Common 24hr race settings for AMS2: X25 for 58 minutes (24h 10m) X25 for 57 minutes (23h 45m ) X20 for 72 minutes (24hrs) X10 for 144 minutes (24hrs) Also, make sure you change Pit Strategy for tyre changes from "Recommended" to "All" or else the pit crew will not change your tyres until they are around 10% left.
Great. Another Raven recomendation: Be sure to activate "Allow refuelling in pitstops", otherwise, the game won't allow you to fill the fuel tank. Best regards
I agree with your opinion about AMS2: AC might have more cars and vintage content because of mods, but in AMS2 everything is more consinstent especially in terms of AI and quality of the content itself
I disagree, AC is far more fun because of the mods, it also imo has a better driving model. AMS2 is a bit weird, if you're suffering from understeer just throw in some more turning angle using your wheel, dont need to know about neutralizing the rear in a slide because AMS2's slide recovery is super easy. the AI in vintage cars are still often getting caught up in each other which results in them being stopped on the racing line, etc. the thing AMS2 does better than anyone else is the consistency that you're having fun vintage racing, which honestly is super refreshing.
One of the things I really like about this game's weather system is how it can be pouring rain one end of a track and bone dry on the other. I had a race in the 90's group A cars at 90's Spa where it was pouring rain and treacherously wet in sector one, all the way up through Eau Rouge and Raidillon, but the rest of the track was mostly/entirely dry. It was a big race of strategy as to whether you stick to dry tyres and try to make up time in the middle of the lap, or change to wets to make the most of the end/start of the lap. I stuck to dry tyres and I just maintain the memory of absolutely wrestling my BMW up an absolutely saturated Eau Rouge/Raidillon on dry tyres, trying my hardest to keep everyone else who had pitted behind me, then just driving off as if they were stood still in the middle sectors, only to have them catch back up as I headed through the old bus stop and so-on. It's so dynamic, and an experience I've never managed to get from any other sim!
33:18 On the race start screen, under edit setup. There is a pit strategy button where you can preset what laps you will pit on and tell your crew exactly what to do on each stop. During the race, they will call you in with a pitboard.
GPLaps, You can adjust your pit stop strategy. There's is 2 ways to do it. 1 Pre race, in the setup screen. 2 The in race, car control menu. Normally it's left or right on the D pad, and then you can go into your pit strategy menu while driving. It's the same thing as Pcars 2 but it actually works
The old 10-km circuit was used in 1970-83, with the new, permanent course opening in 1984. The Front Straight, Turns 1 and 2, and the first part of T3 on the new track are a portion of the old circuit, though the around the lake course ran anti-clockwise. The main event on the old circuit was a 12-hour sportscar race. In 1971-72, this was won by a Ferrari 512. So they had some pretty hot stuff at least at the sharp end of the field.
Next month's AMS2 update has AI modding (names and values) too, which can add a huge amount of immersion for me. A few classes really interest me and I hope they add depth to them; 70s Touring, 70s GTs (please, a CSL and a Capri!), early 70s F1 and the 90s GT1s The plug and play, the multiclass AI and the consistent quality all make AMS2 a great starting point and I'm really interested to see where they take it, especially with a couple of vintage track packs in their plan for next year. By the way, Ilja of Content Manager / CSP fame is apparently doing bits and pieces for AMS2, including some elements of the weather options.
I love this game. I also prefer vintage racing, and AMS2 is really easy for a quick race. It is also getting better with each update. Apart from GPL, AMS2 is the sim I play most often. Thanks for the video, Jake
Also, I'm not sure if you are aware, but as ams2 simulates the atmospheric pressure on the tracks your BMW had a big advantage over the vette due to its turbo
this is why I think ams2 is so underrated. yeah ok the physics might not be "perfect", but boy does the game include everything else. from an AI team mate who can drive the car to little stones that try and kill you every now and again
That game really looks beautiful... more than I thought it would. I love the deep contrast and saturated colors. As soon as I get a PC, I'm definitely going to get my paws on a copy of that.
Having driven many hours in all the big sims, AMS2 is now the go to place to enjoy gt cars and these vintage cars. Thank for this great video. It’s so much fun
Great vid. One thing you to change depending on how realistic you want it to be is to change damage to 200%. Hitting marker points and high curbs damages suspension etc. Even a slight knock into an opponent will give you damage too.
I play lots of 1 hour endurance races in AMS2 and I'll use some of your settings. Have you tried AMS2 in VR? It's really beautiful looking and the VR integration makes it easy to use.
