I am really looking forward to what Microsoft releases in late 2019. I think they might finally switch to Thunderbolt 3 expanding the potential of the Surface Pro 7. Also looking forward for the Surface Book 3 which might bring RTX graphics already, that would be an alternative. I am looking to replace my expensive MacBook Pro 15 which keyboard might fail and where Finder is really painful dealing with large amount of files.
I would consider a surface laptop if it came with a 15 inch display. The 13 inch variant is too small for serious productivity work (programming, video editing etc). I know that they offer a 15 inch computer - the surface book - but I don't like the way it looks and it's too expensive for what it offers. They should consider adding a usb-c port because it's quite ridiculous for a 2018 device to not have one. You'd be better off with a Dell XPS or Lenovo x1 carbon if you want the small business look and feel.

It depends on your needs. You can do far more with the surface pro, and OneNote is excellent on it. You also get a proper file system. But with the iPad you get longer battery life, thinner device and easier to carry around, despite being slightly heavier than the surface pro. You also get access to iOS App Store with a lot of highly optimised, powerful apps (studying, research, presentations, drawing, music creation, etc) but again, you are getting more power with the surface pro. The surface pro, in my experience, and judging from reports in the media, is unreliable, and suffers from more bugs( which is not that surprising as there is more that go wrong. With more capability, but compared to other laptops, it does break down more often). The tablet mode is good, but no way near the iPad yet. Ask yourself what you want to do with it, and find out which ones meets your needs, bearing in mind the pros and cons. Personally I prefer the iPad, but it is more of a secondary device that excels in certain areas compared to the surface pro.
It really depends an what you're going to value more - a laptop or a tablet? if you need the keyboard for productivity (eg for students or business users) the Surface will probably be better. But if you're going to be using tablet mode mostly, no question the ipad is better. It'll also be better if you plan on doing a lot of drawing (but both are fine for basic drawing and note taking). If you're choosing one to be your primary or main machine I'd go with the Surface as I think having a fully featured OS will come in handy, but as a secondary device both are great.
Just want to jump in and mention that while the ipad is great for drawing, it's not as powerful as the surface is for illustration and concept art. ipad is fine for drawing and sketching, surface pro allows you to do the real concept art and illustration work though

3D modelling uses CPU not GPU. Coming from a VFX artist.. just saying. Rendering, however - while it still uses the cpu in the majority of renderer packages (cpu gives a more accurate render) you can have a totally gpu based renderer such as octane.. but that’s if you want a smooth graphicy look to your renders... films and true to life renders are done in Arnold and sometimes vray for cheaper productions as they handle light more realistically - and they’re both cpu renderers............ you DO NOT NEED A GPU unless you’re a gamer. Simple as that.

I just bought the surface pro 6 i7 16gb 1tb starting to think maybe the book was the better choice anyone with a simular model got any tips or case recommendedtions or just general user experience?
It depends on your needs. The major advantage to the Surface Pro is the weight. If you are fine with heavier, then the Book would be more powerful with a bigger screen (but also more expensive). I just bought a Surface Book 2 and the main thing I prefer about the Surface Pro is how easy it is to remove the keyboard whenever (plus how much lighter it is to lug around).
I'm a college student and I currently have a macbook air (not the new updated model), and I want a windows machine. Would ya'll say go with the surface laptop or the pro 6?
Nihmit Colomer I don’t know if my reply is too late but here’s what I think. I have a surface pro 5 and it pretty good. The only thing I find annoying is the kickstand because it’s not that comfortable in your lap and it’s hard to carry around while it’s open. It also takes up more space on the desk. However, I make really good use of the touch screen and pen since i write most of my notes digitally and do a lot of digital art. It does require getting used to writing on the screen, but I really like it. My friend on the other hand has the surface laptop and it looks really nice. A bigger screen and nicer aesthetic. She was also surprised by how light it was. But basically, if you think you could make good use of the pen, then surface pro. If you wouldn’t use it, then definitely surface laptop.

