There is plenty of space over the entry for a nice helix after the final drop. And in the same vein, Twisted Colossus has room for a nice helix before the second lift. And that would give more load time for the train in the station so trains can race.
Leviathan: World's longest break run Orion: Hold my beer Also with Behemoth, they only activate the first trim and it's not that heavy, the other two are never on. I still can't believe after 12 years, people still think all three are on lol.
Yeah you're right, Behemoth only runs with one trim on at a time. Sometimes on colder days the trim on the last hill is turned on instead of the first hill which means that the two hills before are trimless.
+1 for Buzz Killington mention I’ll always remember Goliath before the ultra-trims. It didn’t used to slow down so much, what is it traveling, maybe 5-10mph after the trims? It used to be more like 25-30, and that Helix was far more intense.
@Alyssa Bennett So pretty much to change the ride they ripped out all thematic elements and added in some neon lights. It's one of the worst and cheapest refurbs I've ever seen Disney do. And especially in this day and age that's saying something.
I actually like the straight track on ride of steel simply because the airtime hill really pays off. You're building up so much energy that when you go over the hill, you get a huge airtime boost
i personally love the ending on full throttle partially because of the break run. without it, the ride wouldn’t send you soaring out of your seat nearly as much. great video nonetheless!
the feeling of getting absolutely pulled apart by that brake run is so surreal. makes me feel like I'm in a dragster that just pulled the chute--which I guess is what they were going for? Nuts. Never had an experience quite like it. Rapid deceleration can be just as thrilling as rapid acceleration.
On the Ride of Steel clones, the straight track is a fun moment to throw your arms up and relax before a great moment of airtime on that next giant hill
Mathew’s Coaster Vids exactly, there’s always something to appreciate about all of these “buzzkills”. Brake runs increase total ride capacity and get you through the line a little faster, these weird track moments are all quirks that haven’t been repeated since they were built and offer some individualism where a lot of these rides are becoming formulaic.
Levithan's final brake run was intended to be a mid-course brake run followed by a final brake run as it levels off in the station. So technically it makes sense why it's so high and so long (as trains are easier to slow down when it's higher.) and also it's also the reason why Levithan can run with 3 trains, otherwise it would be run by 2 trains. And also Behemoth's only uses one trim from the amount of times I've been on there. Which is usually the first hill after the hammerhead turn.
My home park has Goliath’s better twin, titan and it’s fun, but that turnaround after the drop gets rid of almost all momentum, and don’t even get me started on those mid-course brakes. But it is a overall fun and intense coaster worth riding when you visit the park.
I have to disagree with you on the Superman Ride of Steel straight track. This is one of my favorite parts of the ride as you are just speeding through the air without losing much speed, and its awesome. The whole point of the ride is the speed and airtime.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the trim on top of Lightning Rod. With all that momentum, I thought we were going to get some killer air only for the train to just slow down.

Interesting about Wicked Cyclone... the Original Cyclone's last lap was a wimper as well.. It was actually warmly welcomed because that wooden coaster was actually an insane ride. It looks fairly tame in POV's, but they severely reduced the first drop about 5-10 years before it's final year. The first drop used to be huge in conjunction with the first banked turn.
The first airtime hill on I305 is borderline ejector. And I always get good floater air on the trimmed airtime hill and the hill after that. It's just the vest restraints make it harder to notice. And call me crazy but I love flying into Levi's brakes at full speed, it makes the ride feel like it packed more of a punch than having it die down and crawl into the brakes like some other B&M hypers
The brakes on the drop of Full Throttle isn't the only thing I didn't like about the last part of the ride. On that airtime hill (I sat close to the front and back) I get basically ZERO airtime. You just kinda awkwardly glide on it. But this is coming from someone who thought Goliath at the same park had a lot of forceful elements apart from the helixes after the brake run.
I love your videos so much and I am back-watching all of them because they are quality. The Buzz Killington pops officially put you was the best UA-cam channel, like of all topics and genres.
For whatever reason the trim on I305 didn't remove the airtime from those 2 kills. I remember getting strong airtime on those, close to the level that Twisted Timbers was giving. I'm going to disagree on the straight track of Ride of Steel too; its a nice fast section which allows for some recovery after the previous intense helix, and builds anticipation for the amazing airtime hill on it. The second helix is a bigger buzzkill just due to how forceless it is. How the hell is Alpengeist's mid course not on this list? That thing ruins the second half of the ride. It goes from being a very intense coaster to a very boring one once it hits the brakes. Some argument could be made for Afterburn's Hill as well, although honestly I didn't think that the ride had that much intensity or great of pacing to begin with. But the ride does get worse after that point.