What's the settings you use to get the AIs to behave realistically? I like to see them PIT when I am pitting....but I am always the first to run out of gas after 1 or 2 laps? And yet the AIs keep going even though they're using the same type of car as I am lol. My settings is 30mins w/ 3x tire wear and 3x fuel and if i bump it up to 5x fueling, it only last one lap before I have to refuel lol. The other settings are even worst, the one that say "realistic" or "accelerated" fueling. If i lower to 3x, it last barely 2 laps. Meanwhile, the AI probably don't refuel until 3 or 4 laps later lol. I am driving on Speilberg 1974. I am using P1 Mercedes. Are we supposed to use a specific car and track to make the AI behave realistically strategy wise? I tried V10 Gen 1 as well...still the AIs don't run out of gas the same time as I am either. Maybe I should race with multi-class?
Would love to see the Alfa GTA, fractionally older than your 2002 running in this sort of stuff. The Lotus Cortina and Lotus Elans would be great entrants as well.
I guess the dream of the whole field diving into the pits for wet tires will have to wait a few more years. Been dreaming since GTR2, so a bit longer won't kill me. This does look promising.
Cool video. But did you see the bug? Pit crew came out with tires, but never did change them. Your tire wear indicator was the same before and after you left all your pitstops. You actually raced on the same tires throughout the entire race.
Great video. One recommendation that isn't so intuitive is to set the AI aggression level at 100 or close to it. On lower settings the AI will stay single-file, glued to the race line and won't ever overtake one another. On higher settings the AI drive more realistically and actually fight for positions. At higher settings the AI also seems more aware of your presence and won't smash right through you carelessly like they do at lower settings.
I run at 100 ya. I’d still like to see more ai battles and mistakes. They still get into a bit of a train. I think Reiza is working more on this 🤞 Real life Stock car races have so many accidents and DNF, be cool to see a bit of that by the ai. Great sim though!
Sadly the madness engine sometimes produces graphic glitches at night. It is possible that shadows get "stuck" on the track and you have ghost like aperitions all over the track
An absolute pleasure to watch, your content really is sumptuous, a wonderful experience and if anyone has any doubts as to the draw of simracing,....they should just watch this, simply beautiful 👏🏁🍾
AMS2 even 1 are so underated... I love the way you put into words your driving sensations. This is one of the best simracing channels keep up your good work.
With all the physics and now new FFB AMS2 is really the sim for the future...If only they could address the shadows flickering and get a better AA for cheap it will be as next gen as anything we have or are getting.
Absolutely love how little u can see in the night. Idk if UA-cam has got it looking a bit darker than it actually is but god I have no idea how you're driving in that dark I couldn't make out a single brake marker or turn in point or nothing. Great driving and wonderful game!
Maybe you could try playing around with the aggression setting. Sometimes increasing the aggression can result in cleaner racing. Even if this setting works for you, it might be interesting to experiment. Also, you can change the pit strategy in the menu. you'll be able to create "strategies", which determine what the pit crew will do. you can select these during the race, and if needed change them. Changing them during the race is a bit difficult though.
I was in a PCars 2 league that did all sorts of kooky and great races. The day to night to day is such a nice touch, it drives me nuts why iRacing or LFM don't take advantage of that, aside from the obvious 24 Hours races. It's still a shame AMS2 wouldn't get on board with LFM, you would put together fantastic leagues there.
Ive been watching your different videos, contemplating on what racing sims i want to invest my time on. This on has def made my list. Im alot like you when it comes to the classics. These are by far my favorite racecar generation. And for the sim i like as much realism as possible.
wait for this upcoming update that will drop in a few days! (unless youre a part of the beta) but the differential has been improved. youll notice the corner entry understeer wont be so bad. on top of that, the defaults will probably be revised to account for it, but it shouldnt take so long to dial in how the car handles anymore. at least in my experience, driving fclassics.
This circuit really is beautiful. I raced the Minis there once and had a blast. While you were in the menu screen I briefly thought about having a Procar class in that race, too. Although they are probably too new and too fast. Anyway, your videos always make me want to do some historic simracing as well.
The Track/Car combo is amazing. I did 3 endurance races here and two of them were a blast. In the third I had heavy rain troughout the night and right before the last chicane a huge and deep puddle formed. I'm an experienced sim racer with thousands of hours of driving under my belt but I couldnt get through the water without spinning out. Only once I managed to master it but I was extremely slow. The AI could go through this area nearly double the speed I was. I cancelled the race after the tenth time i spinned out because I was too frustrated.
