Only by the grace of God did I get that damn filter off by hand lol I really need one of those wrenches! This video is awesome thanks! 2013 xover here.
I would pull up the carpets a bit and see if you can see if its damp underneath their; you may have to remove the inside plastic piece from the kick panel. I would start first under the passenger dash, there is a hose that connects to the HVAC box to drain condensation from the A/C outside to the vehicle; you can see the hose from underneath the vehicle, check to see if its plugged. Also, if you had a recent windshield replacement that could be a source as well. Hope this help. Thanks for watching.
Great question; the reason I use 0W-30 is because it has better flow characteristics in the very cold, i.e., it will flow quicker/easier, yet in the summer time it will maintain the 30 rating. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
You raise an excellent question, I decided to use the Amsoil 75W-110 as it replaces 75W-90 and 80W-90 gear oils, offering better viscosity protection than 90 and better fuel efficiency than 140 (also better flow in cold than 80W). Nevertheless, I would recommend sticking to what the manual recommends. Thank you for watching.
Great video, my 2010 sx4 when turning key dash lights up but no crank. If i turn key few times i get it to start right up. New battery and starter and a code PO335. Any ssuggestion please?
I just googled it and it comes up with a crankshaft position sensor, however, that will not cause a no crank condition, I would first check the battery, load test, and terminal connections before going any further, if those check out okay, I would check the ignition switch. It is possible you have two separate issues. You can also post your query to the SX4 forums as well, I have not heard of any CPS (crank shaft position sensor) issues on these vehicles. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the video. I'm wondering if I can find somewhere a video or informations talking about the greasing points. If you have an idea where I can find that sort of information, it would be very helpful.
Great video. I'm having trouble taking off that plastic engine cover, was hoping u would show that. But can u tell me how to remove it please? I know I gotta take off the oil cap and I think I saw 1 screw and than I started yanking on it but it didn't budge so I left it for another day lol. Next time I'll just have to pull untill it comes off or breaks, for the spark plugs. Its the same cover that u have there.
The cover just pulls off, grab it on each end and then pull up on it, no screws holding it down; there is a small round hose that you have to disconnect that comes from the air cleaner housing to under the cover; I would recommend putting some silicone grease on the holding rubber tabs when the cover is off, it will make removal easier the next time. Thank you for the watching and the positive feedback.
Would it be detrimental to the cooling system if I used blue Mitsubishi coolant? I was at Canadian tire and they had two blue options.one had Subaru in the list and the other had Mitsubishi. I chose the Mitsubishi just because I believe in Canada we can take our Suzuki’s to any Mitsubishi dealership (if someone was inclined to).
Excellent question! I phoned Recochem and they couldn't quite tell me what the difference between Blue I and II were, if you go onto their website [oemeasymatch.com/] then you will be able to compare both and they both meet the same specifications. Honestly, I don't think you need to worry, what I would recommend is to keep with the Mitsubishi, i.e., Blue II coolant if that is what is in their now. Thanks for watching! Long live the SX4's!!! :)
are you reffering to the ratchets or the socket extensions? the 3/8 inch plug tool is by Mac Tools, i give the part number in the video, other then that, you can just use any brand of tool, the lengths of the extensions and sizes are noted in the video as well; i hope i was able to answer your questions; thank you for watching.
i hand tightened my filter, it's a fram & that's recommended with their filters. you got to really ram your hand down in there & give her the business, make sure everything is cooled down 1st. You will bleed a little if you got a huge mitt
The filter on the 07 is a dream. The person who designed the 2011 should burn in hell. I’ve used several tools to tighten it/get it off. The cap wrench on the Fram is totally hit and miss. I ended up using the filter pliers on it but could’ve possibly punctured or damaged the metal on the cheaply made Fram. FYI: 17mm for the 07 SX4. Parting note: Get that filter on the 2011 as tight as you can. Just don’t get stupid with it.
Would you happen to know where the A/C condensation drain on your SX4 is? I'm currently dealing with an issue where the condensation drain line for the A/C appears to be clogged. Water has accumulated on the other side of the passenger side glovebox and now drips down onto the inside of the car. I've heard from other SX4 owners that if you can get some pressurized air in the A/C port, you can potentially blow out the blockage and drain the water, but I can't locate the port for the life of me. Thank you for the very indepth video, regardless.
If you pause the video at 7:12, you can see the right-angled rubber drain hose for the A/C, it should be quite visible under the vehicle; in the inside of the vehicle you might need to peel back the carpet, but you will find the other end there. Earlier SX4's did not have a cabin filter, rather they just had a plastic "cheese" looking insert, you can remove that and install a proper cabin filter. I would clean the drain out from the inside of the vehicle, it may be clogged with tree and other debris disabling from draining the A/C condensate water and causing it to drain on the floor. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of any additional help.
