One thing people won't understand is that, these two CPU uses different architecture, one is desktop class design to run heavy and capable operating system and the other is ARM design to handle mobile operating system, they work differently, one is less tasking and the other is super high tasking. If Apple A12x CPU was that good, why didn't they use it at least on the New MacBook Air? , I bet you, macOS will cripple the A12X CPU cos that's a desktop class operating system, it has plenty of information to process compared to a mobile operating system. The iPad is a nice and capable machine that can handle any kind of mobile task which by itself, it's very limited. but trust me it cannot do more than that at least for now. Even the Photoshop that was demoed on stage during the iPad launch event had some minimal lag to it, even when it's a strip down version of the full Photoshop that runs on a true computer. At the end, the iPad pro is a powerful iPad that can only handle basic tasks. People talk about how u can edit 4k video on it, but the real question is, do this set of people truly uses the iPad pro to edit their 4k video all the time without the help of a computer? How convenient is it to really edit 4k video on an iPad? How does it handle plugins? How does it handle effect that even an Imac Pro struggle at times ? Please someone should correct me if am wrong.
good points, but apple is working on making their own chips for their laptops, plus your talk about pro apps and tasks is also right but desktop class apps are getting developed for the ipad, im not talking about photoshop, it's already made just not out yet, im talking about fpcx or logic pro or maybe other adobe apps and apps like affinity photo and designer, and adobe photoshop on the ipad is the full but its just made to look and feel better for touch.
FRED'S TECH HUB you're right most people just like to argue about everything you mentioned.
Someone who gets that you can't compare the scores because of the architectures!!!!
iOS *IS* macOS - and it has always been. It just hasn't all the desktop drivers and it has another UI. That's it. Watch Steve Jobs announcing the very first iPhone. He said it in plain English, but here we still are with the same old lame arguments ...
And BTW: macOS is UNIX. UNIX runs on *every* hardware. Two platforms my ass.
Look on Dom Esposito video. It easily edit 4k videos
I returned my iPad. I couldn't download 4K videos from my Google drive. Videos with large files 1GB or more it couldn't download it. Packed it up went to the genius bar at the Apple store they couldn't do it either. After 90 mnts I returned it and got a Surface book which works like a champ. The iPad is a toy that's what it is. You can't run real desktop software programs.
jennifergala sure your ipad is old ... this ipad pro is the future...i had ipad pro 10.5 and using mega apps, not just 4k video ...i also download a folder over 50gb and open it with microsoft apps support. And cannot wait for all editors apps will come in the future and then....i am not against window but window tablet is a joke that never ever work ... also , expensive as hell as compare to macbook. Same price on the surface go plus keyboard i can buy a fx504vm which run i5 8300h 8gb ddr4 gtx 1050 128gb ssd. At least macbook have macos sure worth it somehow. But surface...maybe surface laptop will worth a look
@@NamelessPassenger my iPad was the latest model and is a toy. Very happy with surface. If you want serious jobs done get a real computer
@@NamelessPassenger you see, IOS was never meant to be used as a computer os, it was born as a mobile interface, to be light and run fast on ARM based processors, like the ones found on both iphones and ipads, the geekbench score means shit, if that was actually true then the new ipad would also be faster than 90% of the new (and old) macbook lineup as well, which wouldn't make any sense, apple would have killed their own entire computer marketshare by releasing a product of their own, it is obvious that the ipad pro is nowhere near as powerful as a real computer, it is and will always be limited by its OS. IOS is still a mobile interface, giving it a big display and "powerful" hardware doesn't make up for a laptop replacement, what would have been cool is an ipad pro with good hardware specs running macOS, that i would consider buying. This is just a fancy big iphone, that does the same things as an iphone, plus dealing with some multiwindow stuff (with supported apps) which you can also do on all samsung devices and any android with the correct launcher, and has an overpriced keybaord, plus a stylus which steve jobs said he hated and never wanted any apple product to ever have one... i will stick to my laptop, with a real core i5, 12gb of ddr4 ram, an ssd, nvidia gpu and a 15" screen, but most importantly, a REAL keyboard.

