Grand Vitara Oil Filter Replacement
What if mine is brass and it breaks off? How do I fix?
I've included links to 2 videos in the description, they are a great resource in case it breaks off.
So you can use a 1225 on one that has 1222 ?
Unfortunately no, the 1222 is the positemp cartridge, totally different than the 1225 cartridge.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful info. I'm struggling to find fuel filter. Did I miss iy in this videom Would you kindly reply my message?
Страшно нудний
Man!.... I wish I would have seen this video much earlier. Oh well.
I meant to change the cartridge for a few years now, just got around doing it a year ago, I am glad it went well. Thank you for watching.
Great video and quite helpful! Just curious, if you were to have gotten the Honda GX50 engine, would there be any required modifications to the clutch adapter or anything else? Or would the bigger engine fit without modding the scooter? Thank you!
no other modifications would have been required with the Honda GX50 engine; it would have fitted the scooter, I was just worried about the weight and size, the GX35 works great, I don't feel it heavy on the engine side.
Too late. Mine was so greasy, I couldn’t tell it had a rubber bushing until I sprayed it. Welp. Let’s hope for the best! 😂
hoping for the best! : )
Just picked up a monogram series and the fact this is so easy to do is just yet another item on the very long list of reasons I love this car so much. I will never get rid of it, even if it is but a husk that I put in storage somewhere. Thank you for this, appreciate it very much
your most welcome, thank you for the positive feedback! The quality of this video is atrocious, I am using a much better camera now.
You need to do comedy video' not "How To." This was hysterical.
the comedy video would have been if the center stem would have broken into the cartridge, then my extractor to break into the body of the cartridge while trying to extract it, requiring opening the wall and replacing the valve body ;)
You can avoid taking out the shroud, headlight, airbox etc. By holding the converter with a pry bar from the small hole at the bottom of the bellhousing. Saves hours on the job.
thank you for the tip!!
My 2006 suzuki grand vitara..when driving im hearing a squeeky noise in side the vehicle in my rear back .. its definitely not the door or wheel cover!
squeaks can be a challenge to diagnose, I would maybe recommend another person go on a test drive with you and sit in the back, maybe they can pinpoint it, other than that you may need to obtain those remote microphones to pinpoint the noise, hope you find the cause, thanks for watching.
Hey, i need to change this exact part. Do you know what part number it is? Or maybe a link? Thanks?
OE Suzuki Part number: 09283-40029 front differential (right) side output (axle) seal (40X62X8); hope this helps and thank you for watching.
Well i guess i ordered the wrong part twice lol
I ordered the 40039
@@eazzzyfitness Homer Simpson "DOH" moment : ) Hope you get the correct one.
@@zmanvideo1 ok so i double checked, realized the 29 is for the older model, mine is the 2010 GV. Still waiting for the parts, and hope the leak will stop
You talk to much.
Not only did you have every possible tool ready for any possible scenario, you even had a stool to get the job done in style!
LOL, the stool is the most important : ) Thanks for watching!
Did you get it with the gx35 or did you have to source that engine from somewhere else? I think from goped’s website they’ve stoped sales of gp460 scooters and they only offer ones with the 40cc or so Chinese 4 stroke engine. I bought a Chinese pocket bike brand new with one of those engines and I wasn’t a fan because it eventually developed an oil leak on the crankshaft seal, and I didn’t know where to buy parts for that motor.
Because I live in Canada, it is a tedious process to import a scooter that has an engine attached to it; so I purchased the roller GSR46R, without an engine. I purchased the GX35 locally for $655 CAD; I took a look at the Lifan engine it comes with and decided to go with the Honda one, although it as slightly lower horsepower, it has much more torque, plus the Honda's are solid engines. Sorry to hear about your oil leaks. I should mention that I purchased another goped scooter, its the Goped Sport, I purchased the 3rd bearing and clutch adapter, purchased a 2 stroke Zenoah G320 engine (ordered separately from DDM racing), that thing is a rocket ship, I drive my scooters very carefully/slowly and with knee, elbow, wrist guards, and of course a helmet. The GSR36R is way more easier and comfortable to drive. I will post the goped sport assembly shortly.
