Brandon thanks for the review!!! Just got a great deal on a Gl2, my question now, is there a specific SD card that this camcorder use or it can be any SD card?
What’s your recommended camera for a person that wants to record home videos of there family in a 90s early 2000s style without having too shitty of quality
Hmmm I would pick a Sony trv model like the Sony trv65 or the trv62. There are a lot of trv models so I would just look around. I just have had the best experience with those ones.
I also have the GL2, and captured a lot of good videos with it. However, I'm having a hard time transfering my videos to my computer since FireWire connections are not on recent computers. Do you transfer your videos using the ordinary s-video and audio jack, or do you use the FireWire ?
I use FireWire now my friend showed me a method you can do with a vcr/dvd player. I made a video on it I’ll leave a link so you can see what I’m talking about. Capturing VHS, HI8, or Mini DV Videos With A VCR/DVD Player - The Easy Way ua-cam.com/video/G3Yju9TZAN4/v-deo.html
Yeah when you look in the screen you don’t really see it but once you capture the footage it’s more present. So yes use the spacer ring works for the vignette
Hey Brandon! Just got a working Canon GL2 and im having a problem with the mini DV tapes being "unwinded" after I insert it into the deck. Also am getting a eject tape error as soon as the tape is in there. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it?
I think a lot of gl2’s have that issues. I would start with cleaning the tape heads a lot of the time the camera can’t read the tape and will tell you to eject it. You can also try a new unused tape to see if it will accept it
@@brandoncameracollection thanks for the feedback. but I think the camcorder itself is taking the tapes and unwinding it inside the deck to the point where the actual tape is sticking out of the mini dv cassette, seems like its a mechanical issue
When im using a clearclick on my camera, after about 10 min, the camera put up details about the camera, like the battery info, what type of device im using, etc. How do i get that off.
@@brandoncameracollection it worked, thanks a mill! I know your probably tired of hearing from me 🤣. But i had a good idea. Would you be able to ask clearclick to make an analog cable/svideo cable that connects perfectly to their devide but instead of all the cables going straight out, have them connect and go to the side for a low profile look, and shorter. That way connections dont stick and cables dont stick out for people that want to go tapeless.
Yeah I know a lot of skaters use the Panasonic HVX200 or the HPX170 but they do take P2 cards. Not sure if you would need a p2 card reader or if you can just plug the camera in to your computer
Ive been using the clearclick on old cameras videoing, then review some of the footage and theres a glitchyness that happeneds on the right side of the screen ever few seconds. Could this be the camera or clearclick. I used rca cables and Svideo to fic but its still the same
@@brandoncameracollection bruh, its tapeless. Lol i reviewd some footage on a tv instead of the clearclick and the footage on the tv played just fine. So its the playback just on the clearclick.
I have an old Sony Video 8 Handy cam which takes Panasonic SP120 cassette tapes. It works with the battery adapter I have but in order to film it has to be plugged into a wall. I’m trying to find batteries for it on Amazon but I’m having a hard time. Do you have anything I can search for that’s compatible?
As long as it works. If it’s in tested or has something wrong most of the time the tape heads are just dirty. Which you can use a cleaning tape or use the method I use. I have a video on my channel for it. And sometimes you might need a a battery and or charger for it which you can find on Amazon as well
CR 2025 battery for keeping date and time
make sure to grab a spacer ring 58mm with the fisheye if you want the vignetting Brandons got! and turn off that image stabilizer too.
This footage convinced me to pick up the camera, got one on Goodwill Auctions for only $80 (including shipping). Also those dogs are so adorable.
Yeah you can usually get gl2’s at really good prices. And yes they are the stars of my test footage 😂
MY BABY !
Brandon thanks for the review!!!

You have to use a multi media card. And you can only take pictures to the cards not video. You have film video to the tape
@@brandoncameracollection make since! Well let’s get that tapeless built started
I think this one next one my list
Definitely it’s a cool camcorder and they don’t cost too much

Do you know if the output resolution when capturing video can go up to 1080 ou 720 ?
No this camera is only 480p
my camera just started about 2 days ago making noise where is that coming from how to fix will a tape cleaner work
What kind of noise is it making?
Yo did you find that one 58mm spacer was enough to get some of that vignette to show?

That should be the demo mode you gotta turn off

There should be some phone holder that swivel an you would be able to turn the clearclick sideways if you wanted like this one amzn.to/3H6zUHi
@@brandoncameracollection i have a phone holder. I was talking about the analog inputs
and what is the difference between the gl2 and the xm2 because I bought it a month ago in the Netherlands for 60 euros
They are the same camera just the xm2 is the pal version or the European version. Same camera just a different name
I got one of these for my birthday back in 2018 I need to repair the censor I think because it display some purple on the screen
Weird I got my gl1 in 2018 as well haha
i have a question where can I get charger for these canon GL2& GL1
The canon gl1 and gl2 take the same battery and charger so this charger will work for both: amzn.to/3Ogo0yq
Can you record video directly to the SD card ?
No unfortunately only pictures
My question is, can I use this camera for live streaming?
I do believe you could
Do you know any tapeless cameras that gives the same 90s look?

I just did some research on them (mostly the hvx200) and I was hoping you could give me an option more smaller? Sorry if this is bothering you lmao
Well to be honest they don’t really look very 90s once you get to sd cards but you can always do some form of a filter when you are editing
@@brandoncameracollection okay, thank you so much for being so patient😅
@@brandoncameracollection but do you also have some way less expensive fish eye lenses that are compatible with the gl2