These comparisons... agh. This is like comparing a MacBook to an iPad. If you want a laptop, get the laptop aka the surface pro. If you want a tablet, get the iPad.
digital artist here its easier to carry just one to work instead of laptop and tablet like i used to. so its good to compare which one is better all round
For artists this is a very relevant comparison, although unnecessary, what it boils down to is that the iPad lacks software support while the surface has a full desktop operating system on it, for better or for worse, so it comes down entirely to what each individual needs out of their mobile device and if the iPad has the software support to accomplish it.
Both are tablets... The surface pro isn't a laptop... It's comparable to one based on its internals but it's still a tablet. Laptops are the surface book or the surface laptop.
@NonyaBusiness! no its not at all. its still 2 motorcycles one is more comfortable and one is faster lets compare to see which one you might need.

Rohan George I don’t see anyone hating on Apple here, what are you talking about?
Rohan George Apple is good but I do agree that the surface pro 6 is better when it comes to intensive work. ( I mainly use it for animations and sketching )
you know who's watching this video? People like me who really want the iPad to be a pro device, but are coming to the realization that just as they feared, it's not a pro device. People will write "it will get there", but that's what was said when the first iPad Pro came out, and its not there. I really want it to be a pro device, but its just a powerful iPad at the moment with no guarantee of it becoming much else. That's a tough sell. If apple released some in-house Pro apps it may change my mind. It would be great to have a Logic Pro on the iPad Pro for example. It would be great if apple made a programming IDE on the iPad pro, as another example. Just some thoughts, but you get the idea.
It's a shame really. Personally I expect that this form will basically redefine what a laptop is. Why do I need a tablet, when I can get a similar-size laptop with all the form convenience and no file management limitations? Apple seems to have dropped the soap on the whole predicting the next big thing.
IDE on iPad ,yes, you have Pythonista.
you're probably aware of this now, but over the past couple of months shit got real haha
@@waynecake5867 show me the market share for python. In talking about java and c#, node perhaps. Its good theres an IDE for python, but most enterprises are not running python stacks. @@josiahhooker6941 how so? Like coronavirus or tablet capability?
This isn't a comparison! Can't compare a mobile operating system to a computer operating system. iPad isn't a real pro device.
Damon Mason not yet at least. The great thing about the A12X chip is that it’s future proof against later iOS updates that will expand the iPad’s versatility. So while it may not be a true pro device at the moment, it will as iOS evolves and as third party developers create pro apps that utilize the touchscreen interface.
If they are similarly priced and target the same audience, why not?
Angelo that may be the case. But until it's able to stand on it's own without 100% dependency on apps it won't really compete with this. Don't get me wrong I think it's by far the best for what it does. It's just not in the same league as the Surface. As someone who shoots photography and day trades. It's not just about transferring photos. It's more about being able to tether on this device, plugging in an external hard drive to a real file system and etc. I can't download trade software on this device and trade properly, no mouse support and etc. It has potential to be a true pro device which for the price it should be able to do all of these things. I'm sick of Apple almost being there but charging these ridiculous prices like they're there already.
@@Telest0 Someone who's looking at a surface really shouldn't even be considering an iPad. Because they're truly not the same thing. I have an iPad pro 10.5, a surface pro 6, a MacBook Pro and a iMac 27inch. And they're all completely different devices yet my surface can do everything both of my MACs can do. The iPad not so much
Damon Mason literally wrong from the beginning, ipad can , it just need adapter to make it work... second is , ipad is running on apps, same as on windows, the difference thing is you can access to files inside the apps on windows when ipad only access to the saving documents...rightnow yes, it is not a finish product to consider. Second, as someone who was a real pro they wont choose ipad or surface since surface cannot replace a laptop...first, it is not special, second, it is not strong...they will choose something like a real laptop or a pc. As the pro, they spend a lot of time and passion in their projects so with something is small, not accurate panel, wicked processors and low storage...surface only can focus to basic user like browsing and typing essays which is same as ipad right now...so it is a fair compare
whats the use of USB C if u can't connect an external HDD? Surface is the practical choice.
This video felt more like a review of the iPad than a comparison to the SP6
would have been nice if you compared the app availability/ quality for each system, and which is better for say photo editing, art, games, word processing (note taking); AS THIS IS the single most important buying point, as for many it's the APP which dictates the device, NOT the other way around :) .
He just did it by saying A12X is faster than 8th gen 4-cores i5 or i7.