Does the transfer case have a dip stick?
no it doesn't, the 8 minute mark on the video shows you the fill/check plug; thank you for watching.
How do you remove the intake manifold?
please refer to the video at: 10:10 to 10:35, which bolts to remove from the intake manifold; 36:30 to 40:45, which tools to use to remove the intake manifold; note: the intake manifold will not remove fully unless the fuel rail is removed, however, there is no need to remove the intake, just reposition it out of the way. Hope this helps.
Thank you for this video. I just found that my transfer case has the same leak. Where can I get a copy of the GV service manual?
please send me an email to miscm71athotmaildotcom and I will send the one I have, thanks for watching.
I could tell by your prep you were either a mechanic or machinist lol. Solid work.
LOL, thanks for the compliment....unfortunately neither, just a prepared DIY'er : ) I wanted to avoid a plumbing call at all costs, however, shortly after making this video we had an old copper pipe between a wall give out and had to call a plumber.....cost to repair $1,400 CAD....you just can't win. Thanks for watching.
@@zmanvideo1 I promise you will be surprised how easy soldering copper is if you try. I'd say maybe 40 bucks would get you enough stuff from home Depot to practice. As long as the water is not flowing through the pipe it's a cake walk, especially with your prep. And remember we're all just amateur engineers lol. Thanks for the reply.
@@markkotarski4659 you are absolutely correct Sir, I shall try that! Thanks for the advice!
I thought he was a surgeon.
How many miles did you have on the old shocks if you don't mind I have a 2007 with about 70,000
I replaced the shocks in 2018 with only 14,000 miles on the odometer. I replaced them with OE Suzuki shocks. I just noticed that both rear shocks were seeping and I am in the process of replacing them again, this time I went to rockauto and purchased KYB's. My odometer is at 19,500 miles. I don't drive the vehicle much so maybe its just time that the shocks wear out. Conversely, my front struts show no leaks/seepage at all. Hope you are enjoying your 2007, they are great vehicles.
I have a SX4 year 2012.the serpertine belt came off. It did not have a single weare mark on it. I replaced it any way. 6 months later it came oit again. I found a oil leak obove coming out of the oil preasure swich. Thanks for your belt going around the 8 ponits of pulles. Sow fare nobody has an idea what makes it come off.
glad you were able to solve the problem, I noticed the oil pressure switch too in close proximity to the belt. Enjoy your 2012 SX4 and thank you for commenting and watching.
You are the first video I have watched that use the puller properly. Most tighten it up and pull on the T instead of turning the base to pull the cartridge. Cudos.
Thank You 👍 I really appreciate the time and effort you invested into this very helpful and informative video. Please do keep the videos coming on this scooter. FYI, I bought a new 2-toned Zinc and Gloss Black Goped GSR Cruiser 4 several months ago. It has a Lifan 4-Stroke engine, but I also have a new Honda GX35 Engine on the side if I ever decide to swap out my Lifan Engine. I also bought the Seat Kit and Rear Brake Kit for it as well. I've been busy with other things, and so I have yet to even get it running. All I ever did so far is unbox it.
thank you for the positive feedback, I really appreciate it! Glad to hear you got a GSR Cruiser, I think the only difference between yours and mine is the rear disc, it is standard on the Super GSR46R. Great that you have the Honda GX35 as a backup, I am not familiar with the Lifan 4-stroke, but the Honda has more torque (according to the specs). I have not yet ridden mine, I am curious on how it will ride, I am not looking to go crazy fast, cruising at around pedal bicycle speed 10 mph would be all I need. I also purchased a Goped Sport roller (2 stroke model) and installed a Zenoah G320RC engine on it, I am preparing that video for a future upload. You deserve a nobel prize for watching my video, it is really quite boring, but I am grateful you found it helpful. Thanks for watching and good luck with your GSR Cruiser.