Alpengeist midcourse was only running horribly slow at the beginning of last year, i think they fixed it. It actually made for some good hangtime on the final inversions tho
Funny how perspective can change ones opinion. The buzz kill moment on the ride of steel clones you describe is actually a favorite of mine. I agree it’s way too long of a straight track, but this is a favorite moment of mine because it reminds me of hitting a big jump on my snowmobile. It’s just in the difference of the transition from straight flat track into that beautiful air time hill versus the normal more parabolic curve. I think because of the difference in how you enter that air time hill from straight and flat you really get slammed with a lot of positive G’s at the bottom of the airtime hill it feels awesome. For me the double helixes ruin that coaster...
The backwards section on Th13teen at Alton Towers would definitely be on this list if you ride it. The drop-track before it is really cool, then it just crawls through the backwards section. I think the drive tyres that take you back into the station are faster! 😂
Twisted Colossus wouldn't be a buzzkill if Magic Mountain had built two stations in the conversion. If they had done that, they could've done what Kennywood does with Racer: Wait until both trains are clear for dispatch and the trains always get to duel
For me the Disney coaster Everest starts getting really good towards the end but brakes way to early ugh. If it had 10-15 more seconds it would be better and with steeper drops lol
I definitely disagree with iron rattlers quarry section as when I was there it didn’t seem to lose much speed on the quarry and it was faster through the ending
Texas Giant's last lap offers some decent airtime, but I think 2 of the elements along that lap tend to fall a bit short. Could have probably used 10 more feet.
As someone who is extremely late to this video, I am proud to say that Goliath at Six Flags over Georgia is my hyper. I have ridden in the front, middle, and back, and it's a great ride practically anywhere. Luckily we don't have a mid course brake run, but I will say this. I think that is one of very few coasters where riding the front is insane. I still think the back is better, but the front row has something special about it. It pulls a lot of forces on that first drop.
Or all of the RMC's *STUPID SHIN GUARDS!!* WHY?! WHAT IS THE POINT IN SHIN GUARDS!? HOW DO THEY MATRTHE RIDE MORE SECURE!? They accomplish almost nothing but trapping my legs! That is why I prefer the Gerthslier trains because they only have one shin guard so at least one leg is free. I love RMC, but I don't know why they have shin guards. If you know why they exist, please tell me, so I may forgive the shin guards.
@@Stephenp503 I think it's to restrict your legs so the trains can be shorter and negotiate tighter turns. If you want freedom try Mack launch trains. The lapbar feels like it isn't even there and your feet are off the floor unless you're tall (sometimes being under five seven is worth it, haha).
@@Stephenp503 Those are important for safety -- the rider's legs need to be forced into being bent, to prevent the rider from being able to slip upwards out of the restraints. On most rollercoasters, the restraint is only there to get patrons to sit down -- even if the restraints weren't there, physics would hold riders in (the airtime is either gentle or short enough that the rider would land back in the seat). This is NOT the case on RMCs, and so the lapbar has to actively hold the rider in, a duty it doesn't have on most other rollercoasters.
Ok so imagine this. The second life hill on twisted colossus is a buzzkill right, well what if rmc came back to magic mountain and speeded up the second lift. Then they added a launch to the first one. So you get a launch the first time, and a faster lift hill the second time. Tell me that wouldn’t be a good idea...
You are spot on with this. I agree 100%. One left off is the Beast at Kings Island. After the first hill, tunnel, then curve to the left. There is another hill with great speed and air time. They now have a break before that hill and kills it. No more speed and air. Great video

@@AirtimeThrills I rode it late 2018 and that ride was crawling into the brakes.
The Buzz Killington was a 15/10 addition to this awesome video.
Are you sure it’s 15
Last time was 12
Had to check. But yep
Great video! I agree with Adventure Express and Diamondback on the list!
I mean these parts are upseting but they are still good coasters
Funny how perspective can change ones opinion. The buzz kill moment on the ride of steel clones you describe is actually a favorite of mine. I agree it’s way too long of a straight track, but this is a favorite moment of mine because it reminds me of hitting a big jump on my snowmobile. It’s just in the difference of the transition from straight flat track into that beautiful air time hill versus the normal more parabolic curve.
I think because of the difference in how you enter that air time hill from straight and flat you really get slammed with a lot of positive G’s at the bottom of the airtime hill it feels awesome.
For me the double helixes ruin that coaster...
i have another one: maxx force’s track length
Awesome job on this vid! One of your best concepts and very well executed my friend! Keep up the awesome work!
