Nobody does drum fills like Dave Lambardo. His double bass on this is crazy.
Listen to Dave's work with Grip Inc. He got to experiment a lot more with them and further developed as a drummer and percussionist. They're the most underrated metal band, IMO. They had their own thing going. Rusty Nail, Hostage To Heaven, Human are my favorite tunes.

If you haven't already, check out "Dave cam,Yankee Stadium ".Incredible view of the legendary Dave.
Wasn’t that Paul Bostaph on this recording?
Inquiring minds want to know. good question.
Tom screaming WAR always makes me so happy 😊
7:15 worthy of an ork warboss!
Me too. This was my oldest daughter’s favorite when she was little.
I took her to see them when she was 7 and, during that part, she threw both hands up and screamed along with him.
Proud moment, lol. And I got a picture of it.
Me too! 🤘🏻
this
Me too
Skeletons of society is a BANGER!
Might be the most underrated Slayer song. Seasons is probably the best Slayer album on its own merits, when viewed outside of the developmental importance of Show No Mercy and Reign in Blood.
This is not an opinion... This is FACT!
If you liked South of Heaven, you should love Dead skin mask from them. Just saying! 😉
Dance with the dead in my dreams!
Listen to their hallowed screams......
This is classic Slayer
Dead skin mask is beauty on that album, Molly.
this ^
I’m so happy to see younger generations finding the bands from my childhood. I’m pushing 50 and it’s fucking awesome to see these old bands being given new life.
Tom Araya: Golly gee, it's so neat and swell seeing you all and I hope you enjoy the performance, now lets have some fun together, this next song is called WAAAAAAAARRRR ENSAMBLE!
That whole album is lit AF
"Spill the Blood", "Silent Scream", "Spirit in Black", "Hallowed Point". All Bangers.
BORN OF FIRE!!!
Spill the blood best slayer song imo
@@Donbazzini22222one of Hanneman’s best riffs
Hallowed Point seems like the ultimate 2A song.
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SLAYER SONG EVER😈😈😈
This song makes me smile every time I hear it. RIP Jeff. Molly, keep an eye out for Kerry Kings band coming up. He’s said its basically Slayer 2 (as he didn’t want to stop, Tom did) 🤘🏻
I was at this gig it was filmed at Wembley Arena on Clash of the Titans tour, Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies.
I bet Testaments guitar solos blew these educated guesses away?
Clash of Titans was epic, still one of my favourite gigs to go to
I was at the Birmingham NEC one, I was drunk as a lord though.
I was at the Birmingham one as well and dislocated my thumb on the pit during Suicidal Tendencies, Awesome gig.
The moment Slayer really kick in into your brain (and it will if you keep listening to classic thrash metal), it will change your life. Forever.
7:14 in your video - when they played this live the entire crowd would shout WAAAAAARRRRRRR along with Tom and it was *amazing*
Considering South of Heaven is your favorite, I'd recommend:
Mandatory Suicide
213 (Live Intrusion version)
Dead Skin Mask
Ghosts of War
Divine Intervention (Live Intrusion version
I was at that gig… they played the song twice. They asked if they could mime to the song and record it playing through the pa.. the crowd booed so much they played it live again and recorded the video 🤟🏻
Me too. I always wondered if the second take was really live!
@@pennywise556 - I think this is why the shots jump around as Jeff plays the solo a bit different and o think they were struggling to keep the speed down match the album.
I'm enjoying your channel. I think what fooled your eyes for a moment, thinking Jeff's guitar looked like EVH's, was the stickers on it that are different punk band logos. The two most prominent are the Black Flag bars, and the Dead Kennedy's DK logo. Both bands are worth checking out, once you start to dig into the punkier side of Slayer's influences.
DUDE!! Keep playing. Keep struggling. Nobody is born talented - you gotta earn that shit. Also, you worked hard for 10k subs, then harder for 20...