I hope they put a dedicated gpu for the next surface laptop like a mx150 4gb or 1650 and put that hybrid thing that the so called "gaming" laptops use where you use the igpu for surfing, typing essays or light stuff application, and use the dedicated gpu for modelling, drawing apps or heavy application, etc.

If it's important to you to have something super light that you can pick up and use anytime, then Surface Pro might work as your only computer.
@@lowerstreet Thanks for the quick reply! I will need portability multiple times a week, so I think that I will go with the Surface Pro and a docking station. I appreciate your opinion/help.
I love the surface series, I'm gonna get the pro 6 soon :)
Surface Pro: Meant to be used on desk/table or hand.
Surface Laptop: Meant to be used on desk/table, lap.
Surface Laptop for me any day.
V. Sriram Sundar I fly a lot and often you can find a good surface to put your laptop on.
Surface Pro all the way. Will never go back to a regular laptop.
Idk what to get. Surface pro 6, surface laptop 2 or surface book 2. Tips?
@@sneezygibz6403 If you want a big screen and max performance and laptop body is more important but you still want tablet sometimes, get the Surface Book 2. It has dual GPU option as well. If you want max portability, lightness, and flexibility in doing whatever you want, get the Surface Pro. If you want a traditional laptop in a small light body, get the Surface Laptop 2.
@@onlysublime I just need it for school. Course work involving computer science. Capable of running eclipse, Microsoft visual studio code, unity and android studio. I saw them in person performance wise I liked the book2 but the style was too simple, style and portability was pro 6 and the laptop 2 was ehh. Sorry for the bother just really indecisive. I just need it for coding
@@sneezygibz6403 I'm a Surface Pro guy. Its performance is great and it's such a tight package. Heck, even when washing dishes, I rip off the keyboard and put the Surface by the sink for Netflix while washing. SB2 is too big and heavy for me. Zero interest in a traditional laptop for me. The SB2 does have the biggest battery when in laptop mode and the smallest battery when in tablet mode (it has a battery in the keyboard base and a battery in the tablet). I do some C# and C++ on my Surface Pro. As long as you don't think the screen is too small.
onlysublime o
Both have compromisses. If you don‘t want make comprimes get the Surface Book 2.
Is it still worth it to get SP6 at this point?
Nah get the 7, or wait for the 8
Never have understood whats the point of touch screen on a laptop, it almost feels like they put it because they can, really theres no need to make your screen all dirty with finger oil and also makes the price higher
Love your content and style
I wish youtubers would look at the devices with the eyes of other users, like programmers or so...
Jazzman or the majority lol
Video editing or 3D modelling who the hell does that?
I do both for a hobby
me
Hey Daniel, give us a video about computers for editing, 3d modelling, etc.
Surprised the type cover not included in the price? Where have you been for the last 7 years?
The scuffing reminds me of the iPhone 5 situation. I wish it came in space gray to make scratches less noticeable
Which one of these two should i get
Surface pro, surface laptop, surface book, surface studio. Are there any more surfaces lol? Can't wait to get a surface book. I'm waiting for them to upgrade the hinge technology to something more efficient. And of course when I have the money to buy it cash without a sweat :D
It’s quite easy to find a used Laptop 2 on eBay under $600. Is there a reason they’re so cheap? If not I’m getting one!
I'd like to know how certain games handle on these. Games like Sims, Minecraft, even the Elder Scrolls. Nothing necessary for a hardcore gamer, just casual little games.
I can't do any of these on my surface pro 3 and I've been thinking about getting one of these. Just curious to see how these games would handle
TigerSaphire56 I think it will. This laptop can handle gta 5 on the lowest quality
Simple as that.
what are you talking about i can do 3d modeling in much less powerful cpus, just not rendering.
My gosh, i almost watch all surface reviews but still can't decide which one to buy, surface pro 7 or ipad pro😆
Can you do a proper review on the MS Go?
