I’m a Coda (child of deaf adults) and Harbor’s the perfect age to learn more signs. He will be able to communicate a lot sooner while his language skills develop/increase . It helps both of you and Harbor with the frustration of not knowing what he needs/wants. I did it before it was a “trendy” so they could sign to my deaf parents and now my kids (26, 25 and 22) are fluent in ASL You’re doing a wonderful job with Harbor and he’s such a sweet and happy cutie pie! Love the curtain bangs! My daughter cut her own too and they look great. Hope you have a lovely wknd! 🤟🏼💕🌷🌻🌸
I'm a little confused- is he deaf? Because they do talk to him a lot like they are expecting a reaction, so I don't know if he is deaf or if they just also want to teach him sign language.
For getting him to not do things you don't want him to do its good to give him another option thay uses the same or similar motions. A lot of kids will shake lamps if they want to use their arms or hear the clacking sound if your lamp does that so you could say "we don't shake lamps but we can shake (rattles or sticks or whatever you want him to shake)" then show him the other options. You also have to be super consistent with it for a whole for it to work well because he is learning what you mean and his memory isn't great but it will eventually switch to his go to shaking option!
@@alextaylor13095 yes exactly! That's what my year if early childhood development and education classes have taught me and it works really really well! Also the book how to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk is fantastic and has a lot of good techniques!!

Yay Harbor! My 13 month old girl is 28 lbs and and 32 inches 😬. Not surprising given that both of her parents are giants. So glad to be on this journey with you both 💙
I did 1 min time outs when my toddler was 1 but at that age I only used it for hitting or if she was doing something unsafe such as the lamp situation also use a sterner tone for discipline don't yell but just a sterner tone and get on his level and maintain eye contact with him when correcting him. My toddler is now 23 months. And I'm gonna start potty training next weekend actually but it's different for every family and child
Just go with the flow. I am on my third kid and they’re all so different but they get to things when they are ready. You guys are doing great. Just keep going how you are.
If anyones baby is behind on crawling or walking ask your doctor what to do but don’t be that worried . I was very behind for walking and crawling. My parents got me therapy but It didn’t do anything. I walked when I wanted too and now they can’t get me too stop. I run cross country and do sports year round.
I just found you ladies.... I've been binge watching your videos since you were married.... You both are so cute.... Harbor is beautiful... Can't wait for more videos....
Awww loved this video. Hopefully there is someone in the neighborhood that is taking care of the cats. If they have a clip on their left ear it means they are fixed. Prayers they are all fixed so the cat problem doesn't get crazy.
OMG HE’S SO CUTE!!!! Aw I’m so blown away that he’s already a year old! I remember being anxious for months to get to know him when you were pregnant Abbie!
My 9 month old is 22 pounds 😊 he had a hard time gaining weight too while nursing but has been doing fine since we switched to formula. It's been so fun watching yall and having a baby close in age 💚
Every child is different in every milestone. My oldest was almost potty trained at one until we started moving around too much and so it took until he was almost 3. My younger son was a little over 2 for the same reasons and my daughter was fully potty trained at 1 with no accidents. Don’t worry too much by what people say, each child learns at their own pace. Although I’d recommend not having two in diapers if possible cuz that’s horrible in my own opinion/experience but to each their own, ya know. You ladies are doing a great job so keep it up. You only learn as you go. Much love 💗
I just heard a couple talk about how they potty trained their 10 month old so some people do it really young. It depends on the family and child though. I would say start slow. Maybe get him a potty and just have it in his bathroom, let him get used to the sight of it. Have him sit on it when u go maybe. When I worked at a daycare we started potty training at 2 to 2 and half. Some parents chose to do it earlier. And something I would recommend with potty training a boy is get a normal baby potty and a baby urinal. He might not use the urinal until he’s used to the potty but it helps him not to be so scared using the mens bathroom when he starts school.
