these guys were friends of mine and although they never made it big they were a KC favorite for years. This is one of the only albums I have left from all those years ago having lost a bunch to moving and natural disasters.
This is a four piece pomp rock band from kansas. With in the line up shooting star keyboardist dennis laffoon. This is their only album. Released privately in 82. Their are some real good songs. Especially on side B. The song above is a nice catchy aor track. But there are much better songs. The stand out cut for me is the rainbow influenced escape from hollywood. A very rare and much sought after album. I,m proud to have it in my vinyl collection.
Just picked up a sealed copy of this gem and it's a stunning AOR pomp slice of heaven. And you get some cool album jacket artwork as well. Any serious AOR vinyl collector would already have this or it would need to be top 5 on their want list. Seek out ASAP.
I'm basing my opinion on the Powerglide release i have + this track (apparently your favorite on the album), so not just on one song. SPYS, Orion, RPM and Le Roux all had an instant 'wow factor' for me, as in 'these guys sound bloody fantastic'. I'm not getting that feeling here. Doesn't mean i think they suck, i just don't find them all that great. Which only goes to show that tastes differ.
No way is this in the same league as the awesome foursome you mentioned there. The vocals are just plain monotonous and from what i'm hearing here they play by the numbers, fairly unadventurous melodic rock (a nice keyboard theme does not a good song make). On the other hand, the album may include much better tunes than this one. I wouldn't know. I only have a self-titled Powerglide CD-R (one of their two EPs?). Is this the same band that recorded the 1991 'Where Do We Go From Here'?

The opening track takin my chances on a
winner is my 2nd favorite song from this
album. I used to have 4 copies of this
record.