@@zmanvideo1 Haha, nah man...don't be so hard on yourself. Many people are too afraid to even tRy to upload a video of themselves talking. And for that, I commend you. 👍 I believe if you keep it up, you'll likely even surprise yourself how much more comfortable and more articulated you become.👌 Best Wishes to you sir... I'll be looking forward to more content here...Thx again 🤙

2012terex 4 seater need drive belts for it
I know this was 5 years ago. But those Sylvania - silverstar ultra high performance halogen bulbs are great high performance bulbs. And they are the only ones I can recommend. I use to have those for 5 months before I switch to LED from Lasfit on my 2015 lifted Scion xB. I would still slap a led bulbs on that iQ because with the correct type of the led bulbs that has 2 sided, a nice compact size to fit there. With a little bit large heatsink and a cooling fan that’s big enough to be efficient. I would recommend Lasfit - LC plus on ur low beams H11, and Lasfit - LCair on ur 9005 high beams. That’s gonna be way better than halogen bulbs and way last longer. Highly recommend Lasfit. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Im gonna give you a tip. If youre using that moen puller on a cartridge that is really stuck in there dont twist it. Especially with those plastic stems. They break off inside the valve. Also becareful not to scratch up the brass on the valve.
Where is the filter?
the filter is located inside the bottom of the transmission pan, it is a screen, so if your fluid is very dirty, I would recommend removing it and cleaning it. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
You know you can just get a regular oil wrench jack up the car a little lay on your back and get to it like any other oil filter easy as eating pancakes
I would have done it top side if I knew all the troubles that could come with dislodging a CV axel from the bearing assembly (hammering/mushrooming the end of the axle corroded in the wheel). I never accomplished getting it out. BUT BUT BUT - I just finished replacing the alternator on a 2010 with CV axle-in, so still the next generation design from but from the wheel well. I was able to keep the CV axle installed by disconnecting the ball joint and steering knuckle from the top bolt on the strut tower, oh and disconnecting the steering control arm. By swinging the knuckle forward and toward the front of the car I could get the part to clear through the wheel well because it would drop the axel lower. Disconnecting the power steering line where it connects hard line to soft line helped with top side clearance too. The advantage to this is while you're down there, you can replace idler pulleys and leak check, clean up any oil from filling or power steering leaks. The utility belt would have to come off anyway.
Thank you for the positive feedback and that it indeed can be replaced on the bottom side. Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for watching.
Great info. Was having greef with mine probably 40 years. His video was a god sent!!!!??
Appreciate the video. I'm about to do this repair myself. Maybe dumb question, but does the lip on the new seal face out of differential and mate against the flange, or opposite? Thanks!
The lip on the new seal faces outside of the differential, mates against the side differential flange (faces the CV axle shaft). Good luck with the repair, volvosweden has a repair on it and looks quite straightforward.
Great instructions and video,Thank you so much
Your most welcome! Thank you for the positive feedback. I apologize for the bad video quality and sound, I am using a better camera and lighting now.

Wow, that came out crazy easy. Nice job preparing for the worst. I've got a 1200 (all brass) cartridge that's been in a house for about 50 years that I need to change out and I'm not looking forward to it. I'm curious why you felt the Moen puller was a better option than the ONA puller? I guess with the Moen one you could twist it back and forth, but both only pull on the stem...
I was not expecting it to come out so easy neither, but glad it did. For your 1200 all brass cartridge, I would bet that you will need to break the stem, run a tap and pull it out with the bolt. I found the 2 videos very helpful that I link in description. That is correct, the Moen puller you can twist the cartridge back and forth whereas with the ONA puller you cannot. So in my opinion, save yourself the cost of the ONA puller, use the Moen puller, and if its stuck then you will pull on the stem and pull it out and then start the tapping process. Please do let me know how you make out. Preparation is key to have all of your tools (i.e., tap, bolts, washers) on hand as to minimize water supply disruption. Best of luck to you. Thank you for commenting and watching.
