@@ChrisfromKeyfarm I'll say Chris, thank you for liking my comment on your vehicle with a 5 ft tractor tires. Have you ever tried taking off right away? And that thing pops a wheelie in the whole front end lifts up. I bet you could take care. Thank you.
My first thought when I clicked on this (well, besides "hell yeah!") was, "how did he gear that?" My very first actual (like from a pile of random parts) build, I took the frame from a 70s minibike trike with a fiberglass seat and fenders- paired that with a 212 predator, a front end off of a 900cc street bike, and swapped the minibike/4wheeler tires for standard ford road tires. Now, my problem was that i used a plain old, off ebay torque converter (cvt thingy). I just couldn't figure out why I was burning up drive belts! lol. It worked, titled as a moped and drove around at 35 mph all over. But, looking back, I feel pretty silly about the gearing/tire combo lol. Good job man! You made what most people would think was impossible at first glance work!
That ticking sound as you get moving sounds like it’s coming from the drum brakes hitting the rim you welded together. I’d almost put money on it the initial acceleration causes the rim to flex up and cause the ticking.
The way the rear diff was tilted, really didn't have a terrible angle, the middle joint was bad but it still sounded like it was coming from the drum , I'm not sure and now it's already built into the new version.
I wonder if you’d get better performance with a cvt set up bolted on the engine, like the 780 series, got to love more power and speed, great project btw right up my alley
Possibly, but the price of a 780 torque converter is way to much for this small channel. It would take 115,000 views just to pay for the 780. Not to mention all the other components. Maybe someday, but not now.
With a suspension in the rear to allow for some articulation and a couple days spent removing about 60lbs of rubber from each rear tire it could probably get around really well off road
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm I’m not so sure on that one. Easy enough to prove your theory. Since the rears are not functional just remove the drums and put the tires back on and drive it see if the ping is still there like I think or if it goes away like you think. 300 ft pounds of torque is way more than stock. Be careful in fifth its over drive and the weakest gear and you could break it with all that reduction (9 to 1). I like the axle over the frame so it sits level and i really liked last video with two clutches. too bad it wouldnt all fit with your jack shaft and double reduction. If its capable of starting off in third then it should pull like mule in first!
