Yessir! I copped it off your vid for the midi implementation bro. Folks ain even paying attention. This saves so much freaking time, and has a great sequencer! For 200! Man I sold that Waldorf strechfeit easy. This is my new lead generator.
For the MIDI problem this may be the usual problem with mini jack MIDI that exists with 2 main standards (A/B) that have reverse polarity between tip and sleeve. If one unit is MIDI A and the other is MIDI B they can't link via mini jack. This of course applies also to the jack/din dongle cables, some are type A and other are type B. I became aware of this problem with the Polyend Tracker seemingly not sending midi to the KORG NTS-1.
I was gonna say exactly this. I have heard others say no issue with the J6 MIDI out jack… so I wonder if it’s a difference in the A vs B type 3.5mm adapters.
I think a lot of ppl don’t use the progressions in the Mpc. You can actually load in midi files and save them as new progressions. Once there you can reuse and change key. Just mentioning as it could save folks some coins...
That trs midi cable adapter thingy looks like the Arturia version? If so, you need the other version, like the one used by Korg, Make Noise etc….the formats aren’t compatible
Hey Ave great demonstration! People have to realize how helpful this new synth is from a midi standpoint, not just a sound module! Will definitely be picking this one up.
I never even thought sbout this gear until this video came on from the autoplay as i was researching roland juno synths. I cant believe i was sleeping on what is essentially a handheld battery powered juno 60 replica that specializes in chords and chord progressions, and has a sequencer for $200! I bought this instantly after seeing this vid! One of the best purchases ive made.
I ran into the same problem with the midi adapters... those white and grey breakouts are from Arturia and won't work, but the one that came with the Moog Subharmonicon does. I don't know which is type A or B tho. But it defiantly works with my TR8S. Even the run button syncs up... the only thing I couldn't do is have it sync while the Moog Grandmother is daisychained between them. I think the synth doesn't pass through the clock while triggering the chords. Might try a sync out cable
The Roland J-6 immediately became one of my favorite musical instruments ever, and I haven't even used it yet. It sounds phenomenal especially for the type of music I write. I love all of its features too. You're gonna be hearing it (or at least its patterns) in a lot of my future work. Nearly 10 years ago I was using an app called Suggester to generate chord ideas, and of course I use the MPC's progression tool. The Roland J-6 is the hardware I needed all this time. It's mind boggling how this device could have haters. Thanks so much for showing this off, Ave.

Has anyone seen if Roland updated the ability to use 3.5mm to 5-pin midi out? I'm gonna buy it if it has that. Need it for my hardware synth so I can pair them both with the sp404 mk2 so I can go dawless!
I really wonder why when you mute the pads in pad mute, it immediately cuts off the reverb tail of the sound/pad you are muting, but if you mute the tracks, the reverb tail will still play through when you mute the track 1, 2, 3, etc with the 16 sounds...Does anyone know if there is a way to allow the reverb to continue on pad mute even after muting a sound? This is really weird why one does it, and the other doesn't? I want both of them to allow the reverb to continue. I really don't like how the pad mute cuts off the reverb or delay of the sound immediately when you mute it. I know it sounds like complaining, but any other synth/drum machine that I have used let's the reverb continue or play out after muting? I'm so used to it, and it just doesn't sound right cutting the sound's reverb off...SBN RESONATE

Hey Ave, the J-6 seems to be a golden Cow for Roland. That's fire,I just purchased the J-6
Yes 3,5 mm midi out works perfectly fine! Roland uses 3,5 mm Type A which now is standard… Still some like Arturia and Novation uses Type B…
I’m older lol so my 4 track HS days o we but I did try and make beats a few years back and bought a Arturia Micro and a Volca Beats and it was like my 808 lol… Real talk your beat is nice too! I rock with just two modules myself. I rock with ya Ave’
Roland will forever be the best they been they sound of our life from hip hop house to drum n bass and so on.big up ave ima bout to order mine now.
Yeah I keep forgetting myself
where is the game?
Roland Dropping some Fire Again 🔥⚜️
Their last couple of releases been pretty strong imo
Cool Vid! Yeah, I was thinking of buying the J-6 and/or the E-4 Voice Tweaker. Looking at the vid, I can't tell if you're one huge dude, or if the J-6 is just redonkulously tiny! 😂
6’6” 240 but it’s pretty small
I just ordered the little machine. In Germany, however, 229 Euros, it doesn't matter. I'm looking forward to experimenting with it on the MPC, thank you very much. Good idea.
I’d pay $300 for this and still be happy. I seen it’s sold out again
I'm always looking for chords that aren't forbidden, it's not that easy, maybe the little machine makes it a little easier? I'm surprised.
Ave that is the coldest ring I've ever seen bro
you cant controll it with an external midi sequncer should have worked with the usb but doesnt so you can only play it into your daw and its made to complicated
Roland is killing the game. There was a time when I had given up on them, but ever since they dropped the new Fantom and the Jupiter-X its felt like Roland is under new management!! I don’t know what TE is thinking…maybe they only need to sell less than 500 units to make a profit.
Roland is on a tear. I haven’t talked about Roland cloud yet.
I need one! Such a sick beat at the beginning!
Thanks
I don't have anything constructive to add, but, you're awesome man!
This helped me make my purchase today. I was considering the JU-06A, but for the price and features, I’d be a fool not to try this first.
How are they out of stock@ guitar center roland 😴
Smooth brother!
Haven't been too impressed with Roland lately but this is NIIIIICE.
