👎Hard to give it a like thats not a mustang looks like a shopping trolley the aggressive look favoured aint there imagine steve McQueen in that thing doing Bullitt 🤔. The new mustang has been modeled as a salute to the 1967 original and best
Lovely original example Mark. Congrats. No doubt there is a story to tell about importing a car like this. Would make an interesting video maybe in the future.
You have some interesting American models in your collection. Recall this model. Mercury had a version of this body style up until 1986. It was called Mercury Capri. It was not like the European Ford Capri or the Australian convertible one of the 1990's. I know you will get your car looking grand again Mark. You have a good foundation to start. As you said this was the beginning of aero Ford. The Ford Thunderbird was next in 1983, the Ford Tempo and Mercury Topaz in 1984 and then Lincoln Mark VII in 1984 and Ford Taurus and Sable in 1986. That Mustang body ran from 1979 to the early 1990's . They did styling upgrades over time. I trust and know you will enjoy your car.
Thanks Olds98. I appreciate it. I almost bought a 79 Capri V8 in orange years ago. Sorry I missed it. These Mustangs were the start of the aero theme. Jack Telnack had to really push for it. 👍
@@markbehr88 The push paid off hugely for Ford. I recall the orange Mercury Capri RS too. Jack did a lot for Ford. I had read a while back he wanted to keep the Town Car around and just downsize it to 205-208 inches long down from where it was when it stopped production. It still would have been a large car. I do not know why the decided against it. The market was changing.
hi Mark, love the fox body Mustang, never driven one but had a ride in one. It was a 1980 W-reg plate Mustang Ghia 6 cylinder with similar alloy wheels of the Cortina Ghia ( 13 inch ) it was imported by Ford Imports which is bases in London this Mustang was made for UK in mind with the tail lights of the Capri so it was fitted with amber indicators and rear fog lights and it was RHD this car was a 3.3 litre with automatic gear box, I think i've mentioned the car before. I wonder with your car has the thrust bearing seized, hope you get it fixed soon. In 2008 and 2010 I was in Kissimmee, Orlando Florida USA I was looking around Mustangs of all ages must have been 60 Mustangs there from the 1960's up to 2008 it was brilliant and the car owners were so friendly and welcoming. Good luck with the clutch hope its a simple fix, Take care
Thanks Mark, but no to the desirability aesthetically. To collect one is a good decision though, it will appreciate in value in time. Collectors are after the generically shaped Mustangs.. In time it will be a different story as the early ones become scarce. I just have no affinity for this Cortina mk 4 stylised two door styling. It does not catch the eye. Yet generically styled newer Mustangs will be plentiful in the future and yours will become more valuable as a classic.
Fair enough. I really like the Fox body Mustangs. They do have a big following. Not like the 1964 and a half model but very big with a younger audience. The 79 Cobra is quite a rare sight these days. 👍
@markbehr88 point taken, your knowledge of these cars far surpasses mine! Thanks again for your videos, as a South African I enjoy the history of the Fairmont, Fairlane and the Holdens which were imported into our country from Australia.

That will be will be a cool car to have in Aus! Well, anywhere really! I used to have a 79 Mercury Capri, same car. Also, my first car was an R10!
@@davidburnette5158 Very cool. I almost bought an orange 302 V8 one of those years ago. Sorry I missed it. 👍

Yes, I do remember those. I always thought they were a nice car and much better than the 74-8 model. 👍
Reminds me of some sort of nissan it's well ugly in my mind though, good luck with it and happy driving, will give it that thumbs up