Even Apple can't have courage to say that, it's the biggest lie in history

I am not trying be bias on Microsoft or Apple here. I have an Iphone X and have been using iphone since 3GS. I have an ipad pro 12.9' last year version that replaced my old ipad 4. But I also have a powerful self-built desktop PC, a laptop in Surface Book 2 and a Surface pro 2017. I love them all for their own specific purposes.
I laughed so bad when he says " it's safe to say" A12 is faster than i5/i7 base on one benchmark on two diff OS. When was your last time to see a tech channel compares a CPU from Intel running on Windows and a CPU from AMD running on Linux? Never! But somehow this video is doing completely the same thing but they never realized the problem. Intel CPUs are designed for desktop/laptop environment, while Apple A processors are designed for mobile iOS (but not Android) environment. It's like comparing a sport car to a semi-truck, even they are in exact the same price (which they are not). If ONE benchmark values speed, then the sport car wins. If another benchmark values towing capability, then the truck wins by miles. I dare you, if you can manage to install Windows or Android on ipad you'd get a completely different result.
And synthetic benchmark results are not the whole story of performance. Firstly, how much of each point of the benchmark mean anything in real life? A more direct question is how much difference is between ipad's 556653 and iphone's 352850? Two times faster in turning on the devices, Opening the Safari app or do FaceTime twice smoother? None of the number mean anything.
Secondly, benchmark vs real life app performance. Many of you have seen synthetic benchmark comparison for AMD and Nvidia GPUs. But their performance still vary a lot from game to game (ie. real life performance). Easy example: GTX 1080 vs. Vega 64 in synthetic and in different games.
The last, a simple question for you: Intel Core i9 18-core processors or AMD Threadripper would def give you even more impressive multi-core benchmark score. But does it mean they would be used in the device?
These people don't know anything about processors. I can tell for a fact that even snapdragon 845 is more powerful than that A12 bionic shit
shoaszx you are so full of shit. Both the A12X and Snapdragon use the same architecture and therefore CAN be directly compared by benchmarks and Apple is at least 2 years ahead of anyone else in terms of mobile processing, and soon Apple will use their chips in their computer because the performance per watt is destroying intel.
Second this nonsense of inaccurate benchmark scores is emphatically false. Geek bench does a set of several heavy duty tasks and calculates how long it takes to finish, this includes crypto, interger testing etc stop being uneducated and read yourself support.primatelabs.com/kb/geekbench/interpreting-geekbench-4-scores
@@hajjdawood on different opperating systems with different supporting hardware if you want correct benchmark scores you need a test bed where EVERYTHING is the same except for the processors or whatever component you're testing or else they are inaccurate representations.

I had been seriously considering which to choose out of the two of these -- Ended up going with the Surface Pro 6 and I've had no regrets and definitely feel like I chose the best device for my needs. I love how light it is. I love how I can connect a thumb drive and quickly access whatever files I need, and even connect it to a monitor and have a quick double monitor set up. Honestly, I wish I had made this decision sooner.
I will add that all of my other tech is Apple: my laptop, my watch, my phone, all Apple. But since this device is mostly for work, and for work I use Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook - whereas the iPad Pro might be faster or "better", this meets my needs best.
As a previous 12,9" iPad Pro owner I would choose the surface over a new iPad in a heartbeat, IF microsoft would finally reduce the bezels to keep the same formfactor but simply add a larger screen. This year Surface already feels outdated .. especially when you see them side by side, but Windows is that HUGE selling point, if you really want get work done without having to sit in front of a desk all the time.
mate get a laptop,
it's funny that a lot of people that doesn't recommend the 12.9 inch ipad complains that it is too heavy and they cant take notes onehanded for long periods of time because of it.
then we have the surface fanboys that rather have a 170 gram heavier laptop that can act as a tablet. it is neither good in either of the fields but they atleast have windows as a native operating system.
When making these comparisons, wise men ask...
Can it run Crysis?
I still dont get who the iPad Pro is suppose to appeal to? It doesn’t offer any pro tools, it’s basically just a high end iPad for media consumption.
As a photographer I need full Lightroom and full photoshop with a good pencil for frequency separation. Not those watered down mobile apps, they are completely worthless.

Both run the exact same calculations. Its just compiled for a different platform/architecture. So whats your point?
