Excellent solution - I bought a used drive shaft from a local salvage yard (grade A) and had the shop install. $90 for the drive shaft + $75 in labor saved me some $$ Thank you for this video!
Your a really smart man saving that customer hundreds of dollars. Thanks for that awesome video.
I rebuilt a GM (Holden) driveshaft a couple of years ago & it still had a vibration off the mark on acceleration, it ended up being a sagging rear transmission mount which was the cause.
Even though my car has the Chevy LS1 Engine & T56 Tremec manual transmission, a $23 AUD generic (brand new) mount to suit an automatic 3.8 litre V6 car did the job & got rid of the vibration.
Awesome video ! My wife's 2008 Saturn vue awd at 40 and up the driveshaft is slapping the floor ..exact $ u said at dealer for driveshaft and labour around 1000 plus tax..
This driveshaft sounds like if i hit 60 or 70 plus it's come through the floor..u suppose this is worth a shot for Me? I can do the work myself no prob.
'97 Dodge Dakota 2 wheel drive , noise starts at 40 MPH , not a clicking sound but a high pitch sound that will make your ears ring. would it be the rubber damper ?
2014 ram 6 spd says this rubber piece is inside the transmission. can you explain or point me in the direction to find a diy.
Thanks I will look at those things do you think that is because my truck is lower with 22s would that affect to?
If that centre bearing hanger is off by 1 or 2 mm after installing it, will this cause the drive shaft too vibrate as well?
I have a 2004 jeep liberty and exactly at 50 mph rear tires start jumping. After I pass 55 mph it comes normal. I replaced all shocks absorbers and struts, all 4 tires balanced, all bushings and differential joint replaced, and the problem is still there. And weird thing is, if I lift the truck, this does not happen while is in the air, it only happens when is running at 50 mph exactly. Also checked bearing on all tires and they are still tight. The drive shaft seems not to be the problem since it looks really steday when running. Any idea or suggestions? I may be missing something to check.
thanks man for this I did not know what the phuk was going on
My 1980 plymouth volare has been shaking, bought a set of brand new tires since last ones were bad anyway, bad driver side front wheel bearing replaced.. still shaking. I'm gonna lift her up tomorrow and check the shaft next.
Love the cat!!! Loved 2 of them!!!
Have vibration where gas and brake pedals are located, the front suspension has been complete replaced must be the shaft?
i have the same vibration on my 2016 ram 1500 2wd...can be the same problem ?
What would cause the rubber flex coupler to go bad? I just replaced it like 3 months ago and it went bad again.
I know this videos a few years old but you can get this part at a auto parts store for about $80. You can find them even cheaper online. It's not too difficult of a replacement either.
great video; thanks for saving me a bundle!
Can you tell me what you torque the 6 bolts at on the front of the driveline
Little cat stole the show
Your cats are cool man 🐱🐱
I’ve had a strange vibration in my 2000 Ford expedition 2WD , didn’t know if it might be a piece of rubber that was worn at the end of the driveshaft you never know? If they originally was one or not I didn’t notice one but heck it could’ve dried up and fallen out
I have the same issue in my Nissan Murano.. thanks my dude
Here in States, Advance Auto sells one for Chrysler 300C for about $130 , made in Germany by Febi. Could help some guys. Thanks for video Rich.
I’m told that 2009 Dodge Challenger needs coupler drive shaft replacement. How do I make sure that correct?
Love the cats and good explaining
2wd 2008 Dakota has that same feeling vibrations start at 38 mph, then a him that echoes thru the cab, more of a groaning sound and shake clear up past 50; took it to a "reputitable " drive line shop, told me its fixed at the tune of $1100, no its not, it will be back come Monday!
good video. I have a 2006 silverado 1500 4x4 that vibrates only in the speed range of 45-52. It vibrates whether accelerating, coasting or braking. It started after having a 6.5 inch lift installed by a shop. I have installed new rims, tires, wheel hubs, tie rods, pitman and idler arms, and 2 u joints to my rear drive shaft and no luck. I am going to put new ball joints on it. What do you think it could be? Thanks in advance!
paint3ball when they lifted the truck I'f they didn't shim the carrier bearing or pitch of the shaft , it will cause vibration .
Question I have 2011 DJ anytime I hit 40mph it vibrant once I pass 40mph it stop also when I am going uphill and I try to keep up speed pass 60mph it vibrant then stop. My ABS light and traction control is on I took it to 2 different shop the dealer being one them both rear hub and ABS where replaced but never solved the problem car drive in front drive instead of AWD. Any help or suggestion
Is this the same as a prop shaft?
Hey man I would like to know if you can help me I have 2005 Chevy Silverado when it hits 70 I feel a little vibrating on the truck not the staring wheel but the door panels and when I hit same path hole the whole truck shake bad side ways can you help me what could be thank you a lot ?
The vibration would lead me to thinking its u-joints but if the entire truck shakes when you hit a pot hole, I would look at the steering and ball joints. With the truck off, have someone shake the steering wheel back and forth quickly and look at all the steering connections. They should move at the same time. For the ball joints, jack up under the front and grab the tire at the top and bottom and rock it back and forth. There should not be any play.