Thank you for showing me how to accelerate tyre & fuel wear. I was wondering why it wasn't in the race setup menu. This has made the game far more entertaining. All we need now is the real drivers names.
Oh wow, this car. It looks so easy and smooth on video, but to drive is anything but. Ive never felt mechanical steering feel so real in a game before. You have to be sooo smooth with the steering wheel, and it's sooo nice to trail brake. Is very tricky to drive tho if you're used to gt3s etc. Different animal. Would also recomend this round brands hatch indie wherei feel it really excels round the long sweeping corners.
Just so much fun...What a great race....Love AMS2 and it is just getting better and better but more importantly 80's and 90's Indycar is coming at the end of the month!
Very enjoyable Race... 58:15 WOW Moment, going into the sun... AM2 can be such a beautiful Game. 1:13:00 GREED // In my opinion, AM2 is the beginner friendliest of the BIG Racing Programs. (ACC, AM2, rFactor 2, iPhoneRacing(because it will cost you as much as a brand new iphone)) And of course AC (still) as the best value for Money Beginner Racer of all time (fanboi La-Ola-Wave). I can't drive ACC for the life of me... i dunno why... the setups are like a foreign language to me. You Sir are the reason i picked up Sim Racing Seriously with your GPL Video's because that was my 1st Love (Racing wise). And of course your Poetry in your "Targa Florio - Sim Racing's Greatest Circuit" Video... (the reason i bought rfactor 2... for ONE Track... like a Mad man) This Track is my Zen Track (and all Tracks from Fat-Alfie in AC) so much fun to drive... Cheers
I did the same class of cars tonight at historic Spielberg I finished first but ai pitted 5 times to my 4. Super immersive and really fun. I’ll set a bit lower difficulty and pit an extra time next time I try this.
I'm looking for something that's essentially a modern version of GT Legends, would you say that's best captured in AMS2? I am getting back into rFactor 2 also and am a big fan of it, but it seems harder to find a polished set of vintage cars that you could put together. I just bought AMS2 for a few reasons (also the classic F1), but I'm hoping based on what I'm seeing that there's some good vintage GTL type racing.
You do have the possibility of driver swaps. Before pitting you can select which driver is going to take the car after the next stop. It is one of the options on the race strategy menu, which you can usually access with your wheel's dpad
Hey Jake, as you are getting into AMS2, you should try the "Old Stock" category. It's brazilian vintage racing series (which existed for some time) with old touring 79' Chevrolet Opalas. These cars were called Opel Rekord in Europe and Australia. You would please me and all the other Brazilian fans of the channel!
32 is the max AI grid you can have, but each track has it's own limit. 74 and 77 Spielberg can only have 19 unfortunately. I believe it is tied to the amount of garage spots the track has in game. It also depends on how many liveries is available for the classes you chose. It is def an issue I'd like Reiza to address as a lot of the historic tracks have less than desirable potential grid sizes, especially when trying to set up multiclass races.
@@jjjumpers3818 it may have 50 IRL, but I was referring to solely the amount of garage spots in game. Daytona can have over 60 cars IRL, but the max in AMS2 is only 32. Def wish there was a work around for this as having larger grids would be a lot of fun on some tracks like Daytona or Nords
Great tips. Have started to get back into AMS2 again after about 4 months or so. Will definitely try out the fuel and tyre wear settings. I prefer VR and my PC can't handle some of the weather or night settings though so putting it on random would really be a risk :D
I've been hooked on the 2002 from my first try. they just got something really right with it. The way it communicates how it's rotating is great. And yeah, it's forgiving, but is that a bad thing? Plenty of cars are forgiving in the real world.
Autombikista is the best racing game. Even for F1 racing. The damage models are why I play it. Nothing else compares in that regard (except I racing but you have to pay to breathe)
It's gotten a lot better the last two releases. Has some unique and cool cars as you point out. Graphics engine is the best imo as vr works fantastically well. Most of my racing is still in iracing because of the competition but this has become my offline sim.
Wow! The last year and a half I've been focusing primarily on my flight simming (xplane 11) and haven't done mutch racing except some occasional NR2003. I haven't fired up AMS2 in a long while although I noticed many times STEAM autoupdates of AMS2. Now this sim used to be good already, but wow it really got even better. The graphics are great, the ai is good, the weather, the track surface change... They really had a decent rFactor base game and have really made it stunning visually and gameplay wise. On the other hand Project cars started off as a promising beautiful looking simcade. Then they neglected ai and gameplay and have gone full Forza, Gran Turismo (Full childish arcade. Beautiful visuals, unrealistic driving)
In what universe is a Lotus 23 a touring car? I love vintage racing with AI in AC’s Ultimate Edition on console, but the way they group the cars is often strange (60s Alfa 33s with 80s Ruf 911s and F40s).