I started my oldest son almost 3 and it's easiest over the summer. We'll start out next little boy at the same time and he'll be 2 and a half. Hope that helps. No rush, it takes time and i think it took about 6 months to completely toilet train. Boys have smaller bladders and it takes a while
This was so interesting to watch as my little one is approaching his first birthday (in 2 weeks) 🥺😭😢 He is 76.5cm and 20lb (he’s a tall boy). Love your videos 😊 your little honey guy is soooo adorable! X
I've had 6 kids all natural. My first kid was potty trained at 81/2 months and the other 5 were were all trained before they were 1 year old !! No lie they all were so easy to train !! I was so glad 😊
Ripple makes a plant based milk for kids that is fortified with DHA and other nutrients for youngins. We use it and it works well for our baby. Whole milk is the tried and true, so that works. But for those of you who have babies with dairy allergies or if you are vegan and want another option, Ripple bbygurl.
My 13 month old is 19lbs and 28.5 inches! She also loves to get into everything so we just try and redirect her to something else and it’s worked great.
I have two little ones right now and my son just now is officially potty trained and he is 2 years and 4 months old. I bought his first undies at a year and a half and started introducing him to potty training but never forced it. He really just picked it up on his own by seeing and encouraging him by praising him after going potty. I personally didn’t use pull ups because he would just use it so for the first two days he would be completely naked and the third day I clothed him and now he’s officially potty training. I definitely think the three day method works. My daughter is a month older then your honey guy and I plan on doing the same thing with her.
Tips on the "naughty things"..try not to say no. It's easy to learn and repeat. Instead try telling him why he can't do said thing and what he should do instead. Example: "we don't draw on the walls, the walls are meant to keep us safe. If you want to draw I can get you some paper and we can color together" he has to understand that what he's doing isn't okay and not that a fun phase like "no no" comes with it. Cause and effect. Children his age are grasping the concept of cause and effect. What happens when I do this, repeat. Best of luck, you're doing great ❤❤
My son actually shares a birthday with harbor ! I'm not sure how tall my son is but he is in the 15th percentile so he's a little guy lol he weighs almost 19 pounds now. Love your videos ❤❤
Hi! Early childhood educator here! Just wanted to validate everything you said today. Yes. A child does not know right from wrong until they are about two three years old… Until then all you can do is teach them what is right… And to distract them with other things when they are doing something wrong. Potty training should start when they show interest… Signs are, playing with their diapers, taking off their diapers on their own. ET see. Good luck! Feel free to ask questions!
I have a "honeygirl", thats what we call her so I was so surprised when I started watching your videos all the time and heard that's what you call Harbor! She is 13 months old and she weighs 17 lbs 5 oz and is 27 inches (2ft 3 in). You guys are so awesome and Harbor is so frickin cute!
First love your hair and my little boy is tall for his age cause of my husband so he is 3"3' at 3years old and gets into everything. So look forward to the climbing phase where you randomly find your toddler high up in the pantry
We talk through everything when we need to redirect. Like “No thank you. It’s not safe to open this cabinet. Let’s open this box toy instead!” Also a good sign to start thinking about potty training is when they are staying dry more often during naps.
My son was 2 3 months old, when we started to potty train him.. And he was 6 months old when we took him off his bottle and started him on a sippy cup.. (With formula).. Lol Believe it or not it works.. When our son got hurt we would basically act like fools.. One day our son was shaking off his leg.. And he looked up at us and said it not working.. Hurt.. I felt so bad... If your trying to stop bottles or pacifiers at night.. Of course take them out of the bedroom and have him throw them out and say goodbye to them.. But it still may not work.. If it doesn't you can't go back and give him one... Only because he'll associate him crying to getting what he wants and he'll throw fits when he wants, something.. Instead of asking for it... Just a tip or suggestion.. good luck!!
For the parents that are* worried, they know their kids best and milestones always have wiggle room but, if you're worried, it's always better to visit Early Intervention for an evaluation, like Speech Pathologists or Occupational Therapists instead of just going by what the pediatrician says. They're not always the best for other areas of development. Late talkers are a good example. It's better to act quickly and help them reach the milestones because most kids who get Early Intervention do really really well and won't need help later on. It should be free according to federal law. Also, speech therapy is fun lol They''ll learn a lot