@@sociocritical The poin is that that the mobile chip A12X is not more powerfull than a desktop i7
I don't get why so many tech reviewers are giving the Apple Pencil credit for wireless charging, as opposed to the Surface Pen. The Surface Pen can last a year. There's no reason for it need a charging feature. The Apple Pencil dies in a matter of hours if you use it a lot. C'mon...

random question. what camera do you use for the face shots?
Due to the sd card slot and the ability to run pro apps I would go for the SP6 right now. I could see that changing in the future but iOS limits the IPad Pro. I also think the SP6 keyboard is leagues above the IPad and you can use a mouse. The IPad takes everything else though.

as for reading, writing, notes, powerpoints and a lot more. the iPad performs either equal or enhances it.
One of the things that I love most about my Surface Book, is the Surface Pen... and mostly because of the programmable button... I have it set to launch the sketch app, take a screenshot or play/pause media... and it is awesome for the last part when I plug my Surface to the TV and just take the pen as a "remote"...
I would love to have the recharge-ability of the Apple pencil, but in the past 2 years I am currently sitting at 60% of the third battery.... not very annoying.
One thing that he left out is that the tips of the Surface Pen are interchangeable so you can replace or use different styles.
Missing is mention of the thickness different with the keyboards and the weight differences, again with the keyboards. The iPad's published thickness is a white lie as it doesn't include the camera bump-out while the Surface camera is flush. Since you discussed the keyboards in detail you should have also mentioned the price differences
Dwig Gang - The camera bump is hardly even an issue. Takes up less than 1 percent of the surface area and doesn’t wobble given the vast size of the device. Quit nitpicking.
I am not agreed with you for your comparison of apple pencil. You should not consider it as only content creator.
I'm using both device. The hand writing capabilities limited in iPad Pro .
This is one the biggest disadvantage for its pencil. Hope they will not skeptical to sell keyboard and they will extend the pen usability.
A lot of power in the ipad pro but the lack of pro apps is kinda pointless to have one of this right now, hope this start to change...and also the "pro" idea in a tablet that can´t connect with a mouse or have a proper file mangment system for a "pro" device, right now is just a regular ipad with steroids in terms of productivity!!
cmnweb i do agree that the filing system of iOS is really crappy, but I disagree with the idea of the iPad getting a mouse/trackpad. If Apple adds a trackpad to the iPad, then it would just be a crappy laptop. With no mouse, the iPad is still a tablet and it should stay that way.
@@angelo_villones the can do just do like Samsung with their dex. Or a dual bootable switch ios to mac. Why would people want to carry 2 devices at once or staggered their work halfway (do on an ipad and continue on desktop/laptop)? I rather get a do-it-all device
It had file transactions, a lot, using mega apps, iCloud, using external drive through type c adapter. Open it with Microsoft apps or apple support. Removable batteries are much better in a pencil, because the sealded ones will die and your whole pencil is disposable, where as the year long battery in the surface simply gets removed and back to full functionality each year.

What camera and lens did you use for this review?
Greetings from Germany!
ive been looking through different videos and websites to get a good comparison between the two, your review has been the first to deliver just that. keep it up
For me, I'll be getting:
- Refurbished or NOS i7, 16gb RAM, at least 256Gb SSD 2017 Surface Pro (upgrade from Surface Pro 3 i5, 4Gb RAM) then
- 2018 iPad or refurbished 1st gen iPad Pro with Logitech crayon (upgrade from iPad 2 where the home button doesn't work properly)
(Update) Just found out that the logitech crayon doesn't have pressure sensitivity so it seems like I'm gonna be stuck with apple pencil.
Better value for money and what I'm planning to get as soon as I get some extra $$$. I'm a tech enthusiast and only buy used or refurbished devices normally from spoiled teenagers where they 'need' to get the latest stuff from daddy or mommy.
One big oversight in this video. During the pros and cons section, it should be mentioned that the base model Surface Pro comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the iPad Pro comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. So the iPad may have a type of processor that beats most laptops in speed, but its base model doesn't have the RAM or storage to qualify for modern-day laptop usage, while the Surface Pro does.
Otherwise, great comparison.
Kev Lew so why not spend less and use ... a laptop that isn’t much bigger?
I don't think you emphasize the file system (or the lack of it) enough. Easy sorting and transferring files in a professional work is very important. I won't say that either is better overall, I just think that these two are not the same category of devices.
