I was collecting classical music in the 2000s, and knew then that I had not picked up Opus 95 but had the other 15. I never got around to hearing the f minor and I forgot about it. Now I am hearing it this week for the first time and am enjoying it. I will have to listen to several versions to get a feel for it. Thanks for this. A nicely paced performance. Must get back into my collection now that I am retired.
NUNCA!!!
This quartet underlines some issues that Beethoven was addressing at that time, for instance the use of Neapolitan sixth (region) as a structural tool, but also forecasts some features questioned in the so-called "third manner", as in the second movement.
@@ArielQuartet yes - I am really sorry about my remark (made a year ago). Every movement is utterly amazing. It is my favourite quartet now and has been for a while. It is remarkable in every way. The greatest of all quartets (as good as Schubert's number 15, maybe better). I also love number 8 very very much. Maybe more than op 95. But that is new for me- another story...p.s. there is a great masterclass on the Serioso quartet on Yt by someone called bruce adolphe.
Not being well versed in the classics but curious ..... I was listening to this thinking, 'This sounds *really* strange - But their coordination & energy is spectacular'. THEN I realised I'd come from an explanatory 'speach only' video and left the setting at x2 speed 🙄

Glad you came across it!
Excellent. The first violin is rather exceptionnal!
This one is just as good as Ludwig's quartet in A minor they have on UA-cam as well. This group kills it.
Thanks so much for your kind words!
@@ArielQuartet I love y'all. You're excellent

You do it superb guys!! This Beethoven SQ is my most beloved along with Razumovsky 1, Harp and 16 "Muss es sein".
Thank you. Be here to following you.

Played with such joy and love!
God bless Ariel and Beethoven
Ludwig Always in our hearts.
So beautiful! Thank you!
My favorite of all the 16.
So much energy! I love your performance!!
I often wonder if Beethoven's substitution of Serioso for Scherzo in the 3rd movement may have, somewhat ironically, actually been a joke on his part.

Terrific! Seeing them on the 27th.
Very dramatic... fully emotional feeling.
1st and 4th movements are amazing. The other ones? Like Lou Reed's later work.
Hahaha
