    I was in line for the Moulin Rouge and started talking with a woman. Her daughter was in the show (she was from Australia) and she told us all about the process for her daughter. The mother was OVER THE MOON her daughter got into the show. She even told us where her daughter was in one of the segments of the show. Omg. The girl waved to her mom and she was so excited. ❤❤❤ it was an amazing time!

    • @shayelea
      @shayelea 4 місяці тому +200

      @@rvcrashing I’m not sure there are any cabarets where I live. Probably the closest is burlesque, which is generally not completely undressed either on top or bottom. There are strip clubs, of course, but those are not generally thought of as artistic. (Regardless of the skill required, most people aren’t going to consider taking their mom to a strip club.)
      The whole reason I went looking for the info was that I suspected there would be nudity given the history of the venue, but nothing I saw stated or even suggested it. I think a person without knowledge of the history could see this video and easily come away with the impression that the artists would be fully clothed the entire time, which is why I commented.

    Quick changes are very common in live theater, however a costume change allotted more than 90 seconds is not considered a “quick change”.
    Two minutes is a generous allotment of changing time, especially with help.

    • @greenbeantm1096
      @greenbeantm1096 4 місяці тому +29

      For their costumes it’s really not 😂 as someone who’s been both in theatre and competitive dance, dance costume changes are also usually difficult because there’s no zippers or buttons, just tight costumes you have to carefully get on without messing up your hair or makeup. I once had a top that I only managed to get on by myself once because I had 2 dances to change and my mom didn’t get back in time to help.
      Edit to add: we also often aren’t changing directly backstage. So my specific personal experience of having 2 dances (around 4-6 minutes typically but depends on what dances are happening) also has to include running down a hallway, carefully running down a set of stairs, and running to wherever your stuff was in the green room (not what dancers call it but I genuinely can’t remember what we called it 😂) and then running back after changing. In a competition setting like mine was, while also trying to not run into dancers from other teams who are also trying to change and/or get set for their next dance.

    • @VetsrisAuguste
      @VetsrisAuguste 4 місяці тому +1

      @@NoOne-bp2jw according to industry standards and union rules, 2 full minutes does not qualify as a quick change. The dancers and crew aren’t even allowed to call it a “quick change” casually. This is an important distinction because an artist’s salary and that of the crew is affected by how many quick changes they must perform in a show. In professional theater there are rules and definitions. These aren’t extraordinary circumstances from a dressing standpoint nor a performing standpoint.

      Shorter requirements or preferences are usually more common in ballet from what I've seen. More contemporary styles of dance tend to be taller. For example, the Rockettes need to be between 5'5" and 5'10" but the lower end used to be 5'6" until recently. Granted, there are a lot of women over 5'10" so its nice to hear of a place where taller dancers might aspire to work 😅

      Show girls in Las Vegas have to be very tall and STRONG because they often wear very elaborate heavy costumes . They also go top less alot too.

    I saw the Moulon Rouge review in 1985. It's still one of the most memorable shows I have ever seen. The women were the most beautiful scantily clad ladies I had ever experienced. The men were extremely handsome and masculine for dancers. How are you gonna keep them down on the farm once they see Paris?

    I did dance as a kid, but by the time I was 13 I was suggested that I looked into other forms of dance then the route I was aiming to go because I simply wasn't as getting any taller as the others in my dance troupe even at my young age. And we tried to keep me in since I really loved it and just hoped I would get taller since my dad was so super sure I would take after his Italian side of the family and be like my aunt who is 6' , but it never happened, in fact I am laughably short. I took after my mom's Irish side and stand at 5'1 even at 27 now. I still love dancing but not as a professional since I couldn't get moved to another troupe after I age phased out of my last one since I couldn't meet the required height.

    So incredible. I fell in love with stage dancing of all kinds when I was still little and even pursued ballet until I was 14. But my height always meant I would never succeed. At 5'3 I would never have been a professional stage dancer (thought I might have kept on with ballet, still too short but those regulations are relaxed if you accept that you will never dance at a professional level). Still love to watch though! The most beautiful costumes 💗🌟