So should I buy the iPad Pro or the surface pro 6? I will be using it to take it with me to study and make notes on. Also, I will need it for CAD such as solidworks. So what is best for me to buy?
Expandable memory on the Surface pro.
Is also a plus.
The reason why this comparison exists is because both the Surface Pro and the iPad Pro are trying to be the same thing; a functional two-in-one.
Personally though, between the two, despite the fact that they're still tablets, the Surface Pro takes the cake for me. Operating system, it can use an external file storage, the like...if the iPad Pro could do all that, then I'd definitely consider it. But as it is right now...it just feels like a bigger iPhone X, to me.
this is the most APPLEish review I have ever seen HAHAHAHA you are real fun
here's a point you guys are missing: once you get MSOS, you have to pay huge amount of money everymonth to Adobe and MS. there is no alternative competitor of same quality. when you get iOS, there are tons of applications in perfect quality which are only $10~$20 including free lifetime updates.
This comment definitely helped me decide! Thank you!
Why in the world do you have to pay them every month?

I am a Apple guy with iPhones, MacBooks and iPads. Apples strong point is their eco system, but lately, the last 6 years they have stalled.
I have the iPad Pro 12.9 2018, but I will move to the surface next time, and here’s why.
The iPad cannot replace your laptop. iPad does not seem to have many Pro apps, it’s still using a mobile Safari, despite the power of the Pro.....
There needs to be a new OS or it needs to grow up to allow better files sharing, cross platform apps, mouse support and better multi tasking.
The iPad at the moment is a glorified media consumption tool, not a Professional tool.
Surface is more versatile by far, the Surface can do everything the iPad can, and more. iPad Pro in name only, speed and size does not justify the name.
The i5-model Surface Pro is also 4-core, 8-thead, not dual core..
Exactly when I heard him say that it was dual-core, I'm like excuse me how do you not know what it is you are reviewing. It having four-cores is the is the big upgrade this generation
A tablet does not have to replace a laptop and a laptop does not have to replace a desktop-computer. Those are different categories with their own pros and cons in regard to functionality. I appreciate all of those device classes and use them in respect to their purpose.
Apple should stop recommending iPad as laptop replacement. It is just as useless or more useless as Android tablet for productivity.
Angus 😂
@Trung Dinh you destroy this lad with a single line " I'm an architect" hahaha nice bro and you are right I love tech , I love every OS out there I'm not married to any company. But have to be said when something doesn't fullfil the necessities of the users. Ipads are the best devices for mobile entertainment, browse the web , study , read. They are very light and thin. Now surface is the best for productivity, no other device can compete with Microsoft at the moment in terms of productivity and also gaming. Is so versatile that is really difficult to find a really good competitor for this type of device. Android tablets well very disappointing. Tho in phones they are currently out selling the iPhones , they are offering more and the price range isn't as crazy high as those iPhone xs.
@Trung Dinh The ipad is rilly nice for sketching, but if you whant to rilly paint profecionaly, cintiq all the whay.
Rob Ch. I don’t even like it for entertainment...
Web browsing can even be a nightmare for the iPad depending on if someone is still relying on flash vs HTML5and it’s more common than you think.
Since there isn’t a big push for html anymore I’m just anti ARM based devices altogether. Until there is a universal standard across the web... to hell with the iPad
Great review! Just another point about the iPAD PRO. The USBC is limited in connectivity options. I know what I will do for my next purchase now.
Ipad in a nutshell is just a bigger phone with the same functions
You forgot about the 120hz display. I understand the comparison, even apple is directly comparing the iPad to laptops. Still, most people won't be able to replace their laptop with an iPad, the OS isn't there yet.
The surface pro has a BETTER processor than the latest 13 inch macbook pro. You can tell throughout this entire video this reviewer is extremely biased, I own both and let me tell you this, the surface pro outshines the ipad pro in every aspects except its slightly thicker. You can even game with addition of dual booting android or using bluestacks on the surface pro. Also keyboard links much easier and its definitely more durable than the ipad pro
Barttoocool I agree
That is probably one of the most objective comparisons I have ever seen on the Internet congrats for your work. I went for the iPad Pro 2018 but I could have easily ended up withthe surface pro 6. Amazing devices both for portability..
Wish someone would do a real comparison. Like using them to create a PowerPoint, or something to really compare how using them as your daily mobile work unit compares.
