@@IzraelRM wow damn, it thought he drew the eyes big, the actual model's eyes are actually bigger xD he kinda aged up the model with smaller eyes and thinner nose.
This is the best tutorial I’ve ever watched.. I was stuck with overblending and never actually putting into the shadows and highlights until it was kinda too late...
THANK YOU - for a simple, no-nonsense tutorial that does not take an hour and complicate things. For beginners, those tutorials are too overwhelming. What you have described here is contouring and highlighting, and we all know what those are, so this is an awesome tutorial. I appreciate the way you have shown how to do this.
Was overwhelmed watching this the first time probably because I'm a total beginner in digital art. Watched it a few times and finally picked some ideas.
I’ve seen a dozen videos on youtube where they just start painting and don’t explain anything. This 1 minute video was the most helpful! Thank you, good sir!
I must say: this is one of the best tutorial I've ever seen. So direct and helpful. It teaches way better than 90% of the tutorial out there in 90% less time. Awesome!

I don't think I can thank you enough for this. I've been battling with the face part of a painting for 2 weeks for a commission due on 3 days. I just finished the face in 20 minutes with this an it looks INSANE.. you are amazing for this you literally saved me
One of the greatest tutorials I've seen. Everything you need to know, step by step with nothing unnecessary in-between. Super easy to understand and tought me how to make clipping masks happen. Thanks.
Thank you! There's a saying that goes "if you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough". Such a short, sweet explanation. Easy to grasp. I love it!
Bruh I’ve been trying to digital portrait paint for two years and have given up every time and returned to my usual art styles, but after watching this I painted my first one and I’m so proud!!! I’m not done yet I still have to paint the clothes but the face made me super excited cause it actually turned out well!
These type of tutorials are nice for beginners or those looking for faster method! There are plenty of these tutorials already but I'm not complaining considering they are extremely helpful! Thank you very much!
Wait this was so quick and easy to follow! I expected a twenty-minute tutorial, actually. I have learned how to use draw light better now! Awesome content, as usual, Mr. Agbadi!
Honestly, it depends on personal taste. Some do great paintings with only one or a few brushes. Others like to use tons of brushes but for very specific textures so it ends up being more of a visual dialect they "speak" but the base is still usually only a few brushes. Try new things, note what works, but don't force yourself using things that don't work, Don't overthink it, you'll develop your own visual dialect, aslo known as style, over time
this is exactly what i plan to do. i just posted my first art tutorial ever on semi-realistic eyes and i try to make it easy to follow and simple and i really wanna do skin next. consider checking it out and telling me what you think? i'd appreciate it more than you know :D
Great! I've never see a tutorial so simple( and fast ) as this. I actually know all of that, though. But I always forget it( because I have a bad habit of staying for months without painting, and my memory is quitte bad when it comes to art ).So, this tutorial is great for remembering the basics of coloring skin whenever I forget it. ( sorry for bad english )
WOW. I had a problem where everytime I tried to make the picture look 3D by adding the shadows and lights on the skin, everything would just smudge together and look horrific and still 2D..this video is a blessing for that issue! It might not have looked perfect at the end in your video but you clearly hurried it up just to give us an example and the result is clearly still there to show how and that it does work. very cool and simple video (even though if someone wants to actually use it and isn't fluid in the program they will have to stop a bunch of times xD ) still worth though! thanks! (also I don't see a problem in you using a reference since we only learn how things work by staring at them. aka where light hits ,same with shadows and how the body bends and so on. so references will most likely help to memorize things a bunch faster for the future)
Simple, yet effective. Gotta have an understanding on how reality looks to get where you want to place those shadows and make them look real. Great job as awlays Mohammed!
This is so short and to the point! And no “sub to the channel!” And all that extra gunk. Plus its pretty easy to understand and I learned so much in just one minute. Thank you! 💕
You make it look so easy! Perhaps I should try practicing with reference for a while-- I always get stuck on figuring out what the character's features would look like. Thanks man!
new sub! Thanks for all your videos, they make me feel a lot better about getting back into art after many years hiatus. My first drawing tablet arrives next week and I'm really nervous about starting digital art, but these are a good confidence boost. I know I'll get there one day.
why cant you show all interface? Like when you smooth the transitions... you do it in the same shadow layer... wish a brush? witch tool are you using? Did you changed the color? When I try it it gets darken than the original, because of multiply. How do you find the right color to make a transition between mid and shadow?
Lmao, Im already using this "lazy" method without knowing it... So thats mean im already a lazy artist since couple years ago before this video come out... Lmao Btw i love your art tutorial video
I love it simple and to the point tutorial !! The hardest thing to do when painting is controlling edges work , some time when we have a lot of soft edges our painting becomes blurry , and when using to much hard edges it becomes stiff , how do u know when we should use hard and soft edge's ? Hope you're going to make video about edge's tutorial in a future 🙏 like this one ,
Awesome tutorial. I have watched so many, and I am good at digital and traditional painting and drawing, but there is always some little thing that someone can teach you. This one id one of those tutorials. I didn't know the attach layer part.
My biggest problem is not being able to block in the shadows like you should do for the first "round" of rendering. I always start detailing and blending too early and get lost in the detail, then frustrated that the big picture doesn't look as I want it. I think I'll need about 132 more videos showcasing blocking in like this before it sinks in 🤓
Also we want to see your "hard-working" approach the cool comic type with the fancy colours rim light, ambient occlusion, layer arrangements and layer masks .... EVERYTHING!!!
I'm guessing neither. At some point he says use a soft round brush to blur. So he uses the brush tool to create new transitions rather than try and create blur with specific tools. From what I saw of other professional artists this seems to be the preferred method as the blur and smudge tools tend to give a very distinct digital look to the piece. It's also just more reliable to use our own understanding of transitions than ask the computer to guesstimate how to spread the colours to create a good transition.
@@MohammedAgbadi Oh yes I've seen some of his work ! Wouldn't have known he uses the smudge tool if you hadn't told me. Just goes to show you that with enough understanding and practice you can really make good art with anything.