I tried this setup, great fun. I have no idea how you keep up with the 104 AI tho, even on 100 which I usually have it on im more than a second off the slowest car in my class.
Problem with AMS2 is that Reiza cannot work on the engine and noone else does. The replay system is bad, FPS with night and rain is bad. Rest is really nice.
Try deleting your AMS2 folder from My Documents are reconfigure your game and recalibrate your wheel and pedals. The car is easy to drive just like in the video.
Wouldn't have thought that BMW would have been a great car Especially in the wet What with RWD and turbo lag I would have thought it would had been almost impossible to drive I haven't heard about that track Also I would have thought that those minis would have done much better than they did Mini Cooper's were awesomely quick
In the wet the BMW 2002 is actually a bit faster than the GT Classic class at tracks like Suzuka, even with a controller it's fantastic to drive in the wet, to the extent that you're barely any slower.
Unfortunately this game shares two issues with many other modern racing sims: - no mod support. Without (track) mods a sim will feel stale very quickly. Why have ten different ages of GP cars when each car can only run two or three period correct circuits? - lack of complete grids. All modern games try to tick every single type of car but fail to provide a proper grid to compete against.
Given that Project Cars 2 eventually did get some car mods, I'm hoping that once Reiza is done with the technical aspects of the game they might be more permitting of mods.
Great video! Did the pit crew actually change your tires? The HUD didn't show any change in the tire wear or temps so I guess they didn't. Did you feel you had more grip after the stops? Also, do you feel that the outside kerbs are slippery when it rains? I don't, I use them normally when driving in the wet it AMS2 and I think it's wrong. I still enjoy it very much. Looking forward for this weekend's 1.3 update.
Try latest updates and delete your setup folder. You ‘may’ find a lot of the cars are more drivable. I have noticed improvement on mid corner control and corner exit.
Common 24hr race settings for AMS2:
X25 for 58 minutes (24h 10m)
X25 for 57 minutes (23h 45m )
X20 for 72 minutes (24hrs)
X10 for 144 minutes (24hrs)
Also, make sure you change Pit Strategy for tyre changes from "Recommended" to "All" or else the pit crew will not change your tyres until they are around 10% left.
Great. Another Raven recomendation: Be sure to activate "Allow refuelling in pitstops", otherwise, the game won't allow you to fill the fuel tank. Best regards

Awesome racing, great graphics. You have changed my opinion of AM2!
Great race. Love to see this title take off and give us more vintage tracks and cars!
Love your all your content, super stoked to see you digging AMS2. Awesome video!
Just so much fun...What a great race....Love AMS2 and it is just getting better and better but more importantly 80's and 90's Indycar is coming at the end of the month!
Awesome video! Has inspred many a mixed class AMS2 enduro race!
Forgot to say it is only possible to share the car with an AÍ driver at the moment
Use Voice Attack: ua-cam.com/video/ZRK0qWcFZw0/v-deo.html
Hey Jake, as you are getting into AMS2, you should try the "Old Stock" category. It's brazilian vintage racing series (which existed for some time) with old touring 79' Chevrolet Opalas. These cars were called Opel Rekord in Europe and Australia. You would please me and all the other Brazilian fans of the channel!
Just subbed. Don't know why it took so long.
Luv the vids. Entertaining, informative and totally enjoy the music.
All round nice job brother. Thanx.
I think Suzuka has over 50 grid slots, its depending on the track. But I agree especially for multiclass a lot of tracks need a larger grid
@@DustySticks no I meant in game. When you create
a championship and choose Suzuka you can set AI opponents to >50
@@jjjumpers3818 no it's not in AMS2 the madness engine has w 32 car limit. I just checked and Suzuka allows 31 opponents
@@DustySticks then I got tricked bc game says over 50 but probably only 32 show up then. I see
If anything, i would love to see vintage NASCAR running at Interlagos Oval, Automobilista 2 Replicated that wonderfully.
It's like the game specifically generated the session to demonstrate different weather conditions :D
Thank you~ love your all videos.
Awesome, love it!
Great video, awesome sim.
I just got this game on humble bundle, think I'll try your race settings. thanks!