My 2.5 year’s old surface officially died yesterday, and my iPad Air 2 that I bought 4 years ago is still running like a beast.
mine too
wtf! you are missing wireless charging on surface pen? it lasts for 1 year!
Good review. Did you add the extra keyboard price for the iPad?
Im pretty sure neither of them come with a keyboard
game arena ....Neither does the surface
i think both are really good, but i will prefer the surface pro for a more PC like experience
If i want laptop experience why would I go for surface pro?
No comment on the new Face ID?
CescoCDN it is Camera,he counts it as camera
Nobody cares about that.
@@exisTxD Its a true depth camera, no other devices have that
Honestly don’t know why Face ID is a big selling point. It’s literally a way to unlock your device... like selling a new type of door knob
One Thou Wou Is it a true depth camera that DOESNT unlock when someone holds a photo of you to it?
iPad is a overpower and expensive tablet, that is not a laptop like Surface Pro.
The surface pro has always felt to me like it is stuck between being a less capable laptop and a tablet. The iPad is definitely the one to get if you want a real tablet. Just buy a laptop if you want the surface pro.
So it's better having 2 devices than one?
Nathan yep if your livelihood depends on good productivity and the fastest workflow, have the best tablet and best laptop and the best of both worlds. Carrying two devices if it improves your work is a small price to pay. Compromising as it is too much hassle to carry the two is not professional. The Surface sucks as a tablet and is poor on your lap so I have never got the SP vibe. The iPad is the best tablet by a distance but just not ready for work for most as it currently stands. I use an iPad Pro and MacBook Pro and use them 50:50, replying to emails and messages, doing quick notes or reports, the iPad is easy to use than wasting the i7 laptop. I should make my laptop last a lot longer by spreading the work load. The Mac for heavier loads. Works for me and as it is my living the extra cost pays for itself.
I think the surface pro is a real niche product, it tries to be a laptop and a tablet and does not succeed in any of those categories. The iPad is a better tablet, and for most people who want a tablet its the better choice. If you want a laptop with some of the features of a tablet (like better media consumption) a 2 in 1 is almost every time the better choice
I've seen many prefer the surface pro over most laptops
I have had the surface pro for 3 years it's the same specs as a laptop same experience as a laptop. It's capable of the programming i am doing. It mostly is a laptop first tablet second.
I educated myself on iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro before I even read this comment section. I ended up buying both. One CANNOT really replace other.
Educate yourself before making assumptions here.
Both are really great devices. iPad Pro is for aspiring digital artists or entertainment. Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is for work or full software users. I had to get both!
Poor guys make choose, the rich get both.
This is the most fair ipad vs surface comparison on the entire web. facts.
"A12X faster than any of the iterations of INTEL X86 CPU" INSTANT DISLIKE ... what the hell are you comparing. what kind of joke is this? do you know something about cpu architectures ?? WHAT THE HELL !!!!!
He is talking about benchmarks like many people who don't know difference between arm instruction set and x86 instruction set and architecture says
A12x is beating 80 % windows pc .......arm revolution !!!
So the processor on Apple is realllllly fast. But it doesnt give you the full functionality that full programs give due to it using apps. imo. Which kind of negates having a super fast archeticture. UNLESS, they plan to do a really nice update at some point, therefore the processor would techinically make it "future proof" and ready for some good evolution into a fuller OS, with full functionality to programs.
@@rohit-gk5lr even then I wonder why doesn't iPad have the functionality of a PC. I mean no trackpads. That software. They could have made it dual boot with Mac OS or something for actual work. Right now it's an overpowered Netflix machine.
Like having a 5000$ gaming PC and playing GTA VC on it
If iPad became laptop what's the point of having MacBook air???......
The really huge problem of arm is that it has no fan. You can make the a12x run really strong, but for a short period of time, system will lower the clock speed after the cpu is overheat
The i pad is basically a foldable overpowered but good looking tablet
Why are you using an older type of Surface Pen? The V4 doesnt have the clip on the side. You are using the V3 in the video which is actually pretty old.
plz do more comparison on use experience , not just simple
comparing
Exterior or hardware difference!
Not sure why you would compare these two products. Surely they are aimed at different markets.
iPad for consuming stuff and is not a PC (Which is why they try to sell laptops)
Surface Pro for productivity and consuming stuff.
