Tom Hanks ('The Post') joins Close Up with The Hollywood Reporter for this season's Writers Roundtable. He speaks on his role as an executive producer in Hollywood in light of the recent sexual harassment scandals within the industry as well as his portrayal of former executive editor of The Washington Post Ben Bradlee.

Agree. I have never liked him. He’s always set of my gut. I even told his brother that I wasn’t a fan of James and he laughed and said, “ya, my brothers not for everyone.” He’s one of those people I would never trust and I don’t doubt those Allegations one bit.

Marius Ipad people make their own choices. My Uncle Arthur and Aunt Geraldine were very good parents to all their kids. They did a lot for all their kids. They stayed and raised their kids together. They were very involved in their lives and still yet my cousin Charles turned to drugs and even went to prison. Then there is my friend Terri who had the crappiest childhood. She was abused throughout most of it but not once did she turn to drugs. She got married. She got divorced. Her ex husband wanted nothing to do with her kids so she was left to raise them on her own. Her kids grew up. She got remarried and stayed married until he died several years ago. She's a very good person. She's volunteers in the community and would help anyone in need. It just goes to show that the kids aren't always a reflection of their parents and vice versa.
I can listen to Tom Hanks talk all day and every day
Karma Fairy it would be neat to hang out with him. He seems like a sincere, wise man and it seems like it would be like talking to a father figure, giving good advice about life and all that good stuff.

I genuinely love Tom Hanks: as an actor and as a human being. He is one of the rare guys in the business who is phenomenally talented but also just a good, straight up man. No icky vibes or weirdness from him. And he looks great for his age! Goes to show, you don't have to be a moody, strung out dude to be an actor. You can be simple, grounded and still do your job.
I know a lot of people in the entertainment industry and can confirm that Tom Hanks is one of the good guys. He's been in the industry for such a long time that if he were a predator, there would've been stories and accusations about him already. There are always hints and red flags before predators are fully exposed.

Hanks is a legend. Funny how almost all of the men look like they are squirming when Hanks was talking about a "code of ethics." The only one who looked like he agreed with Hanks was John Boyega.

Tom Hanks has one of those voices that I could listen to all night. I think that’s why the Polar Express is so good to me. He has one of those story telling voices. Him and Morgan Freeman have those one of a kind voices that lock you in.

Hanks has a well maintained image of being a decent guy and I like that. I hope there will not be a revelation at some point that he actually a predatory jerk. It would be nice to have one untarnished hero.

The wise man speaks to the council of fellows..I love Tom Hank's acting styles he's had over the years, every single one I've seen. I admire him so much as a person too. Obviously his Dad jokes are what make him the greatest. No really though, his wisdom shines through in regards his wisdom of the art of acting and towards the seedy underbelly of Hollywood.

I swear I don't understand why it's so hard for powerful men to just leave women alone. They can get tons of women that do want them but feel the need to pick on women that don't want them. Tom Hanks is, of course, the biggest movie star in the world. But he's also a great actor. When I watched The Post, I noticed a lot of mannerisms he did that Jason Robards originally did in All the President's Men.

There's a difference that I've noticed between the actors and actresses roundtables... In the latter everybody's very supportive of each other and is genuinely interested in what they're saying while in the former participants are cordial to one another but there is a sense of awkwardness within them... Wonder why that is..??

There was no awkwardness. You are reading into it. Franco was totally enamoured by Hanks' story. Gary Oldman and Willem Defoe understood and agreed with him, as veteran actors. Sam Rockwell was listening intently. And John Bodeyga was probably wondering what he was doing at a roundtable full of Oscar winners and nominees....
