Tendon drives seem so much better. Do you think Tesla needs to pivot to Tendon drives everywhere, not just in the hands?
Tesla need to have two model. Heavy (e.g. for factories) and Light (e.g. for home). Elon never misses anything so expect developments from them.
Manufacturing was the outcome and what it took to solve another job accomplished. Making an EV that worked was only part of Elon's plan to get us to using less polluting energy.
No one is obligated to sell their business, nor could Tessy force them to sell. Your suggestion is ridiculous. No one sitting on a multi-trillion dollar market product is going to sell 😂
Risk. You can have a great product but the risk of mass manufacturing is too high for you. You sell.

Or even better, you farm out the manufacturing and keep control of your business. Most manufacturers are contracted by other businesses. Headlight manufacturers arent making products for themselves.

the 1927 film "Metropolis". directed by Fritz Lang, featured a female humanoid robot named Maria.
Really - the robot geeks are dreaming of a 100 year of robot?
The money is never going to be with a humanoid bot
because everyone will view them as a failure in the 1st 10 seconds
they can't run or walk or climb like us
they will always be a disappointment
The money will be with the small swarming bots
No Nobels will be awarded to clunky humanoid bots
but to the ones that we can't even dream of now

Seen C3PO, he's clunks, hands don't look good, can't exactly sprint up the stairs but the brain is sharp, he can reason and think and figure things out. I'll bet a penny to a dollar anyone would sell millions of them if they were sold. Thats how I see Optimus. Clunky isn't the point. If it can reason, it can solve the problem and be useful. Useful is valuable. Value is profit.