Would this be the same coupler
hi i have bmw320i and just change the transmission but i hear now noise at car center in high speed like werwerwerwer plz advice
+adel mostafa I need a little more info like standard or auto, new transmission or used etc. Im not that familiar with BMW. Is it rear wheel drive, front or AWD? Does it make the noise in all gears or just one? All speeds or certain speeds? Does the noise follow the road speed or the engine speed?
I have a 05 mazda tribute awd..it starts vibrating at 45 miles per hour the faster I go the harder it vibrates would it be in the driveshafts?
Could be, or could be tires off balance, overinflated, uneven... a lot of possibilities
can i run my journey with out the rear drive shaft for a week ?
So just out of curiosity how did that work out for you
i know you probably get asked these things all the time, but i have vibrations in my 2009 ford fx4 no matter what speed im going but it does seem to smooth out at 60+mph. i know it could be a number of things but is this a common issue in trucks with a common solution?
u-joints in the driveshaft
When I see videos like this, I will look at the competition before buying any car/truck you can't get a simple part to fix a simple problem. Car manufacturers are cutting their own throats by building such crap. $15.00 part vs $1000.00 , you do the math. Fuck Dodge!
Hello, I hope I would receive a response as I dont know where else to turn..... I have an 02 Durango with 125,000 miles. Bout 6months ago had the ujoints replaced, solved the issue. Guy that replaced the ujoints said drive shaft is bad needs replaced said its barely hanging on. He said not to put in 4×4. When I get up to anything over 50mph I feel a vibration in the seat I believe is similar to what you explained about the coupler/gasket on the drive shaft going out as you described...... is this the solution to the vibration. The same fix as in this video. Please any and all help would be appreciated.
sounds like it yes
@@DEBOSSGARAGE ok. Thank you. Appreciate your time.
I need help I got stuck in a pothole my truck is lowered one wheel fell in a whole witch made me get stuck after I got the truck out i drove pass 60 and started to shake i don’t know if it’s the drive shaft or something else
MOPAR_LSX _SVT_JDM I’d bet you bent the rim
Yup. Jack up the rear or front and spin that wheel while looking at it. You'll see it
I don't know if you'll answer or not, but it'd be important. Anyway, I have a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle (big mistake), and once I reach past 40-60 it vibrates so badly like the engine will fall out. Could it be the drive shaft? Or is it the CV axle or a motor mount? I have had my tie rods replaced, car aligned, and tires balanced.
+Colby Jack I would be leaning towards a cv joint or engine mount. Does it do it if you put it in neutral and coast at 40-60?
I haven't tried that, but can one do that and not damage the transmission?DEBOSS GARAGE
+Colby Jack It won't hurt anything as long as the engine is still running for short periods.
DEBOSS GARAGE
What do you mean by short periods? I'm sorry, I don't know much about cars.
+Colby Jack just coast in neutral at 40-60 for a short time to see if the shake goes away
Hi, just watched your video and the rubber coupling ( we call them donuts in the uk). Looks very much like a gkn coupling off a Land Rover discovery 2 rear prop. No idea if it's the same. But there about 20 pounds in uk so maybe worth a try. Matt
thanks! if I run into it again, I will look into it 1
someone before me left a socket on the rear u-joint ! would that be enough to throw the drive shaft out of balance ?
Without a doubt!
DEBOSS GARAGE thanks man ! I appreciate what your doing !
What bout 97 dodge dakota
WHEN I RUN OVER THE SMALLEST BUMP MY REAR END WOBBLE, TIRES ARE NEW🤔ANY IDEAS(94 SUBURBAN)
@Walter Payton, my rear end also used to wobble over bumps but it stopped since I started a rigorous exercise routine. :)
Love your cats lol
it was used auto transmission and noise is in high speed not at certin speed spcailly when closrd the window ca not presized where excatly
+adel mostafa rear wheel drive?
Those cats steal the show
Hero guy
can you tell if the coupler is bad without removing the driveshaft?
+brandon Keen Yes, if there is any tear in the rubber, it will have a vibration. If it is u-joints, it is more difficult. The u-joint might be tight at one angle and loose on another. Rust and dust is a definite sign that you have a problem. Squeaks are also a bad sign.
DEBOSS GARAGE Thanks for the info. my 05 maggie rt is giving me the vibe..sigh. Good thing i can replace that rubber piece instead of the driveshaft itself
great cats and video ;-)
Driveshaft flex disk
You can order that rubber piece from 1A auto for about $50
ahahahhahaha $700 from Dodge dealership.... Had the same experience. They're a bunch of shysters! Ask for Front Door Header tape and a couple metric bolts for a laugh the next time you're in the parts area.
Thanks love cats😽😽
Hate it when rubbers let go
$700! Whoa!
anyone notice 2 cats?
I see hidraulic cats..and double me..cat... Nicks
you can buy that rubber for $100 on eBay
link?
DEBOSS GARAGE OK I'll look for the link, but it's related to my car's drive shaft, it busted two days ago and it was that rubber, I looked on line and there it is. my car is 2000 Lexus gs300 with a 2jz gte swap so I needed the driveshaft to fit with the transmission.

Commies!
non serviceable flex coupler?!
Fucking rip off!!!!!!!
Nice fix, buy new one lol
my mechanic has two dogs the most boring and obnoxious dogs perhaps the ugliest you can imagine and they f fart all the time
do you have rodents
?
Man don't pat your cat with those greasy hands. Cats clean themselves with their tongue so when they clean they lick off the automotive grease. Not good.
