Miller arc welder, gift from my pops....box of 6011 sticks, also free from my dad. Look on my face once realized I have no 220 power?,, PRICELESS.. GREAT VID SIR!
I just obtained a Thunderbolt Miller and the indicator is missing for adjusting the amperage. Can anyone tell me which way to turn the knob on top to increase amperage? Probably clockwise to increase.
I've owned a few Miller machines and liked them all. And I would say I have burned maybe 50 thousand pounds of stick rod. Mostly 7018 or 7024. Back in the late 70's and the early 80's. The oilfields were good to me.
@@rockerpat1085 Yes sir, I did nothing but burn rods for 10 to 12 hours a day for many years. 50 thousand pounds is just a guess but it seamed like that many to me at that time...
Yep!!! Even though I have a big Strap-On Mig welder one never knows what may need to be welded with a Stick Welder!!! Thanks for watching and Keep Rocking!!!!

Fellows if you have a wishing mechine you have 230amp. Buy battery cable or 30 to 50 amp cord approximately 25 ft. and welding outlets. Set up or a 30 amp generator is cheaper then an electrician.
Ah!!! I did notice that once it had burned it was easier to strike the arc!!! Remember that was the first time I ever struck an arc!!! Like I said, I don't really need it, but I have it in case I ever do need it!!! Thanks for watching and Keep Rocking It Out Wendell!!!!
When I took welding in high school there was a brick at every station and we were taught to scratch the tip of the rod on the brick to remove the thin coating on the end of the rod to make that first strike easier. I'm not a professional welder but I still do it and I find it works for me. I'd probably fail inspection on an ironworking site though. I bought this same welder today for $100 because my little flux core welder won't penetrate 1/4" enough for me to trust it on my boat trailer. I cranked it up and it melted right through some 1/4" thick drops of 4" square tube. This is a good welder in my opinion. Yours went through a flood too. Impressive. I appreciate you. Thank you for sharing your skills knowledge and experience
What welder ends did you buy can you point me in the right direction or send a link. I have the same welder and it's missing the cables. Thanks for the help
The leads are just any leads you can find, the Ends I got off Ebay and they are LC-10MP. I don't know if that means anything or not but just ask Ebay for lead Ends that fit that machine!!! These are Made In The U.S.A!!!!! And they weren't to expensive!!! Hope that helps and as Always: Thanks for Watching and Keep Rocking!!!

Cool...ARC is great for welding cast iron...Remember you have to get the slag off before you can do another pass...I remember seeing guys cutting rebar with stick welders turned way up...
Yeah I didn't worry about removing the slag just wanted to test the unit out and see if it would burn a Stick or two!!! It does and now it will sit back where I had it for the day I need it!!! Thanks for watching and Keep Rocking It Out Down Under Ziggy!!!