They definitely need to make pitstop changes on the fly way easier
Pity about the spin on the last lap I was looking forward to see if you were fighting for a podium spot.
Genuinely felt car sick at the start of that second stint trying to see the track beyond the headlights
oop! didnt mean to make anyone sick!
@@GPLaps haha all good
Watching this make me happy I just bought AMS2
Would love to see some group 5 stuff
You need to revisit this👍
In what universe is a Lotus 23 a touring car? I love vintage racing with AI in AC’s Ultimate Edition on console, but the way they group the cars is often strange (60s Alfa 33s with 80s Ruf 911s and F40s).
If I want to do a longer sim session I start up RF2…
…if I want to do a quick fun sim session I start up AMS2!
awesome! which graphics card are you using?
I *think* the bmw is on street tires, which are all weather tires. I remember reading something about it, but can’t remember if it was AMS2 lmao
Yes, both Vintage Car tiers are on street tyres and the GT-class on slicks.
you should try the backwards version of this track ist even more fun
In this version the weather dynamics for the windshield aren't actives
I tried this setup, great fun. I have no idea how you keep up with the 104 AI tho, even on 100 which I usually have it on im more than a second off the slowest car in my class.
I wish they would add a real 02 touring car. The 2002 turbo is a stock street car
Great great great video! ;)
Stunning beauty. The game, I mean.
FYI - the Madness engine is not power the physics, only the graphics. The physics calculations are from another physics engine...
How does this compare to Project Cars 2's BMW 2002 Turbo
Some tracks let you have 39 cars I believe, but Idk. It's been a while since I booted up AMS 2
iRacing: "We have dynamic weather effects now with rain that forces you to drive the wet line"
AMS 2 back in 2021:
To steal Super GT's gimmick: "Drinking game for 'run wide'."
Problem with AMS2 is that Reiza cannot work on the engine and noone else does. The replay system is bad, FPS with night and rain is bad. Rest is really nice.
New vid! Yessssssssssss.
How the hell you drive so smooth this car.. everytime i try to turn it goes all over like ice-skating.
I really liked the video though 👍👍
Try deleting your AMS2 folder from My Documents are reconfigure your game and recalibrate your wheel and pedals. The car is easy to drive just like in the video.
@@andreic5822 I will try this..why should i do that though?
Does AMS2 have real damage? Simracer for many years but AMS never interrested me much.
Yes and it got better lately. Engine redline too much, water temps, etc. Flat spots. Lots of things to watch out for. Parts fly off too ha.
Welp, Im early this time. Imma enjoy this
Wouldn't have thought that BMW would have been a great car
Especially in the wet
What with RWD and turbo lag I would have thought it would had been almost impossible to drive
I haven't heard about that track
Also I would have thought that those minis would have done much better than they did
Mini Cooper's were awesomely quick
This track is situated at a very high altitude. NA engines loose a lot of power compared to turbo engines.
In the wet the BMW 2002 is actually a bit faster than the GT Classic class at tracks like Suzuka, even with a controller it's fantastic to drive in the wet, to the extent that you're barely any slower.
Unfortunately this game shares two issues with many other modern racing sims:
- no mod support. Without (track) mods a sim will feel stale very quickly. Why have ten different ages of GP cars when each car can only run two or three period correct circuits?
- lack of complete grids. All modern games try to tick every single type of car but fail to provide a proper grid to compete against.

I'm asking for the exact opposite! Rather than striving for quantity (of racing series) over quality, pick a few and do them properly.
Given that Project Cars 2 eventually did get some car mods, I'm hoping that once Reiza is done with the technical aspects of the game they might be more permitting of mods.
@@mikeblatzheim2797
I hope so!
Should redo this with the 1.3 update.
The fact, that AI is still braking on a straight behind another car instead of overtaking is kinda facepalm in 2021 -.- (speaking for every sim)
Yes I hope they continue to improve ai overtakes. They aren’t great yet.
Just wooowww
May have just sold a few copies of ams2
Great video!
Did the pit crew actually change your tires? The HUD didn't show any change in the tire wear or temps so I guess they didn't. Did you feel you had more grip after the stops?
Also, do you feel that the outside kerbs are slippery when it rains? I don't, I use them normally when driving in the wet it AMS2 and I think it's wrong.
I still enjoy it very much. Looking forward for this weekend's 1.3 update.
Nice
Wow, just took a crack at this car. What a handful for a car with not the most powerful engine.
Try latest updates and delete your setup folder. You ‘may’ find a lot of the cars are more drivable. I have noticed improvement on mid corner control and corner exit.