This video was helpful in some of my repairs. However, I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to remove and replace the alternator without removing the intake manifold?
Unfortunately, I cannot offer any suggestions/tips as I have not replaced one yet, however, from reading the forum (suzukiforums.com) the best way is to remove the intake manifold, as time consuming it may be. Sorry I wasn't much help. Thank you for watching.
Jacob Frye your welcome, perhaps the only obvious comment I could offer is to verify that the new alternator works (bench test) because of the labour intensive work needed to remove and replace.
Jacob Frye that sounds great ! :). Would I be pushing my luck if I could ask you to perhaps post a short video when you complete the replacement offering some advice to us SX4 owners in case we have to replace our alternators?
I haven't experienced the symptoms that you mention, however, I would check a few things: scan the vehicle with a scan tool and make sure there are no misfires, check the fuel trim levels, change the spark plugs if they have not been changed in a long time, check your air filter and make sure its clean, at the same time carefully clean the mass air flow sensor in the intake tube, also check the motor/tranny mounts for any damage, check the connections at the spark plug coil packs, check your battery/load test (most car parts stores will do this for free) check the main ground wire from the negative battery to the transmission (they tend to corrode badly), check the ground wire from the battery to the chassis (up front, underneath the hood close). Just some ideas, hope this helps and you figure out the problem.
@@nerdylicious1814 No I haven't, however, based on your symptom I would check the rear wheel bearing for noise, I've heard they are a common problem on these SX4's, of course checking the rear diff fluid level should be done as well, hope this helps.
unfortunately I don't have instructions on how to program the remote door opener (I have the same model as you do), but I found the following link below that may be help (the link below states that 2010+ years require dealer programming, but you can try it anyhow) Note: if you need key programming that can only be done at a dealer, thanks for subscribing,www.keylessremotewarehouse.com/suzuki_oem_suzuki_fcc_id_kbrts005_37180_64j00_keyless_remote_entry_transmitter_clicker_beeper_key_fob_keyfob_control_controller_vehicle_car_door_opener_pre_owned_307c_c_p433.htm
zmanvideo1 of course I subscribed I have a 2011 fully loaded SX4 of course I subscribed i'm a maintenance maniac, i'll be doing my rear brakes soon you probably have one up if you don't I need it ha ha thank you
Thank you for subscribing! Unfortunately, I don't have a video on replacing the rear pads/rotors, I did remove them to remove a small rock that had gotten lodged between the caliper bracket and brake pad.I can however, advise that the rear disk brake caliper piston has to be rotated/turned clockwise in order to re-tract so be careful not to just push in the piston; also, the piston and brake pad have a notch that have to be lined up when installing (if I remember correctly).Hope this helps.I too am a firm believer in doing the maintenance items.Do you like your SX4? I love mine, the AWD is great in the winter, I hope Suzuki will come back to North America in the future.
Hi can you put driving lights instead of fog lights on the Sx4 four, LEDs of course did you ever do this, thank you in advance your videos are very helpful
I don't know if you can put driving lights on instead of fog lights, I only have the stock halogen bulbs in my fog lights, honestly, I don't use my foglights all that much, my sx4 did not come with the foglights, I installed them after I purchased the vehicle; I'm glad my videos are helpful, thank you for watching.
It is an actual male square socket is a 10mm. DO NOT use anything else. These male square sockets are available on Amazon and eBay. Wish you showed the actual transfer case drain and fill bolts.
You are most correct; I also have a 10mm square socket, however, I have to use a hammer inorder to fully seat it into the plug, whereas the 3/8 square plug fits in easily with the ever most slight movement. I will definately show the actual fill/drain bolts on my next fluid change. Thank you for watching.
in my opinion, I would cautiously recommend picking up an sx4, my local ex-Suzuki dealer will be carrying parts for a few years, you could definitely get a good price in picking one up due to the brand being orphaned, you could also order parts internationally if needed, for that reason I would not recommend it as a primary vehicle in case the vehicle is down awaiting for parts, thanks for watching
The only cars I can find for sale near me are in Washington State. I really don't need awd here in Arizona, but the extra traction would be nice when we get rain.
Very useful video, and thank you for that. BUT, very poorly produced. Annoying, even nauseating, camera movement. Recommend you redo the video, but employ an INDEPENDENT cameraman while you're demonstrating and talking.
I agree with you, the video production is poor; however, I hope this offsets the information that I provide to Suzuki SX4 owners; in an ideal world I would employ a separate camera person, however, as I state in 51:07 I did not have that option. I will redo the video if a significant number of my viewers/subscribers support your recommendation. Thank you for watching.