The backwards section on Th13teen at Alton Towers would definitely be on this list if you ride it. The drop-track before it is really cool, then it just crawls through the backwards section. I think the drive tyres that take you back into the station are faster! 😂
Th13teen in general is just a very weird ride, it never has a lot of momentum and it has brakes on the first drop
Th13teen is a glorified kiddie coaster
OMG yes it makes no sense. Them trims on the first drop are so sad . It would be a good drop otherwise
“Not sure if that would be safe, but I’d still like to see it” 😂😂
the second lift hill on jaguar turns it into an intermediate ride as opposed to a high thrill ride, which it was designed to be
I dont think it was ever supposed to be a high thrill ride
for some people it is
Pr0fessor XD *cough cough* my cousin who started crying on pony express
That final drop on Full Throttle is really something else. Such a conflict of "YES" and then "Aww...."
I think the trims on the Intimidator coasters are there because they’re the coaster versions of NASCAR Restrictor plates.
"The west doesn't know how to do hypers."
Mamba is actually a pretty good ride in my opinion
Yeah it’s the best of Morgan’s traditional hypers
The I 305 one should be higher because your still going 60 mph
Seeing volcano in the background of the intimidator almost made me cry
I definitely disagree with iron rattlers quarry section as when I was there it didn’t seem to lose much speed on the quarry and it was faster through the ending
Seriously! It has way more speed on the quarry than anyone says it does
CoasterCraziness that is so true
Probably depends on if it's warmed up
I love the Family Guy clips. They fit pretty well!
Kinda surprised Texas Giants last elements weren’t on here. On IRAT the turns are fun and the airtime hill after the inversion is surprisingly strong.
Seriously! Super underrated
Texas giants last lap is similar to WiCy but i dont think its quite as slow
Really liked using those family guy clips didn’t you
You cant have too many FG clips
Hey Lois
puppetuppers shut up meg
As someone from the UK who likes coasters but has never been to America, I am amazed by Full Throttle's loop/hill
The biggest buzzkill really was Ring Racer.
For operating coasters I choose Naga Bay’s mid courses which are slowing you way to much down.
I've been in RipRide Rockit twicce (years apart) and the mid course break runs never stopped the train at all
I can only imagine going flying after that maverick launch.
I agree with you on mystic timbers and diamondback, but with maverick, nothing was lost for me! From start to finish, this coaster delivers for me.
Biggest buzzkill : comfort collars on wcr
I cannot stop watching your videos lately, you’ve done so many unique lists and they’re super interesting!
this is cool and all, but Carole Baskin DID kill her husband.
?
Anything Coasters why 😂😂😂
Anything Coasters 😂
Anything Coasters wut
for anyone confused: look up her name or "tiger king"
I have to thank you for being the UA-camr that has given me the most coaster knowledge 🙏
I’d argue X2’s turnaround is worse than Ghostrider’s non existent trims
The turnaround could have been on here for sure
SUCH ORIGINAL CONTENT! I love it!
I’m so glad someone mentioned the intimidator 305 one. It kills it.
9:55 you officially offended me by dissing on the greatest hyper coaster designer.
You are spot on with this. I agree 100%. One left off is the Beast at Kings Island. After the first hill, tunnel, then curve to the left. There is another hill with great speed and air time. They now have a break before that hill and kills it. No more speed and air. Great video
Never felt the trims on GCI Ghostrider. I was absolutely flung out of my seat on that drop. The real complaints I hear are that the new reprofiling isn't as good as the original.
They are totally smoking, bc the GCCI Ghostrider is the best it's ever run.
@@gregcharles3240 Apparently it's less intense now, but I still get flung out on that drop, so it's still absolutely amazing
@@hellacia8151 Heck yeah, The Best "Wooden" coaster in the West. Thankfully it got it's recognition in the Golden Ticket awards as the #6 best wooden coaster.
@@gregcharles3240 What do you mean "wooden"? It's not like an arrow hybrid or ibox
@@hellacia8151 Just to separate from say the best coaster in the west, because the best coaster in the west is Twisted Colossus.
Those family guy clips were hilarious and fit the video perfectly 😂👍
Tbh I didn't really think the brakes on Rip Ride Rockit slowed me down at all.. Also, I don't think Irat has pacing issues, maybe that's just because I'm a Texas coaster fanboy though, lol.
6:06 honestly i expected the terrifying stomach dropping feeling on silver bullet but i was relieved it was a calm drop.
Maverick would over speed
I TOTALLY agree about Full Throttle. Just let me enjoy this amazing drop! Ugh... Seriously, I would love to hear the ride designers conversations during planning. "Hey Mark, great final drop, let's put a break run on it."