In my view, if you only want one device then the Surface is the only option here. If you just want to consume media then the iPad might have the edge. Both are well built, excellent, albeit expensive, products. If i wanted a productivity device and a consuming device then i'd have the Surface and an Android tablet...
The reason they ‘also try to sell laptops’, is not because the iPad Pro is not capable of doing ‘real work’, because it is (of course depending on what you define as real work, but the average document typing for college/uni is fine, as well as notebook taking, diagram drawing etc.) The reason they also sell a laptop is because these two products are fundamentally different, and Apple believes by combining them, you don’t get the best product. What exactly is the Surface Pro trying to do? Because as a laptop, it’s definitely not as good as a real laptop, and as a tablet, it can’t compare to the iPad because it’s OS is PC software and is reliant on a mouse. So you get this product in the middle where both sides have been compromised.
iPad = smartphone in disguise
Surface = keyboardless laptop
There you go
No
"keyboardless laptop"? Just because the keyboard is optional doesn't make it keyboardless. You would be foolish to not buy the keyboard for the Surface.
cl why?, this is what hardcore nonsensical fans always do, buy what I like or otherwise you’re stupid, as an artist the iPad is a way better tool for me than the surface, and if I have to use a laptop I would use a real laptop with a real gpu, but those are my needs, also windows is still unstable as hell. And I do own a pc...
@@iu2 you missed the point. He is saying that the surface isn't really a tablet it's just a laptop without its keyboard because it's pretty bad as a tablet
Specs are nice to discuss but what about the uses, software and/or applications. That's really where the rubber meets the road
As people are saying, the comparison of tablet vs laptop would not make sense.... IF iPad Pro was sold for tablet money.
With how much the iPad Pro costs, it is reeeeeally close to Surface Pro money, yet iPad Pro only gives mobile tablet experience.
Also, Apple itself markets the iPad Pro as a laptop replacement, so people here arguing that the comparison is not fair does not make sense if you look at iPad Pro's price and marketing.
Oh, plus it is not a lie that Surface Pro is also a tablet, because it is.
Well I think most people disregard Apples comments about it being a laptop replacement, like a child saying I’m the fastest man in the world. So really it is comparing a tablet to a laptop, otherwise the video would be about criticizing apple for calling it a laptop.
But the surface pro is not marketed as a laptop. The surface BOOK is. The surface Pro is a tablet with laptop hardware inside. If you want to compare the ipad pro to a laptop, it will fare even worse comparing it to the surface book which actually is a laptop.
The surface pro is a tablet with some laptop functionality, which is what Apple is marketing their ipad pro as.
@@RealHankShill Uh... I never said that Surface Pro is marketed like that. I said iPad Pro is the one that is marketed as a laptop replacement. Apple certainly does not say "iPad Pro is a tablet with some laptop functionality". Apple wants it to be a laptop replacement. If you don't believe me, look up iPad Pro Superball commercial, and watch Apple's iPad Pro reveal keynotes. Also, Surface Pro has full Windows 10 OS capable of doing what a normal laptop can do. iPad does not. If iPad starts shipping with MacOS, then I will think again.
I like my Surface as a Handy secondary laptop. I dont own a Desktop PC. one time my main laptop needed to be repaired I had to use my surface for 1-2 weeks. It performed well as a main PC. I would have been in trouble if I had an IPad as a secondary PC instead
I think you overlooked the surface pro's superior multitasking, file management, mouse cursor, and usb drive connectivity.
Windows is the most capable system in the world! Carefull with the information!
how so? what operating system is more capable and versatile ?
lmao right? sounds like he hasn't used uBuntu or Linux
My face is the antidote you don’t have to build Linux. You install it. I’ve done it on every PC I’ve owned and so have many of my friends. Windows is trash 🗑
Taseen Jubair you’re assuming everyone plays games and creates content. Lol. IF they do, they can just dual boot windows.
@@solosoulet an open source OS is much more capable, and much more stable, and of course used by nasa! So capabilities on windows are limitided as on ios
Mac OS mode would be nice..imagine if you could go to the App Store and download Mac OS.it could be an app on your home screen that you go into when you want to use a mouse..you could just leave the app when you want to use touch
"Both PCs have pretty powerful internal capabilities" PCs lol
you forgot to mention that the ipad pro does not come with it's keyboard. It costs an extra $200. The surface keyboard is included.