Which 1 is better for music production; MacBook Pro or Surface Laptop ?
MacBook Pro by a long shot
what about Adobe programs like Photoshop or Illustrator. are they good for graphic designers?
I am getting the surface pro 6 it is like a iPod mixed with a gaming computer it is the size of a iPod but a little bigger and it has as many gigabytes as a gaming computer if you get 8gb of ram and all together 128gb
idania burns 256gb
Hi Daniel,
I am Esha, by profession I am an Interior architect and designer, I've been searching for an ideal laptop since eons. I am looking for a product that helps in rendering, 3d modeling and video editing, sketching digitally and perform many other similar tasks. I am perplexed and I'm losing my mind as to which one to choose from... Please, help me!! I don't like heavy displays like alienware laptops, I want a mini display, I am comfortable with any price range.
Esha Pal you need to try surface book 2. A 13 inch i7 16gb RAM 512GB ssd would do. Let me know if you are still looking for buying one and i can share prices for enterprise devices.
Watching on the pro 6 :D
Love the typing experience on the surface
Ok good review, I didn't hear anything about iPad pro or MacBook which is what the typical iSheeps do.
What about the-accessories the cost of them and your recommendations .
Is the pro 6 suitable for games like the sims 4?
Can I record and edit UA-cam videos with the pro 6 cam?
How is the typing experience? I feel nervous about the key board being lifted up at an angle without a solid base
It feels stable when typing. It's quite a nice typing experience, surprising for an attachable type cover.
Surface pro 6 is better easily. Unless you use your laptop on your lap a lot in which case you need a proper base
I'm using a Dell laptop and if i could i deffinily Will go with the pro 6....but Even then i like more macs
can you code on surface pro , if yes ,which is better for coding (excluding the keyboards)
Surface laptop 2 can game if you get 16gb ram but that's *hardcore gaming* I plan to do low graphic gaming like *roblo* so I'm getting 8gb ram model
i like *roblo*
i once fucked a roblo
Khm, Microsoft makes hardware since 1995 under the Microsoft SideWinder brand (joysticks, gamepads and steering wheels). Now they just use the xbox branding for these.
Surface Go - iPad
Surface Pro - iPad Pro
Surface Laptop - Macbook Air
Surface Book - Macbook Pro
Surface Studio - iMac
you don't know what you talking about!!
This is a moronic comment.
Replace "-" with ">"
Surface products are all computers. Not expensive foldable tablets
Surface is basically for people that wants a windows 10 device that feels like a apple product.
I always wondered why apple has not made a 2 in 1 device yet.
Renamon46 iOS outsells their Macs so they want to milk their separate lines for all they can.
MacBooks are amazing I just prefer the windows experience
Very well said @@icemeoutlikeelsa. this exactly the truth. i was waiting for the MacBook air and then i was totally disappointed and will get the surface laptop 2
Apple still hasn’t found out how to make a touch screen laptop or 2 in 1. My opinion is that they want more money, “Buy a laptop and an ipad”
Nice! Not only in apple world! Congrats!
I'm gonna buy it for my bf's birthday! So I'm gonna start saving up my money.
SAK- SOON Can you be my girlfriend? 😂😂
iPad Pro 12.9 2018,Or surface pro 6, We need a VERSUS video for these !! @ZONEofTECH
Guys get surface all access for 25$ a month for 2 years and then get the surface laptop 2 bundle for 47$ a month. (This is so you dont have to spend 16 hundred dollars.
Does surface pro 6 have all access or runs on windows 10 s?
Cmon prices are a pretty important fact to cover
Bruh my dad does 3d modelling with his surface 3, what do you mean that you cant model with a surface pro 6, you can model though rendering will be quite slow. Hell I 3d model with my go when I'm in school but I use my desktop when I'm at home.
Hybrid thing for better battery life when you're just using light applications
Surface pro 6 of course...
Can I do light gaming on either of these?
I became a surface pro
you are who convinced me to buy
how can i get one note 2016?
Thanks very much
Unfortunately the touchpad on the surface pro six is way too small
It's a touchscreen. If you gonna do work you're better off with a mouse anyways.
