the sea" cup and I am going to try this technique!
Thanks! Go for it - that would look beautiful 🤩
Loved the Rocky Horror reference. I have learned so much from watching you. Now I need to figure out how to print a water slide.
Thank you!!! If you have an inkjet printer, they produce the best looking water slides, I think. You can use water slide paper in a laser printer (it needs to be specifically waterslide paper for laser printers), but good color waterslides seem to come mostly from inkjet. Any graphic program that will allow you to print a graphic or some text can be used with waterslide paper, then seal it, cut it out, and soak it before applying. There are Etsy shops and other stores online that sell waterslide designs already printed and ready to use. So that’s always an option.
Love it💖please do a video with the colour shift inks, I need to source them in the UK 🤞
Thank you! It's definitely on my list!!
Awesome
Thank you!
Lol love the Rocky horror joke
Another pretty one! I am a pour paint artist too...way more waste then your acholo ink use
Thank you! 👄 I still have soooooo many paint pour skin pieces from trying to reuse everything. I could probably do a full-wall mural with all of them. 🤣 They do make beautiful jewelry.
@@Luxinda I do you lol and have a cabinet full of paintings. I use alot of my skins for cup wraps too. I got tired of making jewelry and have boxes of that too lol more craft supplies and finished projects then I have sence 🤣
It's beautiful! Quick question, is the base paint you used Gloss? Matte? Satin? I've been struggling with alcohol inks directly on painted tumbler (vs applied in epoxy). I think I just had an A HA moment watching this video. I think flooding first with alcohol is the step I'm missing. I can't wait to give it a go again with this new information (so BIG BIG thanks). 👍
Thank you! This cup is covered with a couple layers of matte white spray paint. I usually use matte because it dries faster, but I think any white will work. Yes, flooding the cup first with 91% alcohol makes a huge difference. You’ll get it!
Hello love your videos I have a question do you spray paint your tumblers or do you use just use them
Thanks!! I almost always spray paint my tumblers before starting something, but not always. For example, this particular style is specifically supposed to show the stainless steel metal underneath the alcohol ink: ua-cam.com/video/FpxF3hvTDdo/v-deo.html
Wonder how this would come out with Halloween colors?
Definitely the right time of year to find out!
Time warp..😉
Ive been having issues using gold... Ive tried mixing it down idk what i am doing wrong. Would you mind sharing your brass mix ingredients and ratio?
Sure! Whatever amount of the brass alcohol ink you measure out, add 50% of that amount in 91% alcohol. So 10 ml of brass + 5 ml alcohol. Hope it helps! In general, the brass seems to flow better than any of the other metallic alcohol inks.
@@Luxinda awsome ty so much! I will give it a try this week sometime!
@@ladykryss8311 hope it works well for you!!
me either no control with alcohol inks
The very thing that makes them so irritating also makes them such fun to use (in other situations) -- it's a conundrum to say the least!
@@Luxinda i actually stood downstairs intending to only check my alcohol ink cup - its 1 hr later. i used ur technique of just alcohol on cup and thinned where i didn’t like…. on and on