You're doing it right!! Much respect from sunny Florida!
Dave Lombardo, one of the best metal/thrash metal drummers to ever pick up sticks
Mandatory Suicide or Silent Scream next, drum parts are insane
Dave Lombardo on drums. He's the one THEY all look up to.
I was in Operation Desert Shield screaming this song!!! SPORT THE WAR!!!
slayer - hell awaits, definitly listen to that one! trust me, you'll love it if you like the heavy stuff from this song already you're gonna love this one
“If this kind of music is played down there…”
This guy gets it!!!!!!!
Rip Jeff …. Dave is the thrash goat
Nice one. I was in that crowd when the video was filmed!
Thanx for checking out slayer Molly, even if one song grabs a hold brings a smile to my face
Probably my all time favorite Slayer song.
Slayer is my fav band. Forever. Crushed me when Hannemen died.
I think i understand now how my parents felt when Elvis died.
100%
War Ensemble is in my top 5 Slayer songs, but everyone has their own opinions and attachments to different songs. Keep reacting bro \m/\m/
Drummer Dave Lombardo is one of the reasons I am going to see Mr Bungle live this year. Legend
This album in 1990 was basically the peak for Slayer and the 1980's thrash sound was coming to an end very soon. Many bands didn't survive the 1990s grunge explosion and Slayer changed slightly also. This is my favorite Slayer album and the last with Dave Lombardo on drums until 2001 Christ Illusion album. 1990 was a great year for metal. Rust In Peace, Death Angel III, Sepultura Arise, Pantera Cowboys from Hell, Forbidden Twisted into Form.....the list goes on...
Christ illusion came out in ‘06
You are right. I looked it up quickly and thought the info was wrong. Fucking internet. That was Bostaph God HUA.@@lino522
I remember seeing/hearing this on MTV back in 1990 and this was beyond a doubt the fastest, most insane thing I had ever heard in my life at the time.
U need to hear more, we're here for the good music and for some of us the memories. In support of ur reactions(100% real imo!). Some green jelly-three little pigs for laughs, some morbid angel-god of emptiness there's no voice like Vincents and the chaotic playing of treys technique!. Some samael-ceremony of opposites. Some jeff loomis, arch enemy, paradise lost, pissing razors, nevermore. Endless ocean of metal brother!. Keep it up with the reactions. Good shit u do Molly!!🤘🤘
I seen Slayer in 1996 and that shit was so loud my ears rang for 2 days.
Black Magic and Hell Awaits 🔥
I dont care if u go on peoples nerves either. This is YOUR channel, YOUR time, YOUR analyzing. Love it. Keep it up!
One of best live shows I've seen!
The drum part you asked about at the end of your vid is called a "Drum Fill" . It breaks up the standard beat of the song to either signal vocals or a change up in rhythm , or sometimes just to spice things up depending . But if this wasn't your Slayer style of choice , like I said previously in the comments check out Dead Skin Mask for the eerie catchiness of South of Heaven or mid paced catchy bangers like Skeletons of Society (the lyrics will stick in your head like glue) and Expendable Youth may be one you really dig with its killer double bass mid paced groove . Those songs give you more to chew on except non stop fast paced brutality !
First Slayer song I ever heard at the tender age of 14. Changed my life forever and made me an instant Slayer fan. I thought Metallica was Heavy, these guys changed everything for me.
Don’t know how I stumbled across your channel, but I’m enjoying your content and look forward to more in the future.
My fav Slayer jam
Yo I request At Dawn they Sleep. And I recommend the 1995 live intrusion version. Though studio version is fine. It is a song that is likable on first listen in my opinion.
Most people’s review of the Album Hell Awaits hold that song in high regard, but it sits in this weird place where it is almost underrated
The live intrusion version is the best version.
Toms vocals are so good
It does not get any better than this.
"Eyes of the Insane".....badass Slayer track! You'll like that one!