The ONA is the Proper tool for the job. It can even transform into a threaded puller if things go south.@@zmanvideo1

I think the oil filter placement is crazy. Actually this is not too bad, but it is a bit of a pain. Thanks for watching.

I just purchased a used 06’ grand Vitara and decided to preform an oil change mind you I have hundreds of oil changes under my belt (as an x lube tech.) this is one of the dumbest designs I’ve ever seen. When taking off the used oil filter it was super loose I guess the previous own had the same issue 🤦🏻♂️.
congrats on your 06 GV purchase, I am not surprised it was loose, it is a ridiculous design, I would highly recommend torquing the new oil filter to 10 lbs ft, 120 inch pounds; thank you for watching.
The classic shower tub faucet. Good job.
Thank you! And thanks for watching.

Less than a month ago I paid a plumber $850 (total) to complete this job. Thanks for this!
I'm a master plumber you got took that's about a 150.00 job at the most
wow, that is pricey, but at least you have it fixed and didn't need to replace the whole faucet and break the wall etc. Thank you for watching.
850.? Can I be your handy man?
I’ve a rotten smell in my car. Smells like stagnate water but not sure what it exactly is. It’s a 2011 automatic sx4 sz5. Any diagnostic suggestions?
I would pull up the carpets a bit and see if you can see if its damp underneath their; you may have to remove the inside plastic piece from the kick panel. I would start first under the passenger dash, there is a hose that connects to the HVAC box to drain condensation from the A/C outside to the vehicle; you can see the hose from underneath the vehicle, check to see if its plugged. Also, if you had a recent windshield replacement that could be a source as well. Hope this help. Thanks for watching.
Why does everyone skip over the engine cover removal? Those thinga are damn near impossible to take off at least you can show what technique to remove them it's not just quick pull aand remove.
I completely agree with you. The cover on this Suzuki pulls straight up (with removing the round rubber hose piece first coming off the air filter box. If its stuck, just pry up until it becomes free. I apply a little bit of silicone paste on the inside four rubber grommets on the engine cover to assist easier removal next time. Thank you for watching.
Great video! I was wondering where did you bought the seal and the flange? Cant find resonable price. Either way is discontinued or over priced On ebay or suzuki part, they sell each flange for 150$ cad.
I purchased mine from the dealer, I think I paid around the $150 CAD mark for each flange; you can try the following websites (I have ordered from them before): amayma.com, megazip.net, SuzukiAutomotiveParts.com. Hope this helps. Thanks for the positive feedback and for watching.
Thanks for the vid ! I've learnt so much on how to service my car
your most welcome, thank you for the positive feedback and for watching.
How long did this whole repair take?
Unfortunately, I did not time myself as I did this repair when I was removing the transfer case to repair a few seal leaks. I would say around 3 hours if you take your time. The most difficult and time consuming was cutting off the lower stabilizer link nut, be prepared cause that will give you some grief. Other then that, it is fairly straight forward. Thank you for watching (and sorry for the late reply).
Brilliant thanks.
thank you! Sorry for the bad quality video. Thank you for watching.
Good information , large oil leak under my Suzuki SX 4x4 all wheel drive looks as though it's from there, also the information that this is a common fault with these vehicles - have booked it in for repair and fingers crossed
hope everything goes well! thank you for watching.
I have seen other cars use 5w-30 may I ask the difference or reason for your choice of oil. My car has 155k miles on it
Great question; the reason I use 0W-30 is because it has better flow characteristics in the very cold, i.e., it will flow quicker/easier, yet in the summer time it will maintain the 30 rating. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