How to fix the iPad Pro: replace iOS with MacOS
Cyclone Storm no please don't
This would be the most STUPID idea. Seriously.
iPad OS is coming.
Do you really want to kill iPad's claim of being fast? iPad will sturggle to perform, maybe like less than 25% of macbook air performance.
Nice Mesa in the background. Looks like a single rec?
As an engineering student. Dont get IOS its a pain to get all the programs you will need in classes.
lmao ofc this is for creative professionals not for people like you. for drawing and such the ipad wins hands down
@@breadone_ I actually have this computer and it works really well for professional engineering software.
It's worth pointing out with the surface pen is the other end of the pen can be used as an eraser. Why did you give "points" to the iPad for it's 5 mics when there isn't a reason to have them?
but can ipad run *Programs, full programs* no million apps?
I was wondering this and I dont think so. Like the Microsoft office seem Really good, (I should preface by saying I just bought the Ipad for school. Just the regular one tho. but its apps) - The ipad is really really nice for reading I must say. i gotta try the pen more but I remeber really liking my surface pro 4 pen. That being said, it writes pretty damn good for 460$. I notice just a slight pen upgrade with the surface and the ipad pro, nothing that would really be make or break. Definetly can still do some great notes. But, I just feel having FULL functionality of every program is to useful once you learn how to use them. Id say the ipad is good for a non techy person to have office functions. So far for notes on the ipad I have to at least spend 17% for a solid note taking program, that being said I have not extensively tested "Pages" that comes with the Apple. But I the reviews seem to say "Good Notes" is a solid purchase.
I also did get the detachable usb keyboard, logi case for the Ipad, and I must say I can be picky but it is nice. That being said, my computer gives different selections for my online university portal than the ipad, which worries me because I dont want to miss any assignments from that.
@@akadopeboi good choice!
Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC is comming, Affinity Photo, Lumafusion..... So yes it does.
@@MilatovichFamily I meant full programs;
Can surface run them with its crappy hardware? It lags in anything related to 3d and even some brushes in photoshop can make it lag
Can I use it being kept plug in to the power supply like other conventional laptop? will it cause any damage to the battery of the device?
The Surface Pro 6 is running Windows 10, the iPad is running iOS. Done deal for me.
K Nn what kind of deals you making?
You forgot the dock connector of the Surface Pro. And this dock comes in very handy at home/at work - connecting a (large) display to the device and being able to connect e.g. multiple disks to handle large amounts of data is more than a nice option sometimes. I had all iPad versions up to the first (large) iPad Pro, but switched to the Surface Pro in the end (only an iPad Mini left for "consumption" and navigation). While the iPad Pro is the nicer hardware and better touch experience, the Surface Pro is suitable for professional work in nearly every area (while the iPad is only capable in some areas).
Couldnt agree more
surface is laptop with desktop os and ipad is tablet with ios (basically a Iphone.) how can we compare them?
I didn’t hear him say anything about the fact that you can get a wireless plan with the iPad and not with the surface pro. So your dependent on WiFi with the surface pro for internet.
You compare a Toy-OS (iOS) System with a Windows-System? Really?
you compare a shitty laptop to a tablet, really? :D
@@lolsa123 shitty? The customer reviews say otherwise
@@ajf5745 lol impressive, ironically enough so they say about Apple products too.

NO ONE uses an iPad like this - doesn’t matter how fast the chip is or how many MP camera has.
So you can't write docs and make presentations on an iPad?
More capable = surface pro
More convenient = ipad pro

I love pretty much everything about my 5th gen Surface Pro except for its battery. I'm only getting like 3-4 hours of battery by just doing nothing. I have Outlook, Word, and Firefox open and do nothing, and the battery drains extremely fast. I might just have a defective device. Everything else is great though.
Ipad Pro = Is an oversize iPhone
Surface Pro = Is a gimmicky laptop
Try working with two complex Excel files at the same time on you shiny new iPad Pro, say you want to copy numbers from file A to file B.
It won’t work.
a) you can’t open two excel files in Excel on your iPad at the same time and
b) Apple‘s Numbers doesn’t have the necessary functionality.
I really wanted it to work, because I wanted to work with the iPad Pro. Even Apple support couldn’t help. So long, iPad Pro... farewell