Best react ever! Hugs from Brazil 🤘🤘🤘
Images someone requested archspire!? This guy’s head would explode!!
Thank you for reacting to this song! It was one of my recommendations. Sorry you didn’t like it as much as the others . Keep doing what you’re doing man. I really like your reactions. Other great Slayer songs are 213, Mandatory Suicide, Hallowed Point, Killing Fields
I think the crazy intro and the technicality (over heaviness) of the drum parts will grow on you as you play it again. There are live versions filmed from behind the drum riser that will blow your mind. A Euro show i think.
This song is a Banger !
First song from Slayer I ever heard. Been a fan ever since, and it just got better from then onwards.
Artisit : Morbid Angel Song : Rapture came out around the same time, Florida band. I realize its a new band but if your interested in same era and faster... check it out.
You'd go crazy for Dead Skin Mask.
I'd also recommend Chemical Warfare, Black Magic, and Ghosts of War.
Oh yes - one of the best Slayer ever recorded!
You are brave for checking out Slayer. Love their riffs.
The drums in this song. When all musicians gave their xharacter in the song
Seasons in the abyss ❤
Keep this up - I look forward to each and every one!!!
When I need to relax this is the album I play most often...
The Slayer song called Hell Awaits and the song Chemical Warfare are awesome!
The best Slayer album to me anyways, is HELL AWAITS. Listen to God Hates Us All, that’s a killer song too. So many great Slayer songs.
Expendable Youth is a good song . They are awesome in concert !
Saw them that year at a local venue (warm up gig for Wembley) My mate stood next to me had his arms wrapped around his chest because Dave’s bass drums were so loud and heavy it was affecting his chest!! 😎🤣
Spill the Blood would be right up your alley.
Fun fact, I was at the gig they recorded the video for this. Clash of the Titans at Wembley Arena. Right at the front, you can probably see my hair somewhere, Jeff side of the stage. Anyone else there? Speed comes with practice, don't beat yourself up, just enjoy.
Slayer songs - At Dawn They Sleep. Black Magic. Die by The Sword. Dead Skin Mask.
My favorite Slayer song is Expendable Youth. In reality the whole Seasons in the Abyss album is incredible.
Also: the symbol on the guitar that makes it look like Ban Halen is a stylized icon, DK, for the punk band Dead Kennedys.
Waiting for "world painting blood"
a few of my favorite Slayer songs you might like -
Hell Awaits, Chemical Warfare, Haunting The Chapel, Silent Scream.
This song is among their best
IM HERE ONLY WHEN ITS HEAVY AS FUCK ...🤘🏻☠️💯 THATS IT MFERS.....let's gooooooo
Thanks for listening to my favorite Slayer song. I think you need to listen to it again without pausing to really decide how you feel about it. The drum thing you’re talking about is a “drum fill”
Dead skin Mask, Spirit in Black, Jihad, God Hates us All, and Bloodline are all great songs. Honestly you should listen to the full albums of all these artists once you have gotten through the requests. Then you get a better feel for each band. Something to think about in the future. Keep on the grind, love the reactions. ✌️😎
You will LOVE Seasons in the Abyss. Also do Dead Skin Mask and Silent Scream.
Correct mate 🤟
MollyBoy you're right again! South of Heaven might be the best Slayer song you'll ever hear. It's goddamn perfection... That's why!
As an OG Slayer and metal fan since 86, Id like to request you to do my favorite Slayer song. Uou probably won't hear anyone else request it, because it's a 'deep cut', but I guarantee Dave Lombardo's drumming will hook you INSTANTLY, and you'll understand why he was considered the best metal drummer, for decades 😊
Live Undead.
