    Nice and neat, as always Four X. Been considering these for PS1 & Saturn. Need to tinker with my DreamCast first.

      Thanks Dermot, I can highly recommend it, I'll be getting one for all my systems. Just waiting for Consoles Unleashed it get them in stock (chip shortage) and update his website so he can accepting payments again.

    Question: for someone who plays exclusively on a CRT using RGB for video output, this discrepancy of about 1% between the frequencies should not be too noticeable, right? Isn't it more a concern for newer LCD televisions?

    Nice one! You should also do an MFO (multiple frequency oscillator) mod on a scph-7xxx PlayStation that has a PLL instead of just a crystal. That also outputs correct subcarrier frequencies for NTSC and PAL. Also a small correction: vertical refresh rate for NTSC is 59,94 hz (fields per second), not 60

      I've seen the MFO for the 7000 series PlayStation and it looks sweet. To be honest I not intersted in the correct sub-carrier frequencies as we generally output RGB over SCART here in the UK and for sync I use sync on luma, seeing as the sub-carrier frequencies are mainly to generate Composite Video it's not an issue for me.

      @provato8 Рік тому

      @@Four_X Yeah, you're right, composite is hideous compared to RGB/SCART, but subcarrier frequency is also used in S-Video which is a pretty damn good video output signal! your scph-1xxxx series doesn't have a problem anyway, because the GPU generates the correct SCF (PAL~4.43/NTSC~3,79) from the main frequency/crystal that your DFO already provides!! ;)

      @@Four_X Subcarrier frequencies are for ALL encoded analog video formats, that also includes RF, composite, s-video, and component video.
      RGB isn't NTSC or PAL because it is a direct discrete signal, there is no encoding or decoding.

    Can you please make a detailed video of how to install the dual Frequency oscillator on a playstation 100x PU8. Great video's, very helpful 👍

    If I want to play PS1 NTSC game on my PAL PS2 SCPH-39004. Do I need some similar mod for PS2? Does PS2 is working at the correct rate when playing PS1 or PS2 NTSC games?

    I don't understand a lot of this stuff😅 but I was able to mod my 1002 with an oscillator from a donor 1001 board since my PU8 has the extra solder pads intact.

    Did you call the OSSC the "Old School Scan Converter"?! I like that ^-^

    Well, you could just buy an NTSC console, and call it a day :D

    • @Four_X
      @Four_X  Рік тому +3

      Yep I could do that but if I used your logic I'd have to spend £50+ on a US PlayStation, import charges to the UK, £50 on a UK to US Mains step-down converter, £90 for a X-Station and £15 for an IGR Board. Or, or I can spend £15 on a DFO and have the same GPU clock (speed) as a NTSC system.

      @GTAManRCR Рік тому +1

      @@Four_X You actually won't need the main step-down converter. You could replace the PSU in the NTSC PS1 from a PAL console and it would work
