- Comicbook.com's Brandon Davis got to sit down with the stars of HBO's new Game Of Throne's prequel, House Of The Dragon, and while talking with Matt Smith and Paddy Considine, the two Targaryen brothers fighting for the throne in the new series, the subject of how their characters would have felt about Daenerys' actions in the final season of game of thrones came up...and their answer was that they would be "Disappointed".
While a lot of fans were disappointed with Daenerys storyline in the final season of Game Of Thrones, the stars said as Targaryens they were more disappointed that Danny seemed to have had her coin flip land on greatness, only to give in to madness at the end.

These are only the actors but I cried when they said they would have done something for Daenerys to help her. See, all my sweet Dany needed was a family member to take her home 😭
Everytime she got to have something it was always taken away so quickly no matter how much she tried to protect them. She had nothing to getting something to losing everything all at once and at the end she died a worse death than her father. By betrayal, not stab by the back but in front of her, in her very heart

And Paddy said "that is the prophecy isn't it". I think he accidentally blurted out a spoiler. So they are setting up a prophecy that a Targaryen is going to be destructive or a dragon is going to being destruction.

the reason why Dany's plot comes out jarring is that the showrunners never understood the Meereen plot. the whole point of Meereen in the books is that Dany does almost everything right and yet things fall apart through no fault of her own. The harpies in the books are coming accept Dany, and then you get the poison locust incident, where Barristan suspects Hizhdar of foul-play. Barristan playing the game of thrones basically ruined Dany's chance for peace. If the book ever comes out, which it won't, the point of Dany's "madness" is that no matter what she does, it always ends in fire and blood, and not because oh no Missandei.
Daenerys completely failed at ruling Meereen, she absolutely hated it, which is why she was so bad at it. Daenerys was never a good ruler, she was good at conquering, something Daario himself pointed out to her. "You weren't made to sit on a chair. You're a conqueror Daenerys Stormborn". Daenerys LIKED war and battle, she did not however, like the politics and nuances of ruling, which unfortunately are a vital part of governance. Daenerys is very much like Alexander the Great, he was also a remarkable military leader and conqueror but he had a very hard time at ruling the lands he conquered and once he moved on with his armies most of those lands descended into chaos.

@@distantraveller9876 When I think of Dany, Richard the lionheart comes to mind. Amazing military commander, horrible king. When he passed away, the realm was in debt as he put it in debt to fund the crusade campaign and got himself captured which put the realm even more in debt. Robert was similar to Dany too which is ironic considering both despised each other.
@@rsync9490 Dany made the Green Grace and the Harpies happy by marrying Hizhdar and opening the fighting pits, and made the Yunkaii happy by permitting slavery outside of Meereen. She's not the smartest in the books but she also showed great restraint at executing the nobles. Meereen falling apart has massive situational factors involved, which is supposed to build up her character to choosing fire and blood over unethical compromises because neither is a moral choice. the whole point of her character is "damned if I do, damned if I don't."
@@distantraveller9876 You're wrong. Dany in fact did NOT like war. It's the whole reason why she didn't just head to Westeros. Go back and read the passage where she was hallucinating and talking to Viserys. She tells him that the reason she didn't go was because she was tired of war. She spent her life going from place to place, never really having a home until the Dothraki, and that too was gone. She wanted to rule a live where she was. That's why when Prince Trystan showed up in Meereen and Barriston said that his arrival and the news he brought with him changes everything, Dany replies with "this changes nothing". She was over it.

@@TeamDaemon1980 People were not upset about Dany dying. They were upset about the character assassination, or at least what looked like it because they rushed the ending rather than giving it proper time to develop.
Not to mention Emilia is a lovely person who went through real health issues while filming & almost died a few times.
I never liked Dany, mainly because Emilia Clarke's acting is wooden

House Of The Dragon is like the Targaryens' heyday like the Star Wars prequels were still the Jedis' heyday. Eventually, they went into hiding.
If this series is done well, then I'm going to feel even more compassion for Daenerys being the last Targaryen. Excluding her actions at the end.

That coin flip bs is a show construct & half the Targs definitely didn’t go mad! It’s been like 3 in 300yrs & only Areys got the name of the mad king! The only thing I like is their answers do reflect their character’s personality but the GOT ending didn’t match Daenerys’s smh

They're not backing up the trash writing, they were asked what they would say to Dany at the end and they answered accordingly to their character's morals. Daemon would definitely be up for any violence to put his blood and flesh to the Iron Throne. They're not gonna say "sorry dear you were written badly" cmon.
@@tytybaby06 How was she going to do that? War, intimidation? Egg was a champion for the small folk. Daeron peacefully brought Dorne into the fold. Dany just burned cities to the ground and ruled meereen terribly. Not her fault though, her advisors knew little of meereen or had their own agendas.

Jon snow is the worst Targaryen to be the last. Dany would have helped the realm even if it was just Davos who asked for help. Jon was useless throughout as was Bran and Sansa. Can't believe Bran's role is to sit and wait for the Night King.

It’s not like the GOT books there’s no POV in Fire and Blood it’s written by 2 men after the war was over piecing things together so it doesn’t help understand the character anyway only an end point
@@daemontarg000 very true. The book would give them the overarching story but only the script will have the details, background and dialogue.
I get it. At the end of the day, most of the audience will only have what's on screen and in the script. There's no reason to be pulling from different material for your performance. Though I do love the source material....
In this case, Ryan and sapochnik should give them all a clear understanding of what they are getting into. Think of Condal and sapochnik as dungeon masters and these actors as pre written characters doing the fire and blood campaign. Remember that fire and blood doesn't have any unique povs just explanations of large events and maester biased opinions.

Tell me you’ve never worked with actors without telling me you’ve never worked with actors…dude, it’s fine. It’s perfectly legitimate and normal for an actor to depend on the material in the script as opposed to a book that doesn’t even really tell you about the important character stuff like worldview, motivations, speech patterns, interests, relationship details. They are extremely accomplished and skilled actors - I think they know what they’re doing in order to get a good performance. It’s not a “stupid excuse” 🙄

You can see it that way though, but to me they never even cared about it.
Unlike Daenerys (and Jon if you conclud him) which were her ancestors kingdom not her homeland where she was born on but still theres. Since Show!Dany unlike the book version of her wanted the throne and break the wheel and end this cycle of wars for ppl to get to it. And she failed, but im still waiting on GRRM to finish the books even though it less likely. I really interested in Danys storyline and Jons because they have parallels its impossible for them not to meet. But its going to be alot better in the books than show.