Off the South of Heaven album ❤️
You'll be sweating by the end of it, I guarantee it 😉
Disciple- slayer, god hates us all album. The album was released 9/11 2001
You might like Megadeth's latest stuff if you liked this..."We'll Be Back" very thrashy and basically spoken word narration about battle like this... it's from 2022 and they still are amazing
They used to scare the crap out of a lot of people back in the day. Just so evil sounding! At the time nothing was this fast and aggressive. I remember getting the tabs for this in Guitar Player magazine as a teen and trying to learn it. Yea, it takes years to get to that speed.
Slayer is awesome! the real expeirience is the Slayer pit, so much love given to everyone. good clip,I I dig it.
Respect the honesty for sure. Keep it real!
Some of their more recent stuff might strike you a bit differently. Their sound did change over time but it always sounded like Slayer, if that makes sense. You'll never confuse Slayer for another band or another band for Slayer.
I had this playing on the Walkman before hockey games. It worked.🤘
Was hoping you'd do this one next... And don't worry about too many of the comments my friend... Some folks take this shit waaay to serious...
I got my first concussion at a Slayer show at 15 or 16 '87 maybe? Lol crazy show
Silent Screams, Ghosts of War, Behind the Crooked Cross 🤘😎🤘
one of the biggest things i've found that helps me play faster is keeping my muscles in my arms and hands relaxed. it's easy to get too tense when your trying to play fast, which can slow you down.
check out Cannibal Corpse, a good song to start with is Hammer Smashed Face! they have good riffs
This is something that gets your addrealine to pump up and boost what ever you are doing at the moment. Lets say that you are sitting little bit bored and drinking some beer or what ever that is the best possible time to get the spirit and mood up. Waaaaaaaar mf!!! 😂
It just gets little bit rush to listen these kinds of songs. This is also great in to your playlist for gym or just to backround while you are cleaning up 😁.
Also this sertainly is a great live song. For giving that rush and feel for moshin in the groud.
With the guitar just keep practicing. Speed will come over time. I wish I had UA-cam when I was learning as there is so much available now to self teach. I still play Slayer now as it’s so much more interesting to play than stuff like oasis for me at least.
RIP Jeff ❤❤❤
That Dbbl Bass drum is so fast he cant hear it. Lmfao😂😂😂😂
Peak SLAYER, Jeff was still alive, Dave had not left yet, Tom could still headbang and Kerry still had hair. 😁🤘
god send music.
SLAAAAAYER!!!! hr hr
Also I agree with you on how I feel about the song. Although ever since I saw the movie Green Room, I have a new appreciation for the song. If you haven’t ever seen that movie it’s worth checking out since this song is featured for a significant amount of time during a super tense scene near the beginning/middle
Yesss!!! This album was my Summer soundtrack when I was 17!!! Saw these guys Live that year in Fresno California with Testament, at the Wilson Theater!! It changed my life forever!!!
Dig your reactions bro! If this one didn't tickle you, please checkout Dead Skin Mask or Blood Red!!Don't let the Metal "know it alls" discourage you, most of the time they're intent is only to educate, but I know there are also plenty of pricks!!
Full on assault from the first note.Absolute classic.
Its funny that you mention that they kept their original self. In the mid to late 1990s, Slayer would put out a quasi-punk rock album and then a nu-metal inspired album after that. They returned to something similar to the Slayer sound after that.
Love this.
SLAYER did a version of In-a-gada-da-vida around this time period,
Rob Halford from Judas Priest got with Pantera and did a song called *Light Comes Out Of Black.* for the Buffy vampire sdtrck. Judgement Night sdtrck brought SLAYER and Ice-T together for a song called DISORDER. I bet 3 people in the world remembers these songs.
You want to know the basic rundown of slayer -you certainly did not hear your favorite yet till you’ve covered the first4albums -1-haunting the chappel /2show no mercy 3-live undead/4-hell awaits/+slayer is-Tom Araya-bass+vocals/Jeff Hanneman-lead guitar/Kerry King guitar&huge nail spikes /Dave Lombardo -the jackrabbit of killer drums/he retired but we of the 1983 tribe don’t accept the resignation 🤘
